"Much enjoyed staying at this property."
The quality and quantity of the facilities were outstanding and we would highly recommend staying here.Happy Holiday! Thr parking may appear difficult, but should not be a problem and there is a parking pass for zone A. A zone A street is just approx 50 metres away. Overall we found nothing lacking. The location is excellent for for shopping and eating/drinking. Happy Holidaing! Jack

"Great property in a great location."

"A bit more attention to detail with the cleaning is needed."
Gaps in dining table showed food debris from previous usage. Fridge and cupboards needed clean before we put food away and cobwebs were evident in corners between walls & ceiling in several rooms. There was also a lot of debris in the gaps between the cushions of the settees. Several items dropped in rooms by previous users were found. Firedoor to upper twin bed room will not close due to binding on frame. Cooker had only 3 rings of the 4 working and toaster required replacement. Bathroom shower proved hard to get to function correctly, was OK once working setting was found. We did however enjoy our stay at the Giddy Goose which was an ideal size for our party of 6 adults and 1 toddler. Good access to all shops and amenities was useful but finding parking nearby was difficult.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. We are disappointed to hear of the issue that you experienced with the cleanliness of the property. Your comments will be passed onto the relevant teams. Thank you The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"We stayed at the Giddy Goose in Windermere for a week in August this year and had a wonderful experience."
The house is centrally located in Windermere, and having stayed in several nearby cottages, this one stands out as the best. Pros Excellent Location: Walking distance to restaurants, shops, and Bowness (about 20 minutes). The bus and railway stations are also nearby, making it easy to explore the area without a car. Great for Dog Walks: Convenient access to fantastic dog walks near Orrest, either up the hill or along scenic paths. Spacious and Comfortable: Plenty of space for our family of four. Our kids (ages 10 and 12) enjoyed having their own rooms. The house stays cool even on hot days, which was perfect for us and our dog. Comfortable Beds: Everyone found the beds very comfortable. Well-Equipped: Plenty of toilets and showers, a lovely garden where we enjoyed a BBQ Cons (Minor and did not impact our stay): Paint Touch-Ups Needed: Some areas of the house could use a bit of fresh paint. Microwave Instructions: The microwave requires you to set the clock before use, which is different from most microwaves. Some instructions on this would be helpful. Parking Space: The parking space is a bit tight. We managed to fit our Freelander, but larger vehicles might need to use the parking permit, which could mean a short walk to the cottage. Light Switch Issue: The light switch in the living room didn’t work as expected; you have to pull it out each time you press it. This might need fixing. Kitchen Supplies: The kitchen could use a couple more knives and a meat thermometer. Overall, We had a lovely and relaxing stay at the Giddy Goose and would highly recommend it. We would definitely stay here again.

"Upon arrival on Friday we found a packet of Dill in the fridge and the freezer was filthy."
The kitchen sink was also blocked. There was an insulin syringe in a bedroom drawer. Then throughout the week the hive stopped controlling the boiler ,the kitchen sink blocked up twice through no fault of ours as it was not cleaned properly by maintenance, the microwave didn’t work and wasn’t repaired until second call out. Other things we didn’t report until the last day were the shower over the bath kept going hot and cold, the bathroom pop up plug failed to stay down so baths couldn’t be taken and the milk compartment on the fridge door didn’t stay on the door causing the contents to fall on the floor so couldn’t be used. We didn’t report these last three faults as after three visits by maintenance we didn’t want them in the property again during our stay there. The positives were the size and location of the property. It’s a shame everything else was so tired .
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to read that you had some issues during your stay. Maintenance attended to unblock the sink but found there to be no issue with the microwave. We are sorry that we were not given the opportunity to resolve the other issues during your stay. We are pleased to read that you enjoyed the size and location of Giddy Goose. "For starters what a superb location in Windermere!"
Everything you could need on your doorstep. Ideal for arriving by train as it was only a few minutes away! The parking situation was fine - no issues parking out on the allocated roads. Kitchen had everything we needed. Plenty of space for us all and a nice cosy living room to retire to in the evening. Bedroom situation fine too. Overall I genuinely have no negative feedback, excellent value money. Would consider coming back for sure!
-
"A lovely property, very spacious, warm and comfortable right In the heart of Windermere."
Parking at the side of the kitchen area/gate is room enough for 2 small cars which was perfect. Plenty of room for our party of 7 and everyone was very happy. Would definitely recommend. Our only tip would be to provide a door mat at the kitchen door as all the mud and rain gets brought in on the floor. Otherwise everything was spot on.
-
"We all had great time we loved the house my wife said she would have liked a long brush for sweeping the floor ."
Otherwise fantastic you have a great home.

