"A great property - lovely and comfortable and with some lovely views - the property owner was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed at the beginning and end of our stay (lovely welcome hamper and milk and ice in the fridge, which is always very welcome upon arrival)."

"Our stay at Rose Cottage was perfect and had everything we needed for our 8 night stay."
The property was clean, had comfortable beds, and all essential provisions you would expect for self-catering. Extras such as books and board games were also provided along with tourist information. The conservatory was ideal to enjoy a coffee and relax during the day, with the wood fire in the lounge providing cosy space to relax in the evening. The external utilty room was a real benefit for us, where we could leave walking boots, etc, without taking these in to the main property. There is also enough parking for the property with access to one of the garages also provided. The location was great with walks in the surrounding area or a short drive away depending on what you wanted to do. The small village of Dalston has a shop for groceries, with Carlisle only being 15 minutes away for bigger supermarkets. The owners were fantastic, provided recommendations, and also very accommodating to assist us. I would definitely recommend Rose Cottage and would stay again if in the area. Thank you to Julie for letting us stay at your wonderful cottage.
Thank you for you kind review Louise, it was a pleasure to have you stay with us and hope to see you again. Julie Property Owner

Rose Bank Cottage is a great location, to visit the north, south, east or west of the area.
Your nearest hub of amenities is in the village of Dalston , which is very well serviced.
You can stock up on essentials; shop; dine out; enjoy fish and chips!
The village has a Post Office, Butchers, Medical Practice and Pharmacy to name but a few of its facilities.
There is a bus service from the centre of Dalston and a short walk to Dalston Railway Station.
For those who enjoy walking and rambling, Dalston has an excellent network of footpaths and there is one starting only a few yards from the door of No.6.
Many people enjoy a walk along the river Caldew and there is a dedicated cycle track between Dalston and Carlisle.
In the village square lies the red sandstone church of St Michael's dating back to the 13th century.
Just a short walk from Rose Cottage is Rose Castle the former Palace of the Bishops of Carlisle, which is not open to the public but can be viewed from the road or the public footpath.
Carlisle known as the Great Border City, lies 4.6 miles to the north of Dalston where you'll find The Lanes Shopping Centre, a haven for keen shoppers.
Whilst in the City you'll also have the chance to tour Carlisle Castle, Carlisle Cathedral which is very close to Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery or you could stroll along the River Eden or enjoy the various green spaces, including Bitts Park which is close to the Castle.
The Sands Centre is located within the City and has a vast programme of entertainment on offer as well as sports facilities, including a newly constructed swimming pool.
For a wide range of shops; eating houses; entertainment or night life, Carlisle has much to offer.
A short journey north from Carlisle takes you into Scotland and in particular Gretna Green, known historically for its runaway marriages.
Gretna has an outlet village with a range of excellent shops.
West Cumbria holds many attractions and a proud history covering waterways; industries and manufacturing.
A few miles south you can visit the Lake District which usually needs no introduction but having it on our doorstep is something to be proud of.
To the east of the area you can visit a major part of Hadrian’s Wall and various facilities demonstrating the historical importance of that era.
There is so much on offer in this area and so all we can say is: Why not come and see for yourselves at Rose Bank Cottage.
Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
