  • "I do love this lodge and the staff at the holiday park are always attentive and happy."

Beds are comfy and the Lodge gives off good vibes and we love going there, second time staying. 3 suggestions Shower towels/hand towels - there none and when I spoke to Sykes, they called me back saying it's in the small print, no towels provided. The sykes rep was a bit surprised and said most properties provide them. It was no massive issue but asking guest arriving to bring a towel did feel a bit unusual. Cleaning - bit more attension needed, mud splatter on the walls probably from a previous occupant. The shower door seal needs to be replaced as it's showing dark mould that is probably very difficult to get rid of. Outside lighting - this needs to be addresssed very quickly. You can't see where you are walking when going up/down the steps leading to the Lodge and as you can imagine, they are slippery. I fell over once and a few of my friends missed steps. Holding a phone light on or torch is difficult when carry heavy shopping. Apart from those two suggestions, great stay, great trip and will be back again soon. Many thanks.

  • "We were very happy with this lodge."

We were a little skeptical given some of the reviews about cleanliness of the kitchen. This was not an issue for us, everything was clean, oven worked well. The living room, bathrooms and bedrooms were all clean and comfy. There were just a few minor points, the fridge was turned off when we arrived and we didn't realise it was off until the next morning, the switch is behind the microwave. A note on the fridge explaining that it's off when you arrive and you need to turn it on behind the microwave would have helped. One of the mattress covers was very stained and dirty which isn't very nice. Like other reviews we found the lack of information folder unusual, there is no information about the lodge, park or local area (bar a few leaflets). Information about wifi, electric, bins, tv etc along with the park itself and the local area eg bus routes, taxi firms, emergency info if needed eg doctors, vets, dentists. The wifi didn't work at all while we were at the lodge and the phone signal is not great, o2 was ok for web browsing but google maps was very slow, three didn't work at all in the lodge so looking up information was difficult in the lodge. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. it was excellent value for money.

  • "The lodge is great and really comfortable and in a great location on the park."

We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the kitchen - dirty grill pan in the oven, a saucepan in the cupboard that hadn’t been cleaned and had what looked like baked mincemeat on the bottom with some liquid and there was a caterpillar in the fridge! The rest of the lodge was spotless and the bedrooms and beds really comfy. The shower over the bath didn’t work and simply needs a new washer. We were also really disappointed that there was not one wine glass and simply a mish mash of tumblers (some plastic). A complete set of wine glasses and flutes should be included I would have thought for the price paid. As wine drinkers we had to go out and buy some to use for the week. We didn’t let this spoil the week however and had a great week of walks in the area.

  • "Had a great stay end of August with my four children."

Lodge was comfortable, it rained the full time we were there and was a storm but that didn't affect us at all in the lodge! Only issue was WIFI did not work at all - it's a central one and the lady at reception said it generally only works in the actual centre. We only wanted to use it for our fire stick.

  • "We spent a lovely but very wet week in the lake district and stayed at Willow lodge which was very clean and comfortable, Unfortunately we found that the oven didn't work or the DVD, so after contacting Sykes the owners were with us within 20mins and within 2 hours they had replaced the oven and the DVD."

We felt this was exceptional service and care from the owners. The only comment I would have is that the table and chairs outside were not as advertised (even though it was too wet to sit outside). The on site faciities were Ok even though we did not use them. The main criticism is at Sykes as in no paperwork we received for directions did it mention that the Lodge was on White Cross Bay holiday park also not mentioned in write up about lodge. It did not help that the address of the lodge was also spelt wrong giving a completely different name.

  • "The lodge was very clean on arrival and had plenty of facilities especially in the kitchen for cooking, we cooked all 3 nights so was pleased."