"We had a lovely few days in the Giddy Goose."
The description of the property was accurate and really helpful. It was more spacious that I imagined, hard to reflect that in the photos, plenty of room for up to 7 of us. The garden was fairly small but more than adequate for our dog, and super useful. It was clean, well furnished, had everything we need. A great location, everything just a short walk away, but it was still incredibly quiet inside the property! It was hard to believe we were so central. The parking was tight, as mentioned previously, but we managed to get out of our space and return each day, no need to ask anyone to move their cars (as other visitors had found), just a bit of careful driving in and out and turning. Would definitely return if we wanted to stay in Windermere again.

"Giddy Goose is a wonderful holiday rental situated in lovely Windermere."
I had never visited the area before and it was a perfect location for visiting the local sites. The house is as described and would be great for a larger group (we were only three) and it was well supplied with dishes, pots, pans and everything necessary for a holiday. Sheets and towels were nice and the beds were comfortable. We had no issues with parking and I wonder if the few negative reviews were not parking on the right street. (Hint: don’t park by the front gate but the side one.) We did have difficulty with two things: the heat (we didn’t figure out that the thermostat in the dining room controls the heat as well as the unit in the kitchen) and the water temperature in the en-suite bathroom ( the left side turns on the water while the right side controls the temperature and I think the button needs to be depressed). A page in the house manual could have cleared this up. Thanks for a lovely time.

"Lovely stay."
Great house. Parking quite difficult due to many cars using the tiny yard.
-
"Really lovely property providing a home from home."
Fantastic location and we loved our stay here. Would absolutely recommend and will definitely be back! Only slight negative is getting in and out of the property with a car can be tricky due to how parking is allocated to the other cottages in the road, meaning that sometimes we had to ask people to move their vehicles to access our parking space. If said people are out then you can’t park your car in the space provided. Would also love for check in to be moved to 3pm as 4pm does seem a bit late especially as you have to vacate the property by 10am. These are only minor inconveniences though and we we would absolutely recommend this place to anyone to stay!

"We had a wonderful time in Giddy Goose."
A great place to explore the Lakes - our kids loved climbing Gummers How, Orrest Head and Brant Fell, watersports at Fell Foot Park, adventures at Brockhole and visits to Lakeside Aquarium and Wray Castle - all within easy reach of the cottage. There are also lovely places to eat and drink right on the doorstep. The cottage felt like a well-loved and looked after home, and was equipped with everything we needed, meaning we could switch off and relax. Thankyou for a wonderful stay!
Thank you for your kind words Rebekka. So glad you and your family enjoyed the Lakes and are cottage. Hope to see you again. Many thanks. Linda n Steve (owners) Property Owner

"Lovely well kept property with everything we could need to be comfortable for our 2 night stay."

"A beautiful, well presented and all round amazing property."
We stayed here the week of our wedding and as a rule, we only stay In a place once, so we can experience as many new locations as possible, however in this case we would happily return again and again. Keep up the great work and thank you for providing everything we needed for a wonderful week and for the amazing g experience. All the best for the future.
Hi Nathan Thank you so much for your kind words and lovely review . So glad you enjoyed your stay at our cottage and hope the weather was kind. Hope to welcome you again. Linda and Steve Property Owner

"A lovely property in an excellent location."
We were very comfortable and warm. The neighbours were very helpful with parking and as we hadn't planned on using cars during our stay the tight parking situation didn't bother us.

