We had a great time the house was perfect just a few minor gripes 1 there was no fish slice so hard to cook eggs 2 there is a wasp nest outside the patio door which made being in the garden difficult 3 there was no hot water on the shower over the bath in bedroom 3 4 toaster had a broken handle was was difficult to use 5 no welcome booklet with instructions for the oven etc 6 some of the lights were not working As I said these were minor gripes and did not distract from a great holiday and we would definitely stay there again
Hi John, many thanks for your feedback. We will look to buy a fish slice, thank you for noting this. We are also printing out manuals to put together a welcome booklet, we hope this will improve people’s stays in the future. We are very glad you enjoyed your holiday and we hope to see you again soon :) Property Owner

"House is in need of a period of maintenance to get all windows repaired and repainted."
Would benefit from having the entire ground floor laid with laminate rather than the carpet which is suffering age related issues. Would also benefit from having the duvets replaced as they had lots of staining on them. A great position just outside of Windermere and very peaceful

"Had a lovely 2 night stay at Langdale View 24th-26th July."
House was fully equipped for 8 people. We liked the open plan style in living room, dining room and kitchen with window seats. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean with nice white bedding and towels. Lots of quirky features. Outdoor area is small but private. It's about 30 min walk (with a 5yr old) into Windermere town which has shops, bars and plenty of places to eat.

"It's a really great property but needs a little bit of TLC."
Some of the grouting in the bathrooms needs refreshing as it is starting to go a bit mouldy, the bathroom door handle in the top room was coming off and a hand towel in the downstairs toilet would be useful. The facilities were ideal for us though and we enjoyed our stay.
-
"This was a great place to stay with plenty of space for 7 people and a dog."
A good location for Windermere and Ambleside, space for parking two cars. The house was clean and warm and plenty of hot water for showers. There was outdoor space although it was a little too cold and wet to enjoy it. The kitchen was small but well equipped…just in need of a new tin opener! We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it.

"We had a fantastic stay at Langdale View, it was very clean and comfortable and had everything needed for 8 people."
Although it says only parking for 2 cars, we had 6 and had no problem parking them all just have to be respectful of the neighbours. We found the property very easily going off the instructions sent to us and if anyone in future needs a taxi, Windermere taxis were great and found us with no problems. Only thing I would say is that the sky box needs updating, it wasn’t an issue for us as we were out a lot but if the weather had been bad we may have stayed in more. Other than that no issues at all and would definitely stay again

"We have returned to this property for the 4th time to use over a new year break."
It is ideal for us with the set up of rooms/bathrooms. However it is a little tired in places and a few things need to be addressed. The bins were full on arrival and so difficult for our waste/recycling to be put out. All dining chairs are rickety and could do with some tlc to be more stable. The main fridge, were told not to adjust but food was getting frozen. Master suite extractor fan not working and so excess condensation

"Had a lovely holiday ."
Slight difficulty finding the place as there's a small sign showing hilltop but not langdale view. That would be helpful. Although the place was tired looking the inside was very clean and comfortable. Bed linen and towels 5* Well equipped kitchen , maybe a 4 sliced toaster. Very minor thing. Washer dryer available if needed. Iron and ironing board. Also a hairdryer available. Tv /sky needs updating keeps showing messages about HD. Lovely and quiet, beautiful scenery. Although now unable to walk to lake as it's all private properties. Overall had a lovely holiday, would recommend it. Certainly ideal for a large group.

"A great property for 2 families and 1 dog."
It's a bit tired and needs a bit of maintenance. But rental price reflects that as its very good value. Very comfortable beds, fully equipped with everything that was stated on the booking site. Bins were overflowing when we arrived, could have provided a few spare bin bags and a few extra toilet rolls and some cleaning cloths. So bring these along with you Garden could do with being more dog friendly, especially in a dog friendly property. Not enclosed at all , small stone walls that she easily could jump over. Our dog was kept on the lead when outside as lots of rabbits. Otherwise can't fault it. Views were stunning and everything was clean and kitchen was stacked with utensils, pans and cooking equipment. I've only marked the house slightly down due lack of general maintenance and the garden. Only thing you could do is provide a recycling bin for plastic waste. Sadly No acces to windermere or the bench on the latest picture .Thank you for a lovely stay. We Would stay again.

"We really enjoyed our stay at Langdale."
The house could benefit from a number in the door as it was not obvious that it was a front door it looked like a door to the next door property. The kitchen is small but we managed to cook for 8 numerous times. Shower in the twin bedroom could do with resealing as there is mould around it. The bins were full when we got there so we struggled with our rubbish, there was nowhere to put cans for recycling and when the bin men did come they only emptied the glass recycling box. Beds were Al comfortable with new pillows. The area is beautiful but you do need to get in the car as nowhere is really within walking distance. The house was very spacious and comfortable and we had a fab time.

