  • "Our first time in a shepards hut and couldnt have wished for a better stay, location and welcome from the hosts."

The view from the hut is exceptional and the secureness of the garden for our dog made us even more relaxed. The village of Barnolcswick is lovely (bit too far for us to walk) but parking there is easy and free. Special mention to the Barlick Tap micro pub which is a lovely dog friendly venue. Easy trips to Malham Cove and Bolton Abbey as days out and even did the scenic Spipton to Carlisle train ride for fun and also enjoyed dog walks along the Leeds to Liverpool canal. A Great holiday with the Herdsman Hut being the star of the show -exceptional.

  • "A wonderful place to stay, with everything we could need for a short stay."

Bed very comfortable, and a proper bathroom with shower. The outdoor covered seating area is a great idea, allowing you to sit and enjoy the views over the valley even in the rain, and for us the enclosed garden area was perfect for dogs. The approach road is a bridleway and footpath down to Barnoldswick or up onto the moor for even more spectacular views.

The hut had everything you needed and the bed was really comfortable. The hosts were very welcoming and accommodating and reassured us they were there whenever we needed (and so they were). The outdoor area was fabulous and despite high winds we really enjoyed making use of the log burner and manages to do a little bbq outside. The location is very private and quiet- just what we wanted. We look forward to returning.

Thank you very much Joanne. We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay and were able to have a relaxing time. Looking forward to seeing you again. John & Alison x Property Owner

It had everything we wanted plus more. The weather was rubbish but we visited every mill in the area and had an absolutely fab time. The outdoor under cover bbq area was great especially with all the rain! We will definitely be going back in the summer to appreciate all the great views and walks they have to offer.

Thank you so much Debra for a wonderful review. We're so pleased you had a "fab" time, despite the weather. (I'm sorry about that - unfortunately, it's the one thing I can't control Property Owner

  • "The Herdsman shepherd's hut was absolutely amazing."

The views were tremendous. The burgers and steaks bought from the owners were exceptional. The whole stay from day one till the seventh day will forever be fondly remembered. The hut was cozy and welcoming. But the best feature was the outdoor wood burner and covered seating area which looked over great green rolling field views. We would return in a heart beat, we so much enjoyed our stay. It was peaceful and nurturing to the soul. We would highly recommend a stay at the Herdsman hut. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. And our dog loved it too!

Wow! Thank you so much Emma for your "glowing" review. We're so glad you took full advantage of the outdoor shelter, whatever the weather, and used the Esse outdoor cooking stove to , not only keep you warm and toasty, but to cook on also. Hopefully, we'll see you again in the future. John & Alison Property Owner

  • "Where to start!"

We try to get away at least once every two months and we’ve never returned to the same place twice. This get away was special. Sally met us upon arrival with a genuine welcome not a scripted well rehearsed speech. The whole experience was excellent, loved cooking on the stove. The outside views were amazing whatever the weather decided to do. We hope to stay at the hut again very soon. Thank you Sally for your warm welcome. Terry & Anita

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. Sally has done us proud, holding the fort, whilst we've had a, rare, few days off. We will hopefully meet you next time you visit us. Thanks again. John, Alison & Sally. Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed a superb weekend chilling at the 'Herdsman' hut which offered the ideal peaceful and private get-a-way in an idylic setting."

The accommodation was spotlessly clean throughout and offered everything you you would need for two people, ranging from very comfortable king size bed, fully equiped kitchen and suprisingly large bathroom with good sized shower. Our only regret was that there's no place to hang any clothes which wasn't a real problem for our 3-night stay. For us the best part of the 'hut' lay outside with the very private patio areas to the front and covered area to the side. Patio seating offered tremendous views across the open countryside to the hills and dales in the background. There is a bbq and a log burning stove on which we did most of our evening cooking (meat packs available to buy from our hosts). All in all would certainly recommend this hide-a-way to any couple wishing for a thoroughly peaceful and relaxing break. Lastly we would like to thank our hosts Alison and John who are very friendly and extremely helpful offering advice on local areas to visit and the scenic walks around this location. Thanks for making our stay a memorable one.