"We rent a cottage in the lakes every year and have done for the past 10 years."
This is by far the best we have ever been to. My family of five plus our dog absolutely loved Giddy Goose. I would like to thank the owners for providing such a comfortable and beautiful home for us. It was so homely too. Not one fault. Loved it and wanted to stay another week as we were so settled. Thank you to Sykes for listing and maintaining such a wonderful property. Hope to return. Take care

"Cottage was as expected, location in the centre was excellent."
The cottage is advertised with private parking, it does have private parking but accessing the space and getting out of the back alleyway is virtually impossible. The other cottages that share the back lane parking area block in the space allocated for this cottage. We ended up having to ask people to move cars so we could get in / out, after being stuck for a day as the people next door had gone out blocking us in we gave up and opted for street parking. There is a parking permit for the property but best of luck finding a space. We ended up parking circa 1 mile from the property as the street and paid parking were always full. Advertising this with a private parking space is a real stretch, had we known the situation with the parking we would have booked another cottage. If you don't need parking then the cottage is fine, if you do need parking that is accessible at all times, i would recommend thinking twice.
Sorrry to read you had such a negative experience at our cottage. Clearly not for you! We are lucky with our cottage as it does have private parking - very few do - and access by competent drivers is not difficult as tradesmen with big vans manage it without a problem. However, in high season when it is busy occupants of the cottages that have parking in the yard need to have consideration for others and that is usually the case. We visit at varying times throughout the year and have never had a problem such as yours. We feel you were very unlucky with your experience which possibly could have been avoided with a polite word with the neighbour. Basically, if you want perfect parking you probably need to be out of town. It's a bit of a 'trade-off' as the merits of being in the town are that all amenities such as shops, station, pubs, etc are on the doorstep yet the cottage is in a very quiet location. Property Owner

"We had a lovely holiday at Giddy Goose, the house is spacious and comfortable - and the kitchen very well equipped Having the community field behind, was a great bonus for the youngsters!"
What we did miss having was a toilet on the ground floor, but we realise that the design of the house doesn’t lend itself easily to that - and there are 3 on the other floors Many thanks

"We had a lovely week at Giddy Goose, definitely not the cleanest property we’ve stayed in but completely understand if it’s a property which allows dogs it’s going to be difficult to deep clean between each visitor."
Surface cleaning and initial presentation was good but maybe needs a non rental week for deep clean of kitchen units, paintwork etc. Hoover needs replacing - dreadful smell throughout house when we used it the night before leaving morning to tidy up. Everything that we needed as a family of 5 was available and the washing machine was a great addition- the only thing I missed was a clothes airer/ clothes horse to put up indoors for the wet weather days to dry the clothes just washed when we couldn’t hang them out.

"Enjoyable stay at the giddy goose."
Really liked the location & overall the cottage met expectations. I really feel like the 5pm check in is to much though. There is no way it takes this long to thoroughly clean a property of this size.
Hi Paul I accept your comment on the 5pm check in. It started with covid and extra cleaning required but I will address this with our agent Lakes Cottage Holidays. Glad you enjoyed your holiday and stay at Giddy Goose. Many thanks. Linda and Steve Owners Property Owner

"Boiler was off and property really cold on arrival - suspected leaking radiator too."
Fortunately I knew where Sykes office was and it was just before 5pm (bonkers that check in is 5pm by the way) so ran round before they shut. Fortunately the maintenance team were available and they called round REALLY quickly and fixed us up - pleasant men by the way. They commented that the settings on the boiler had been cranked up to max so that would make it switch off. So it may be useful to restrict people from doing that -- or at least someone check the property on the day someone is due to arrive - it wasn't obvious whether it had been occupied recently so the leak might have gone unnoticed for a while.

"A lovely very conveniently situated spacious cottage in the heart of Windermere."
Beautifully clean bathrooms and very well equipped. We were worried that the cottage wouldn’t be warm enough but we were never cold. Excellent!
-
"Lounge very comfortable tv had Netflix etc, spacious kitchen well equipped even had shoe polish kit, sewing kit & first aid box."
En suite bedroom, comfortable mattress , good shower and tv. Near supermarket and restaurants, even a post office! Good outside space.

"The Giddy Goose property is lovely, it has everything you need and is in a great location to explore the whole area as well as being able to walk to plenty of shops and restaurants."
I really enjoyed my stay. The only issue that I have had is with the service post stay, I left 2 tops in the property which of course was my silly fault, especially as one was brand new that i'd bought whilst on holiday. After multiple phonecalls to Sykes I eventually had it confirmed that they had been found by the housekeeper. This took a number of calls and quite a bit of time chasing as it has to go between Sykes, the local branch- Lakes holidays and the housekeeper. By the end of October though I had it confirmed that the tops had been taken to the local branch and I paid the £15 fee for return. It is now mid December and I still have not received them and again after multiple calls the only answer I get is that they must have been lost in the post. Even though I paid for return apparently they are not sent recorded and no proof of postage is taken. I appreciate entirely that it is my own fault for forgetting the tops, but it is frustrating that it has taken so much chasing and that after having them found and paying for the return that you don't send them as recorded or take any proof of postage or anything at all to help a safe return. This would be helpful for the future perhaps or at least if I could speak to Lakes holidays directly to have sorted this. I would have paid for the recorded post as am gutted that I cannot get the new top back especially.