"We had a lovely stay at langdale view."
It was very clean, comfy beds, a small but adequate kitchen with some new equipment. A short walk into Windermere via the main roads is not a problem. The neighbours are lovely and gave sound advice on the area. It’s a quiet & peaceful spot. External paintwork needs addressing, and I guess in time the owner will do this, a small chair and some towel hooks in the attic bedroom would be helpful but did not impact our stay. Would have no problem going back.

"I'm sorry to say for the first time since renting a Sykes property I am sad that for the money I paid £1500 + for one week I was disappointed."
The property is desperately in need of TLC both inside and out. Flaking paint on the inside and outside of the windows did not create a good first impression. The inside of the house needs the walls painting. There were no bbq packs in the basket and the bbq itself was broken. I am honestly trying to find something positive to say and I am sorry for that, but the views from the bedroom windows were brilliant. To ask for a good housekeeping bond was I thought rather cheeky. This was meant to be a family treat for a special anniversary .

"Whilst the property was nice enough the listing says it is a short stroll to Lake Windermere, however you can’t actually get to the lake as there are private properties all around the area blocking you from doing so."
The property is NOT dog friendly, there is a small paved yard and although there is a lovely field and wood next to the house where it would have been pleasant to take the dog first thing or in the evening you are totally forbidden to do so thereby you have to drive some distance every time to take dog for a walk. There are lovely views in the distance of the mountain tops but immediate view is of trees no visibility of the lake which was a shame. On the ground floor and in the yard area there is no view what so ever just a mass of tall shrubs which as they grow may in time block view from upper windows too. Bathrooms have been updated but rest of house is pretty tired but comfortable enough. Sofa vey nice. Beds comfortable. Some cooking utensils could do with replacing and pans needed a good wash so didn’t use them. Good base for the lakes but wouldn’t go back to this property I’m afraid.

"Thank you for Christmas tree."
Lovely and warm house One of twin bedrooms mattresses, one with bath, not very comfortable. Leak in downstairs toilet, reported. Also water on floor in cloakroom not sure of source but did dry up. One dining room chair had a bolt missing that supported a leg.

"Spacious, clean and extremely comfortable."
Beautiful and quiet location (except for hearing next door practice piano and singing which we thought was lovely :)) The house needs some TLC - it’s tired and needs better maintenance - that didn’t effect our stay, we had a lovely time but it’s overpriced. Showers are amazing. Only real gripe was the kitchen…It’s far too small for the size of house and it’s under-resourced. I had to buy a large frying pan/cooks pan as well as a fish slice/spatula. There were just 3 of us staying here and even that was stressful cooking in a kitchen so small on a 4 ring hob, tiny oven. All the more reason to eat out though! :)
-
"The house was very spacious apart from the kitchen."
It is in a very good position for exploring the lakes, close to Bowness and yet secluded. The large amount of fridge and freezer space meant that we didn't need to spend our week shopping. Some minor irritations:- It lacked any means of making filter coffee and all the knives in the kitchen were blunt.
-
"Thank you for the use of your property."
We had a good stay and appreciated the accommodation of 2 dogs rather than one. We did find a few things that we feel you should address - the most important ones being that the 2nd bedroom shower leaks through to the doorway into the dining room, and the outside table is rotten in places and very unstable. My 89 year old mother lent on it for balance and it gave way as the leg seemed to be very loose. Other little things like the up to date leaflets (some dated 2013) and information about the property and the setting (walks etc) would have been appreciated.

"This is a large comfortable house with paved exterior garden."
The en-suite bathrooms were well decorated although the bath had a few dead flies in it. A little tired in general decor but generally very comfortable and good facilities included.
-
"Advert says short stroll to Lake."
All gated off so no access to the lake. Also short stroll into Windermere, its a 40mins walk. Property was very basic and dated, but clean rooms. The price does not reflect standard in any way. Kitchen tiny for 8 people house. Patio gets no sun due to 30ft bushes. Patio furniture old and in need of replacement. Dining Chairs where old and broken not safe really. Main window pane seal has gone, looks scruffy.

"The property is situated near many visiting points."
I wish more care had been taken with the outside as the first impression was very disappointing, the house looked very run down. On entry to the house it was clean, but the windows could have done with a clean. The kitchen was well stocked with cutlery, plates, cooking equipment etc. The bedrooms were in good condition and the view from the windows was wonderful. Every room has an en suite which was really handy. I would highly recommend you take your own duvets as on the last day when we were asked to take off bed linen we discovered dirty, yellow, blood stained duvets. Considering this holiday rental wasn’t cheap that was totally unexpected.
-
"The position of the property is fantastic."
Disappointing entrance to property- looked unkempt. The general overall presentation of the property was disappointing - lack of lamps and bright stark lighting in the property, dirty front window in lounge and outside seating area hadn't been cleaned or arranged. This gave an impression of a holiday let that has been neglected by the owner. Windows upstairs rotting. It was an expensive holiday let- we would have thought the interior would have reflected the rent.

