• "The property was lovely, as described and very comfortable."

  It is tucked away in Windermere so close to everything and a two mins walk from the heart, but away from most traffic. We had a slight hiccup at the beginning and the owner phoned directly to ensure everything went smoothly. We appreciated the call and they are obviously on the ball. Would highly recommend!

• "Amazing location, fantastic property that was furnished to a very high standard."

  We really enjoyed our time here! We had some troubles with the boiler during our stay, which was sorted within a couple hours! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable base to explore the lakes

• "Little Herdwick is a lovely property."

  It was very clean, spacious and comfortable with everything you might need for a great holiday. The bed is one of the most comfortable I have slept in in a holiday home. The 'Box of Treats' was a lovely surprise. Thank you. The location is perfect. We were able to park opposite the property and didn't use the car again until we went home. The bus service around the Lakes is excellent. We will return.

• "Lovely comfortable cottage set in the centre of Windermere, nice walk down to Bowness."

  Everything we needed, we stayed 2 nights. We had a tiny baby, parents and grandparents, access for pram was easier through backdoor. Welcome pack of drinks and snacks was a nice gesture. We would definitely return.

• "We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and would recommend."

• "There was nothing wrong with the cottage itself, the location was great, decor was lovely, everything you can think of provided, the welcome basket was a nice touch."

  The only thing that spoilt it a bit was the fact there are no curtains or blackout blinds in the bedrooms, which meant you were woken up at the crack of dawn, more so in the front bedroom. We’re not the first to comment on this, it has been mentioned in previous reviews and unfortunately the reason we wouldn’t come again.

• "Lovely cottage perfectly positioned for holiday guests using public transport."

  we liked the "uncluttered" feel of the cottage, which makes it easier to keep clean, although a brush to sweep the patio would be useful. We will definitely be booking again.

• "Beautiful property, as described and right in the heart of Windermere."

  We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend. The only thing we would change is that there were no recycling facilities - we ended up taking a large bag of plastic, cardboard etc home with us.

• "This was our second Christmas in your lovely cottage and it did not disappoint."

  We looked forward to it all year and had a super week. The balance between traditional and modern within the property is spot on and we love the open plan living- especially on Christmas Day when the children were playing and we were cooking. It’s in a perfect location for walking to nearby Bowness, a short drive to Ambleside and there are some lovely National Trust locations nearby too. We can also recommend the Crafty Baa and Angel Inn for food and drinks and The Magic Wok Chinese take away. Thank you for another fab week! The Myers family

• "Beautiful cottage with everything you need for your stay."

  Excellent location. This was our second stay and we will return. Only feedback is that the bedroom blinds are not that effective at blocking light. This may not be an issue for most people and it did not bother us as it was November when we stayed. Little Herdwick is a delightful place to stay and we will return

• "Outstanding!"

  Beautiful, clean, great location, would book Again in a heartbeat one of the best cottages I have ever stayed in. On arrival we received a wonderful welcome basket filled with snacks, soft drinks, beers and a bottle of Prosecco, there was hand soap at both sinks (great touch), kitchen was supplied with fairy liquid, cloths and tea towel which again is a great touch. The log fire ( logs and kindling supplied) in the living space was wonderful. The decor throughout was stunning and the house was sparkling clean. We loved this cottage thank you.

• "Lovely property within a great location."

  Extremely clean and a lovely touch with the welcome pack provided. To comment on the parking, we only struggled on the day of arrival as we didn’t arrive till 9pm, but found permit parking a short walk round the corner, there is also a big car park a short walk away that does overnight parking for £1. We didn’t struggle the rest of the week at all! We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to return in the future!

  Great location, only 100m from the Main Street and some great restaurants. Great lounge area, kitchen and back yard. Also comfortable beds. Only improvement recommended would be to provide recycling facilities. We will be back!

• "Beautiful cottage with everything you need, definitely one of the best we've ever rented, spotlessly clean, lovely welcome box and so convenient for the town's restaurants and shops."

  Only issue was parking when returning in the evening, had to park in town and retrieve before 9:00am but this isn't a criticism of the property, overall a fabulous place to stay and would happily recommend.

• "Firstly, can I say that our holiday was for my husband's 60th birthday and the moment we stepped into Little Herdwick we both just went "WOW"."

  What an absolutely beautiful and tastefully decorated home. I personally have OCD and I think it's the first holiday home I have been to that has not triggered my OCD, and believe me, that is a major tick in the box. The attention to every little detail throughout the house is exceptional. Everywhere we turned there were little apt references to sheep, which tickled our sense of humour, like the salt and pepper shakers, slate wall plaques in the back garden, little sheep on the beds with "please leave me for the next visitors to enjoy" tags, dangly legged sheep ornaments in the bathroom to name but a few. Every inch of the cottage was spotlessly clean. Every facility and accessory had been carefully thought out. The beds were adorned with lovely cotton bedding and the comfort of the mattresses and pillows had us wakening up feeling totally refreshed. We honestly could not find anything negative that we would pass on to the next visitors. Please pass on to the owners our immense gratitude for letting us stay in their beautiful home. the welcome basket was very much appreciated and we look forward to staying again in the near future.

• "We loved our week at little Herdwick."

  It’s a great little cottage, beautifully decorated and in a great location! Only a minutes walk to all the shops and cafes in Windermere. It has a good sized living area, good master bedroom and smaller second bedroom. Suited us perfect with two young children. We were able to get a parking space outside the house most days, a few times it was harder to find a space. The only thing missing was a dishwasher. We would definitely recommend this cottage!

• "Fantastic cottage, extremely clean!"

  !!, well located and gorgeously decorated. We entertained ourselves all week with many hypothetical conversations about moving in. Parking is no issue considering it’s a busy holiday village - we stayed over the Jubilee weekend and only had to park on the next street once, at no cost. As a suggestion, curtains in the main bedroom would help with light & road noise. Would 100% recommend.

• "What a fantastic holiday cottage, it had everything that you needed and a little welcoming gift on arrival."

  The log fire was great in the evenings to keep us warm and the beds were so comfortable. Only a 2 minute walk from the centre of Windermere and a great location for walking around the surrounding areas. Would recommend this cottage 100% to anyone looking to stay there.

  The only downside to our holiday was Sykes, the PERSISTANT bombardment of emails and texts from the time we booked to the time we left the property was incredible and could of ruined our holiday had we taken notice of them.....I will never use Sykes to book another holiday cottage..

• "What a beautiful cottage, it was spotless."

  The cottage is tastefully decorated and modern yet still has the countryside charm. Every little detail has been thought of, we could have moved in! It was lovely and warm even without the Log Burner. 2 min walk to the shops and the centre of Windermere, perfect location.   The location is perfect. The property is beautifully decorated and everything in it was very tasteful. We’d definitely recommend the property to our friends and family as a perfect place to stay. Our only negative observation (not criticism) is the bathroom. We felt it would benefit from removing the bath and installing a walk in shower along the back wall after relocating the towel rail. That done the bathroom would have more room in which to move the washbasin and toilet. The toilet seat didn’t fit and the space was a tad on the tight side for comfort.

We could have stayed and made it a second home as it felt like a "Home from Home". Looking to book again at "least once" in 2021.   Literally in the centre, next to local shops and restaurants and about a mile walk into Bowness on Windermere. The cottage itself is lovely with all the facilities you will need, including a washer and dryer. Only mishap we had was that it hadn't been cleaned but this was sorted with half an hour of reporting it to the office. Something to do with their systems. Would highly recommend.