"Loved how central the property was and that every need was well catered for."
Would recommend.

"As detailed on the phone, on the day we arrived the house (Giddy Goose) was not as clean as we would expect."
The main and most obvious problem was lack of proper vacuuming: all carpets and rugs looked as though they haven’t been properly vacuumed for a while; one bedroom even has a muddy smear that had been left. Telltale bits of debris, cotton, threads, fluff etc were in every room. This is impossible to photograph now (I was not asked to take photos when I rang on the day we arrived). We tried vacuuming the next day and the smell it created was so revolting we had to spray freshener and open windows: the bag was full which might explain the poor vacuuming? I requested a new bag but we weren’t given one. There were other signs of poor cleaning. Cobwebs, dust and debris on window sills, a long black hair still stuck to the bathroom wall, broken glass just under one of the sofas. I’ve photographed all that I can. A cleaner was organised to come on the Saturday at 10:30am, we were given no choice of time. Unfortunately all of our kids were still in bed after a long day the day before, so we chatted to the cleaner and apologised and offered to clean the house ourselves. We did try vacuuming as explained. The last thing you want when you pay to stay somewhere is the disappointment of it being dirty, having to phone and make arrangements and being asked to vacate the property on the first morning so it can then be cleaned properly. All holiday lets are priced to cover the cost of cleaning. In our case that cleaning was simply not sufficient.
Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your experience at Giddy Goose. We are sorry to hear that you experienced some cleanliness issues at the beginning of your stay. We attempted to rectify the dust and cobwebs as a matter of priorty. With Giddy Goose being a pet friendly property, it is often the case that hoover filters can start to smell of dog - this is a brand new hoover. We thank you again for your feedback and will ensure that our cleaner is reminded of our expectations and usually high standard of cleaning. Property Owner

"Fantastic Location."
Great Facilities. Lots of Space.
-
"We had a brilliant 4 nights, could have done with longer, excellent cottage 2 minuets from the main street."
One slight complaint trees around the gates could do with a trim as after any rain they are a bit of a challenge to get through without getting soaked.
-
"The accommodation was great and the position in Windermere superb."
The property was really well equipped and spacious. My only criticism would be the standard of cleaning. There were cobwebs on ceilings and the rug in the lounge had not been cleaned as there was a cable tie under the table and bits all over it. The previous occupants had obviously never recycled as the bins were full of the wrong rubbish and stunk as they hadn’t been put out to be emptied for a while. We had to move them to the bottom of the garden the smell was so bad. We managed to get one emptied when it was bin day but I feel this should have been addressed by the cleaners. Hopefully Sykes/Lakes will now act upon this. Despite this we would definitely return and fully recommend a stay here.

"This was our second time staying at the Giddy Goose cottage."
It is ideally situated, spacious, homely and perfect for our family. It has great facilities, just like home from home. Would definitely recommend.
-
"A lovely property in a stunning location."
This was our second visit to this property. Just needed a clothes horse as there wasn't one in the cellar cupboard. I would truly recommended this property.

"Beautiful cottage, great location and facilities."
Would highly recommend it.

