  • "The Lune at Box Tree Escapes was a fantastic venue for our family holiday over Easter ."

All the rooms are spacious , well planned and comfortable. The outside space is generous, the children’s play area is safe and secure. We enjoyed the hot tub the sheep and the beautiful sunsets. Being in Wennington we managed to visit many places all a short distance from the house. A great time was had by all.

  • "The Lune is a lovely property, however during settling in we realised that the property was not as clean as it should have been."

There was large amounts of dust everywhere, even plaster dust from when the property was built which ended up on our clothes from the cupboard space. There is also lack of storage space in the family room so we ended up living out of our holdalls for the week. The sofa was filthy with food stains and crumbs under the cushions. We even found an old sock and jigsaw pieces down the sofa and underneath the sofa was thick with dust. We found ourselves wiping surfaces down ourselves. In addition, disappointed to not have received a small welcome pack upon arrival which should be standard for guests so there was not even a scrap of milk for us. That said we enjoyed our holiday and would return if the above issues were addressed.

  • "Such a lovely place to stay."

Peaceful and quiet away from busy lives. Thank you Ian and family. The lodge was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend visiting Ingleton and it’s waterfalls (only 6 miles away) and the White Scar Caves. There’s also a 17th century pub just a mile away called Tatham Bridge Inn absolutely gorgeous food there and we managed to walk it with my 90 year old nan. The roads are bendy and there are some paths but definitely worth it. The closest shop is co-op it’s a bit of a drive into High Bentham which is also a lovely little village

  • "Had a fantastic 1 week stay at The Lune with family, just what we all needed."

Location was lovely, with a park onsite for the children to use! The lodge was very spacious, with the added bonus of the hot tub which was perfect after exploring the Lakes. There was building work going on during our stay which we were unaware of, however this is a temporary thing and didn’t effect our stay in the lodge but would have liked to have been told prior to arriving. We thought it might also be useful for future customers to have an information book in the lodge to give an in-site on the area, pubs, days out etc. Ian the owner was very friendly, and any questions we had he responded promptly. Really fantastic break away, to explore the Lake District and Yorkshire.

  • "On the whole a great holiday."

Few minor things, cooker slow to heat, couldn’t lock back door and still some building going on, though didn’t really matter as lodge was very private. Host was very friendly and even drove us to the local pub!

  • "Could of done with more cooking equipment- lodge sleeps 10 and there were no large pans /woks or serving bowls suitable for this quantity of people."

Would also love to see some robes for use after the hot tub, the weather was super hot so we didn’t need them but would benefit on a cooler night. Overall we had a great stay. Will definitely be revisiting this part of Yorkshire, countryside is beautiful and everyone we met were so friendly!

About the location

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country".