However the only issue we had was that it had advertised a BBQ so we took food to BBQ on the Saturday night and when we uncovered it, it was filthy ! Grease, fat and dirt all over it. I was not prepared to spend my holiday cleaning it so had to use the oven which was not easy due to the fact that it was a grill/oven combination so cooking for 5 wasn't easy. Also on the pictures advertising the lodge a table with 6 chairs was shown and on arrival it was a small round table with 4 chairs - this was an issue because we were a party of 5 adults. We managed but it was just not what was advertised. The site was lovely and great facilities and perfect location within the Lakes to get around. We enjoyed our stay and would come back but I think you need to be mindful of being more accurate with your description of facilities - if its a six birth lodge, make sure 6 can sit round a table to eat. Finally please give your BBQ a DEEP clean so it matches the standards of the inside of the lodge.

  • "Willow Lodge was an ideal base for our stay in the lakes, it had everything we needed to make our trip comfortable, it was a home from home, only thing missing was a hoover which would have been handy as we had a dog with us."

Beds were alittle on the hard side for us but we soon slept after all the walking we did. Unfortunately there was a power cut on the Saturday that affected the whole park, we went out but power was still off when we got back. Overall we had a lovely stay.

  • "Was an alright stay all round but a few things let it down massively."

We couldn't get into the property until 5pm due to the key not being where it should have been (this should have been checked before our arrival) and a lack of communication. There was an wasp nest in the extractor fan in the en-suite - I don't understand how this hasn't been picked up before as it was loud and it's clearly well established and has been there for a while. Then some smaller but still basic and annoying issues were that the BBQ hadn't been cleaned, there was a pitiful amount of toilet paper provided and hardly enough coal for one bbq

  • "We were very impressed with the size and location of the lodge."

The inside was clean, spacious and had all the mod cons that helped us feel very at home. We didn’t use the gas BBQ due to the weather but this was a lovely addition to the wonderful outdoor furniture that was provided. Great facilities on site with use of the pool, however it did get booked up so would recommend to book in advance. The only gripes we had was the lack of WiFi available as we struggled to connect to the on-site WiFi due to it being a weak signal. It also would have been a nice addition to have a message from the owner with some information about the site, location and amenities to help with how to book swimming, connect to WiFi etc. With the booking not being through Park Dean, you feel a little lost with what you can and can’t access at the start. Also, a little mention about towels as there was confusion on whether these were provided or not-it said they were on some communications and not on others. The towels weren’t provided so please bring your own. Apart from this, the lodge was superb and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and a bit of peace from a busy pace of life. Thank you!

  • "Lodge was clean overall, however there were a lot of cobwebs."

A lack of saucepans made cooking difficult - we ended up cooking broccoli in a wok - but there were a lot of frying pans (?). Listing said 'access to swimming pool' but doesn't mention there is a cost. Otherwise it's a great base for exploring the local area and there's lots of wildlife around. It was lovely watching the birds come to feed and we also spotted rabbits and owls. Considering the close proximity of other accommodation it was very quiet and we would recommend it for a family.

Found 2 pairs of socks 2 pairs of under pants and a child's t shirt when we stripped the beds when leaving! They where tucked down the sides ! There is no way the beds had been changed ! The sheets looked grubby and Bobby ! Just glad we took our own pillows!!! We also had to clean the outside terrace which hadn't been touched for a while! The reception said that Sykes where responsible for the cleaning .would go to white cross bay again but book through them as bedding was delivered to other lodges and looked very clean and white ! We went out a lot walking but if you want to spend more time indoors you have everything you need also DVDs and games for the kids. Iron, hoover, kitchen accessories etc. all available in the lodge. The only downside was the club onsite was hit and miss. We ordered food on our first night and after a 2 hour wait we got our money back. We didn’t go back until our last day and we decided to try again, and we got our food straight away and it was lovely. We took our dog and he was welcome inside the club which was also a good benefit. A really nice place to stay, thank you!

The cabin was much nicer and larger than the photos showed, the outside was just as nice with lots of space and seating. The only criticism of the cabin was that the double bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable but the other beds were all comfy. There is a beautiful marina on site and a small woods to walk dogs and we even managed to see some deer there! We were able to use the swimming pool on site without having to book/pay for additional passes, and there are two play areas for younger kids. The location is also good as you are so close to Windermere and only a short drive to Kendal & Ambleside. Would definitely recommend this place to stay and we would definitely stay again.