"Giddy Goose went beyond our expectations there is nothing I could complain about, slight concern about the stairs being quite steep which could be a problem for the elderly or very young, as I am 75 I managed without a problem."
Cottage entertainment is very good , T.V. Books Games & Jigsaw. Plenty information on places of interest to visit. Cottage could not be any closer to the shopping area, and places to eat out. Starting to get back to normal as corona virus is slowly receding, { fingers crossed } The only down side no one can guarantee the weather. Great holiday was had by all
-
"More towels would of been nice."
Radiator in the dining room did not work. Great location plenty of eating houses and pubs for a drink or two.
-
"We had a lovely visit to Windermere and really enjoyed our stay at the Giddy Goose cottage."
It’s location could not have been better although the parking at the cottage requires some ‘concentration’. A bit tight but negotiable. The cottage was very comfortable and warm. Very clean and tidy. Plenty of room for the four of us. No DVD player but Netflix and Amazon Prime on tv. Good sized fridge and plenty of crockery and cutlery. We had a problem with one of the beds but this was quickly rectified after we called the office. Just two things which could be improved. More drinking/wine glasses and a bin in each bedroom would be useful. Other than these two minor details, we had a great time in this cottage. Highly recommended.
-
"A character cottage in a fantastic location - two minutes walk from the centre of Windermere and tucked away in a quiet spot."
-
"The Giddy Goose is a lovely cottage."
Fab kitchen, dining room and lounge. Lovely garden. Handy having three toilets on two floors. Nice, clean bathroom. Good for my dog although she could jump the wall to the other gardens if she wanted! Problems included very uncomfortable (old?) mattresses, no bins in bedrooms, and no liners in pedal bin in toilet. Parking was extremely difficult outside of the property - very small space and narrow, awkward lane with no turning area! We parked on the road about 10 minutes walk away. One final point, nice bars and pubs most dog friendly. Cafes and restaurants mostly not dog friendly!
Thank you so much for your feedback! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at Giddy Goose. I can confirm that the beds are all brand new. Bins are provided in all bedrooms and I can only apologise for the oversight regarding the liner in the bathroom bin this has been rectified. We look forward to seeing you again! Property Owner
-
"Super location for central Windermere, shops, bars and restaurants."
The cottage is very comfortable, plenty of room for four adults, three kids and a dog. Great location to explore the lakes from.
-
"It's easy to book and make payments with you."
The cottage itself was very comfortable and had everything we needed. It was also much more central and close to the shops, pubs and cafes than was expected (at the end of the street!) but it was still quiet. A perfect base. The only negative was the car parking, the space is limited but in such an area is expected. However, the parking space behind the cottage was very uneven which meant wading through big puddles when it had rained!
-
"The Giddy Goose is a beautiful cottage, beds were very comfortable."
Linens used were too quality and it was spotless. The location was excellent, right in the centre of Windermere near lots of restaurants and shops. Only slightly tricky thing was parking. The courtyard has a narrow entrance to reverse into and takes a little practice getting in.
-
"Beautiful, spacious cottage in a very central location."
We were an extended family of 7 (5 adults, 1 teen, 1 child, 1 dog) and there was plenty of space for us all. Shops, restaurants and bars are minutes away. Parking is a tight squeeze but we coped. Very well presented cottage and well equipped. Our only comment is we needed more than one tea towel for 4 days!! There is no DVD player but there is Netflix so plenty of choice. Lake Windermere is a couple of minutes in the car, or 1 mile walk (uphill on the way back)! We also visited Lake Conniston, approx 30 mins drive. It was a real home from home and we would all definitely recommend and we would visit again. Thank you for a lovely holiday!
-
"Really lovely house in such a central location."
Ideal for families.
-
"Lovely cottage, area was nice and easy to walk around to other areas of the lakes."
-
"Giddy Goose is perfectly located in the heart of Windermere with various amenities on your door step and Bowness-on-Windermere is only a 15 minute walk."
The property was clean and tidy, with spacious rooms, the garden needs to be secured better if bringing pets but internally everything was as expected. Bedding and towels really fresh and clean, plenty of home from home comforts. My only issue internally is every door downstairs is a fire door, it was slightly frustrating every time you went through a door it instantly shut behind you (this is small issue because this property is lovely). Just slightly annoying when you are going between lounge and kitchen/dining room. Would 100% return as the location is perfect, my group was all girls weekend away and it was ideal for this. Another plus is the TV has multiple channels, Netflix and strong WIF connection. Overall very happy with Giddy Goose, comfortable house with everything you could want just outside your door step. Will 100% return.
-
"This is a lovely cottage and we really enjoyed our holiday."
Plenty of space, clean, very well stocked kitchen, and very warm - the heating is very easy to control. Location is fantastic, plenty of shops and cafes/restaurants only a couple of minutes walk but parking not ideal as the private yard is in a pretty sorry state! You can actually fit 2 small cars in the private yard but one of you will have to park in front of the other so there will be some manoeuvring required if you want to go out! Anyhow, we managed but it is one downside. Good outside pebbled garden which is enclosed so useful if you have a dog. The mattresses in the top twin room are very soft and not good if you have a bad back so be warned! En-suite room lovely and spacious. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
