  • "This was our second stay at Harbour Side and we will return."

The property was well presented and clean. The ever changing views are wonderful, tide in, tide out it doesn't matter, although the sun does make a brighter view

The property

Harbour Side is a comfortable two-bedroom flat situated in an attractive location, within easy reach of the Lake District.

Offering excellent views over the harbour and beyond to the Solway coast and Scotland, WiFi and reserved off-street parking on site, it is ideal for small groups of friends or families seeking a break in this awe-striking region.

The spacious and secure first-floor accommodation features a double and a single bedroom, a lounge with a smart TV and a fully equipped kitchen with an oven, microwave, fridge-freezer and washing machine.

The bathroom has a walk-in shower.

Bed linen and towels are included and the flat is warmed by gas central heating.

Several pubs and restaurants (and an excellent fish & chip shop!) are within a leisurely walk.

The Solway Coast is a superb area for walking and cycling with the Cumbria Coastal Way and Hadrian's Wall Cycle Path running right along the coastline, past the dunes of Mowbray to the seaside towns of Allonby and Silloth.

There are excellent birdwatching opportunities in the area and over 50 species of wildflowers can be found, including three native orchids.

Maryport is a quaint harbour town, established nearly 2000 years ago when the Romans came to Britain.

It has an unexcavated Roman fort next to the superb Senhouse Roman Museum.

Modern Maryport is based on a planned Georgian town and boasts a deep-water harbour and modern marina, an Art Gallery and a refurbished Maritime Museum, as well as other visitor attractions.

The award-winning Lake District Coast Aquarium with its popular café is only a two-minute walk away.

The Location: Maryport is situated within the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and on the edge of two World Heritage Sites - The Lake District and Hadrian's Wall - and, in addition, the Scottish Borders are just a short drive.

Within easy reach are the many attractions and glorious landscapes of the northern and western lakes, including Keswick, Derwentwater, Buttermere and Wastwater, while the Solway Firth is just a stone’s throw away.

The dramatic coastal route south, via Whitehaven to Ravenglass is one of the more scenic and peaceful journeys in the UK, ending with the rhododendron displays at Muncaster or the narrow-gauge Ravenglass railway.

Inland, the nearby market town of Cockermouth is famous as the birthplace of William Wordsworth and his Georgian family home is a popular visitor attraction.

Beyond Cockermouth, the Solway Plain opens out with pretty shore-line villages like Bowness, Port Carlisle and Burgh by Sands.

The City of Carlisle, with its ancient castle and cathedral, is the gateway to Hadrian's Wall and to Scotland.

All-in-all, a historic area, with beautiful scenery.