Well situated on the site with good outside space. Very clean and well equipped. Some simlle improvements needed, like putting bins in the bathrooms, lights in the wardrobes of the two single bedded rooms, because rooms are so dark, and explaining somewhere on the bumf that you need to take your own towels. Lodge well maintained but Floors need renovating, carpet and laminate which are looking tired. Whitecross Bay holiday park where the Lodge is situated is in a great location with good facilities. Only criticism would be the site clubhouse is a bit Blackpooly.

The only slight negative feedback was that we couldn't get connected to WiFi, the owners had a decent enough dvd collection to suit all ages though so no major issue. • "We stayed at Willow Lodge with our springer for a week in May."

It was out first holiday taking the dog, but we picked this lodge especially as it had the decking which was all sealed in so the dog could play out without escaping. The lodge was amazing, it was just like being at home. There was everything you could think of in there, we needn't have brought all the little bits like washing up liquid and bin bags as it was fully equipped. There were dvd's, books, games, leaflets. The lodge itself was huge, two reasonable size bedrooms with 2 single beds in each (which we didn't need to use) but these both had TVs in them, and the main bedroom with en suite and small walk in wardrobe was perfect. Everything was clean and tidy, getting the key was simple, the site was well looked after, and there is even a place on site called Deer Park where dogs can run freely. On numerous occasions we were sat in the living area when a deer would appear right outside the lodge, such a wonderful place! We can't wait to return to Willow Lodge, I would definitely take my own pillow next time as the ones provided are very thin but that's no criticism, just personal preference! Such a lovely lodge in a great position on the site, very peaceful and not many cars passing either. Lovely holiday!

It had extras that other holiday cottages haven't provided in the past e.g. a whole weeks worth of dishwasher tablets, hand soap in each bathroom, foil and cling film, washing up liquid etc. There were also games and DVDs. The setting was lovely and peaceful, and well situated to explore the south Lakes. The only slight negative was that the kitchen sink plug kept draining the water from the sink, and there was no washing up bowl, so washing up was a bit tricky (although most things went in the dishwasher). Would highly recommend this lodge.

The property

Located in the beautiful scenery of the Lake District, Willow Lodge is a lovely holiday home situated in Troutbeck Bridge, just north of the popular town of Windermere.

This property has three bedrooms easily accommodating larger families or why not enjoy the space to get together with some friends where you can spend the days walking and roaming the Lake District.

Hop up the steps onto the veranda and enter through the front door to reveal a modern and stylish layout, moving straight into the open-plan living area where the whole group can relax together no matter what your preference; whether its lying on the couch watching the TV, sitting at the table with a glass of wine, or being the chef and rustling up a tasty meal!

After all that walking you'll need to relax and ease the achy legs so jump in the bath for a much-needed soak in the comfortably sized bathroom, complete with shower overhead if more speed is required.

The two twin bedrooms both contain two singles and wardrobe space for hanging, while the double room has a little walk in wardrobe and en-suite shower room so make sure you don't pick the short straw for a bit of added luxury.

Out on the decking there's a table and chairs for those warmer summer days for you to enjoy the outdoors, as well as space for up to two cars to park off-road.

The village of Troutbeck Bridge can offer you a bustling local pub with excellent food available and a few shops for the essentials, but for more choice you should pop over to Windermere or Bowness on Windermere where you can find a larger selection of bars and pubs with different dining experiences to suit everyone you'll be spoilt for choice.

The magnificent Lake District is England's largest National Park and is home to Scafell Pike - its highest mountain - but don't worry if you're not coming over for the walking because there's still so much it can offer.

Why not hire some bikes and take a ride around the lake with pre-planned routes for all abilities readily available, take a boat trip to take in the scenery from the water, or even better fly a drone over the countryside and document your trip from the air so you won't miss a thing!

Willow Lodge is in a great location for getting to know this amazing part of the world, and who better to share it with than your loved ones. Please note BBQ is no longer provided.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £80.