"Amazing view, quiet central location, loads of space so a great cottage."
Perfect room for drying gear right opposite the front door.
-
"Great stay in the perfect location!"
Huge space, stunning views and very clean.
-
"Lovely house, clean and tidy."
Kitchen a little small for the number of guests but plenty of other living space and the bedrooms and bathrooms were great. Fab views.
-
"We had a lovely break at Langdale view."
The house was very clean, extremely spacious and very comfortable. We will definitely return.
-
"Arrived on Friday with a group of friends -had just finished eating and having a lovely time when Storm Arwen arrived knocking out all the electric in the area and Bowness."
Luckily we had taken tourches as advised on booking form, the lady next door gave us matches so we could light the gas stove so able to have hot drinks and get a wash. Left on Sunday morning the power was not back on but we were fine, used our duvets to keep us warm and played games by candle light on the Saturday evening. The property was perfect in every way, bedrooms, en-sites, and views were amazing. Would recommend for any time of the year and would certainly book again.
-
"A very comfortable well equipped cottage, however a very small kitchen which made food preparation a struggle."
The only real downside we experienced was a full bin on our arrival which meant we had to take our own waste to the local recycling centre.25 minute walk to the centre of Windermere but well placed for access to the rest of the lakes by car.
-
"The house failed to meet expectations for one very specific reason- it’s was not dog friendly as described."
The listing said you could get to the lake in under 5 minutes and that was not true. It may be that land that was originally accessible is now in private hands, but that doesn’t change the fact that everywhere you could walk to from the house was private, with no access for dog walking and definitely no access to the lake. All the surrounding land is private and the neighbours were very clear that the dog was not to be allowed access to the surrounding woods. There is a small paved yard to let the dog into but our dog will only go to the toilet on grass which was only possible with a significant walk along roads or getting in the car which we resorted to most days. The extractor fan only worked in one bathroom (not great when there are no windows), but other than that the house was great, large, amazing views from the upper rooms, clean and well appointed.
-
"The house was comfortable and well equipped (the showers were great !"
) although no welcome pack and very few instructions on how to work anything. Also, there is no canal access from the lane and you have to park in front of the gap where the garages used to be so maybe the details could be updated. It was very peaceful and the views from upstairs were beautiful.
-
"Good to have en-suite for each bedroom."
Kitchen extremely small for 8 people. 5 minutes walk to lakeshore in description is misleading, since it is heavily fenced off and only accessible after a 30 minute walk up a steep hill. The beds were uncomfortable. Attic room uncomfortably hot in the summer (it was only 20 degrees, but sunny). Too few tumbler glasses and mugs for 8 people, constantly needing to wash up!
-
"When we arrived at the cottage, we were a little disappointed with the approach."
The write up said a short walk to the lake and town but the cottage is a fair distance from Windermere up a long, steep unlit road. My mother, who is 80 wasn’t able to go out for a walk, driving was the only choice for her. The inside of the house was fabulous. A great space for all the family and the bathrooms were lovely. The views from the windows were breathtaking but the trees really do need cutting back to appreciate it and to use the garden space. We brought our own wii console for the evenings to play games which was good as the tv reception was poor. The attic room had a lot of wasps on a daily basis, especially in the bathroom due to the nest in the gutter. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in this large property.
-
"The house was in a great location to explore Ambleside and Windermere and also the surrounding hills (The views of the Langdale Pikes were brilliant!"
) The house was spacious, comfy and all of the bathrooms were in great condition and to be honest i don't think the pictures of the property do it justice. I do think, however, the instructions for the house could be clearer, especially for general waste and recycling.

"We loved the location of Hill Top, quiet and peaceful but only 5mins from Windermere."
The loft living/bedroom was our favourite room in the house, wonderful views of the mountains, we also loved the visiting wildlife to the garden, we will definitely return to this property.

The ground floor sitting room is a wonderfully light space with lots of room for guests to spread out and relax.
Welcoming sofas, a large bay window and patio doors leading out onto the terrace make this room very special.
The kitchen comes with a generous dining area and is equipped with everything a large party might need to prepare a hearty breakfast before a day on the water, Sunday lunch or evening meal. On the first floor are three of the property’s four bedrooms.
A gorgeous double with stunning views of the Langdale Pikes and an en-suite power shower room, and two twin bedded rooms, both with fabulous views and their own en-suite facilities.
The first has an en-suite power shower room and the second has an en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath.
The loft suite is up a final flight of stairs.
Not only does this room have its own en-suite, but also a separate living space and terrace.

There is most certainly something to please everyone in your group.
Please note- Guests must park the cars (max 2) in front of the middle garage. The other 2 garages are for residents of the other properties. Parking anywhere else restricts the access for the bin lorry.
Please note: The access area leading up to Langdale View is a little unkempt due to the storms however, this is no reflection on the property and is out of the control of the owner.
Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
