  • "Beautiful cottage, probably the most well equipped we've stayed in, lovely welcome message from fiona the owner, and welcome chocs and wine and pup treats."

.. huge bedrooms, comfy beds, spotlessly clean throughout, 2 pubs serving food less than 2 mins away, as is dog friendly beach, beautiful quiet place, everyone was so friendly, had a lovely week despite weather being rainy for first half of week, my elderly dad lost his hearing aid, which was found by the new guests and posted back to us by Fiona, highly recommended accommodation with an owner who can't do enough to make sure guests are comfortable and looked after, thank you Fiona for sharing your gorgeous gem of a cottage

Thank you so much! Property Owner

The cottage is in a great location, fully equipped kitchen, the bathroom wouldn't be out of place in a luxury penthouse, comfortable beds in both large bedrooms.

  • "This is a lovely property, thoughtfully furnished and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay."

Allonby is a great place to mooch about with its history represented by many interesting houses. The beach is just fabulous with miles and miles of sand at low tide, great views across the Solway and spectacular sunsets. The Tea Rooms and Ship Inn both serve good food and are really welcoming to humans and dogs, as is the Lowther Arms in nearby Mowbray.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the cottage and Allonby and its beach! Property Owner

  • "Overall a nice holiday cottage."

Good size rooms. LOVED the bathroom. More rooms upstairs that are closed off ,so maybe could accommodate more guests?. Basic cleaning very good but sofas filthy under cushions, lots of dusty cobwebs in kitchen and between fridge and units never been cleaned. We stayed 2 weeks and were not offered clean bedlinen. Never had that happen before at other cottages. The owner uses a cleaning company so should perhaps do 'spot checks' occasionally.

  • "Disappointed that we heard nothing when we reported the dishwasher not working on our second day."

The filter in the dishwasher was filthy so we did clean that out to see if that was the problem - it even had a tomato sauce sachet in it. Otherwise the property was clean and very comfortable.

I received your message about the dishwasher later in the week and responded as soon as I could. There had been a problem with my mobile so I'd not received your message. All your other queries and requests were replied to promptly. The dishwasher has now been fixed and the light bulb replaced. I'm sorry you were disappointed. Property Owner

  • "This is the best holiday cottage I have ever stayed in."

It is warm, cosy and like being at home but much better! Very helpful owner too! Allonby is a gorgeous little village. Not a lot there but the beach and the cafe make up for that. The only dog friendly pub wasn't doing food while we were there and I was gutted that the wonderful chippy had closed. Silloth has a great dog friendly cafe - think it's called the Fairy Cafe and serves lovely food and marvelous cake. Keswick is always a good day out. It is very dog friendly. There is an Indian restaurant in Maryport that delivers for a very reasonable price and food is hot and very tasty. We had a lovely time even though the weather wasn't the best. Thank you Fiona for making the house so warm and welcoming. I didn't want to leave!

When we got there after a long journey we found some drinks, food to get us going for the evening, coffee, tea, hot chocolate. The house was very clean and welcoming. Bedding and towels were soft and cosy. I loved the thing that the landlady left a note on the fridge and all the handwritten recommendations on her visitors book. I wished we could stay there longer. Although it was the end of October, we loved walking along the sandy beach and scribbling on the sand. We were lucky to see the sunset, too. We drove about 45 minutes to Keswick and about 1 hour to Grasmere/ Windermere for wonderful views and plenty of activities. We had a great experience and really enjoyed the property

The property

Nestled centrally within the popular coastal village of Allonby is this charming townhouse, 3 Clarks Terrace.

Set over three floors, this coastal retreat welcomes families and groups seeking to explore the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and The Lake District.

Discover the open-plan living space, where the cook can take over the well-equipped kitchen whilst joining in the craic with the rest of the party.

The bedrooms at this Allonby cottage are situated on the upper floors; the first floor has two tasteful rooms with king size beds.

The downstairs luxury bathroom has a beautiful bath and separate shower, complemented by sleek fixtures and fittings.

Outside the charming rear terrace offers the chance to drink and eat alfresco.

The beach is less than 200 yards from the front of the cottage with lovely views of the sea and Scotland opposite.

The initial high-water part of the beach is shingle but for most of the day you can walk on a vast sandy beach that stretches in either direction as far as the eye can see!

Just let your dogs go and walk for miles, it is exceptional.

After dinner, take a romantic stroll at sunset, the views on a clear sky are breath-taking and something you will never tire of.

The village of Allonby has two pubs, a tearoom and Twentyman’s village store which has sold its homemade ice cream for over 100 years.

Just across the road from the house is an excellent self-contained children’s play area and the Solway Coaster Cycleway runs past the house and offers great cycling and no hills!

Hop in the car and head to Maryport, just 5 miles west, for shops and supermarkets (a good Lidl).

Enjoy the lovely, revamped harbour, and on the right day, buy some fresh fish from one of the fishing boats.

The Maritime Museum, The Aquarium and The Roman Museum are also there for a rainy day!

Take in the wonders of Cumbria with a holiday at 3 Clarks Terrace.
