  • "I knew from the moment we were greeted by our host that our stay was going to be great."

The little extra touches she has put into this wonderful holiday let are appreciated. From Sandwiches and cake on arrival, milk and bread, cereal boxes, sweets and crisps etc. All there to make our stay that little bit more enjoyable. Facilities inside were 1st class, excellent shower and bath with multiple fresh towels, airfryer, oven and microwave etc and all spotlessly clean. We visit the area at least twice a year and this is in my opinion by far the best around. We will be returning and have already re-booked for next summer....thankyou for a relaxing stay.

Thank you Ian and Cath for the wonder Review, you were both great guests and left everything spotlessly clean. I look forward to your return next year Property Owner

Debbie the property owner was very helpful and welcoming and the extras she provided made all the difference. As the property is all on one level it was perfect for my wife who has disabilities which restrict her mobility.

  • "Over the years we have holidayed in many dog friendly cottages but by a country mile this was the best one ever!"

It was so well equipped and furnished beautifully. The garden is amazing, we just couldn’t have wanted for more. It’s a little gem set in a beautiful location. Debbie is the loveliest lady and she went out of her way to ensure we had a lovely holiday, there are no words to thank her enough. If “Carlsberg” made holiday cottages it would be Scotia at the Pow! We will certainly be back ❤️

  • "As soon as we arrived we were made to feel at home, everything about Scotia on the Pow is excellent including the owner Debbie: who went above and beyond what we expected."

Debbie provided us with the best bacon and tomato sandwiches for lunch and ice cream whilst enjoying the sun in the beautiful garden, the night time light show is magical along with the peace and quiet and the biggest wind chimes we have seen. We will definitely return at our earliest opportunity.

  • "From the moment I entered the property I just knew I would be comfortable here."

The facilities are of a high standard with luxury and comfort in mind. I loved the decor, the lighting, the bedding, the abundance of fresh towels, to name but a few things. The host, Debbie, was very welcoming and thoughtful. Checking I had everything I needed and even popping in from time to time. She had kindly provided the essentials such as milk, breakfast items, butter, tea and coffee. This was much appreciated. The bed was very comfortable, the shower and jacuzzi were amazing and it was great having a TV in the bedroom for those lazy mornings. Powfoot itself is pretty and peaceful. Kinda special. I loved the local walks and wildlife. Further afield there's lochs, castles, Annan, Dumfries, Castle Douglas and the rest of the beautiful western Scotland to explore! All in all a very relaxing and peaceful stay. What a tonic! I'll definitely be back.

Deb thank you so much for the wonderful review ,I’m really pleased you enjoyed your stay and come back soon Property Owner

About the location

ANNAN

Dumfries 15.7 miles; Carlisle 20 miles

The town of Annan, a former harbour, lies on the banks of the River Annan, in East Dumfries and Galloway, and is steeped in history, with the area once the site of Roman camps and the workplace of the writer Thomas Carlyle. Each year, the town celebrates the Riding of the Marches, in honour of the Royal Charter bestowed by King James V, which involves parades, massed pipe bands and competitions. The area around Annan has many small towns, picture postcard villages and hamlets, plus beautiful unspoilt coastline, with sandy beaches and hidden coves. Visit nearby Caerlaverock Castle, one of Scotland's finest ruined castles or Annandale Distillery. Take a day trip and marvel at the majestic architecture of the grand abbeys of Melrose and Jedburgh or visit the northern Lake District and the historic Hadrian’s Wall. Annan is an ideal base for exploring this lovely area.
