  • "This cottage had the Wow factor, the owners thought of everything, we had some great days out staying in Hawes, we visited the Red Squirrel Trail, Aysgarth falls just 20 mins away, & did some lovely walks from the doorstep, the little dog towels in the porch & even doggy bags & a welcome pack we're just some of the things that added to our holiday!"

    Hope to return

We loved it so much we are returning next year and have already booked. The o ky suggestion we would give is having waste bins in the bedrooms. Apart from that amazing cottage.

What a wonderful way to remember this lady by. Thankyou to the Forbes Family for sharing your beautiful home we had a wonderful stay & our only dissapointment was that we couldn't stay longer. We look forward to returning at some point when possible. Very best wishes Jacqui Glenn Lhia & Jared Forde.

  • "Lovely cottage in a superb location."

Very comfortable and extremely well appointed. The welcome pack was much appreciated and the guest folder very useful. We had a great holiday. Wasn't sure what to recycle and where as recycling varies so much across the country. Perhaps a note in the folder would help. We came into Hawes from Hardraw due to an A684 diversion and I wasn't entirely sure where the property and access was. Perhaps a little more explanation in the joining instructions to identify the access to the rear of the property between the cottages and the sheds. Tried to get hold of the housekeeper to get advice on the recycling but the phone went to voicemail and the calls were not returned. Eventually managed it via a text as he's was away for a couple of days but. might be useful if that number could be transferred in the event of any major problem. I noticed that the lead flashing above the right hand side of the sitting room bay window had slipped forward. I suspect that if left, there will be the possibility of water ingress and damage. Thank you for a lovely time. You may only wish to publish the first section of this feed back as the rest is advice for the owners.

Thank you for the lovely feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay. Information about recycling is in the guest folder and a bin is provided in the sink cupboard. A list of normal and recycling bin days is displayed on the door onto the porch. Property Owner

  • "The property had everything that was needed for a holiday exploring the Dales - the furnishings were comfortable and were in keeping with the property and area."

Hawes center was about a 5 minutes walk, with all facilities at hand. Walks and hikes were also nearby so the car was not always needed. Great scenery to watch from dawn to dusk. Car parking nearby, unloading and loading the car was straight forward as short term parking space available. Great property, area and restful break!

Thank you for the wonderful feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay at Miss Burrow’s. We hope to welcome you back soon. Best wishes Carol and Euan. Property Owner

  • "The property was beautifully and thoughtfully prepared for guests, the welcome pack an unexpected pleasure, thankyou."

We loved our stay and could tell the owners had put so much thought into the house to make it a home from home. The only downside was the single beds in the twin room were not comfortable (son & wife stayed for 2 nights before returning abroad) and one of the duvets was really badly stained as I discovered when I stripped the beds. Also blankets covered in dog hairs were on the lounge chair (we are pet free). So only small things but I would want to know if it was mine. Please feel free to publish the first part of this review and keep the ‘negative’ comments solely for information as I would not want to prevent others from booking this lovely place.

  • "An amazing gem of a property."

Beautiful cottage in an amazing part of the world- we were a family of 5 plus our pooch and so many things to see and do in the area we didn’t move our car for 3 days. The house had everything you could possibly need, the owners had obviously taken a lot of time to think about supporting families, including lots of games, and dog friendly too. The little welcome pack was so nice after a long journey. The view from the living room was everyone’s favourite (including our dog) and there was a rush in a morning to get ‘the chair’ before anyone else to watch the lambs each day. Only small tip is parking is a short walk away, about a minute, but you can pull up outside to unload- this proved very tricky when there’s a car parked next door in driving back out. Would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone with a family who wants a relaxing time away in the Dales. We hope to be back soon. Thank you for letting us stay!

Comfortable sofas and cleverly disguised TV in mirror above traditionally tiled fireplace in lounge. Very clean and well presented and one of the very best holiday properties we have stayed in. Lovely area to visit and one we intend to come back too. Thank you so much. No designated parking with property but we found the suggested parking on the industrial estate 3 mins walk away which we used with no problem.

The welcome pack and the extras in the fridge were really appreciated. A beautiful home where a lot of thought has gone into the decoration. In our opinion, this property is top of the list of those we have stayed in and we fully intend on returning. We went there with our family and dogs to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary and it certainly felt very special.

The house is well-known locally as the home of Hawes primary school teacher Miss Burrow, who was born in the house and resided there for most of her 105 years. This pet-friendly haven offers the perfect escape for couples, families, and friends alike, with excellent amenities nearby and a great choice for those looking to explore the local and wider Yorkshire Dales area.

Head upstairs to the three inviting bedrooms, each with a Smart TV, to rest for the night before waking to open views of the surrounding fells.

Refresh in the bathroom when you wake and prepare to explore the area, with the choice of a bath or shower.

Make the most of the incredible scenery that surrounds this idyllic location and explore the North Yorkshire Dales on two wheels or on foot with easy access to the Pennine Way and many local walks and cycle routes, including the famous Buttertubs Pass.

The small scenic market town of Hawes offers a range of amenities including quaint local shops, pubs, and café’s, along with a weekly market and craft markets throughout the year.

About the location

HAWES

Leyburn 16 miles.

Hawes is a popular market town in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire and is regarded as one of the honeypot tourist attractions of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Standing between Buttertubs and Fleet Moss, the town is an excellent centre for walking and touring Wensleydale and the adjoining dales of Swaledale, Cotterdale, Dentdale, Garsdale, Wharfedale and Chapel-le-Dale. Take a walk around the Hawes Town Trail, Millennium Walk, Pennine Way or along the River Ure, which is nearby. In 1998 Hawes was awarded the English Tourist Board Silver Award for the "Best Day Trip Out". Modern traffic has long replaced coaches and horse drawn wagons along its narrow streets, but market day (Tuesdays) in Hawes is as busy as ever, with a farmers’ auction attracting sheep farmers from all over the north of England. Traditional shops, cafés and inns now cater for a variety of Dales visitors as well as the local community. The award-winning Wensleydale Creamery, made famous by the animated Wallace and Grommit films, is now open to visitors so that they can see the famous cheese being made and sample the end product in a welcoming café. In the old station yard you will find the busy National Park Centre and Dales Countryside Museum. The Museum is home to the magnificent collection of Dales artefacts by the two great Dales historians and writers, Marie Hartley and Joan Ingilby.
