"The cottage was lovely clean good location to all the village had a lovely weekend"

"Back Cottage is an ideal cottage for the family and the dog."
It was just the two of us and the dog. It was a very comfortable cottage over 3 floors. More of a town house. Beautiful yorkshire stone building. The view from the top back window (bedroom) is like a painting. Rightly so a stool is in place and you can sit and daydream out the window to such a beautiful view. It is exquisite. The cottage is near Salt Pie Lane. Beautiful cobbled little lane to the main part of Kirby Lonsdale. We have visited Kirby Lonsdale a lot and will definitely go back to Back Cottage. Very clean, very comfortable, very well cared for. It has everything you need for a short break. So much to do and see in Kirby Lonsdale and this cottage is ideal for anyone who has a dog. It has a little back courtyard with a little table and chairs if weather nice you could sit out and have your breakfast although small it is ideal. Our dog loved all the walks around the countryside and beyond. Lovely comfy bed on top floor . We did not use bed in middle floor. Beautiful log fire. So we had logs on such a lovely atmosphere in the evening sitting peacefully reading my book. Highly recommended. Top class for a visit for any family and the dog. We will be returning.

"Cosy cottage in a great location."
.steep stairs to the bedrooms and not suitable for the less mobile..Thoroughly enjoyed our stay..

"It was our second stay at Back Cottage, lovely cottage, brilliant location."
-
"Second stay at cottage and certainly won’t be the last."
Cottage is lovely and cosy, well equipped and great location. We never had issue with parking and considering dogs are allowed you wouldn’t know as it’s so clean and fresh smelling.
-
"A lovely cottage right in the centre of the vibrant town of Kirby Lonsdale."
We were only minutes from the church and bustling high street. The cottage was clean, well maintained and had everything we needed. Our only complaint was that the bed was on the small side, but then we are used to a king size.
-
"Have stayed here many times and enjoy its position near the centre of this lovely market town."
Clean and well equipped, we find it a perfect place to stay. Kirkby Lonsdale provides a great selection of cafes and pubs and always has a special atmosphere.
-
"Very cozy cottage centrally located close to everything."
cottage contained everything we needed and we will definitely be booking again.

"We had an amazing stay at Back Cottage."
The location couldn't be better, very central but quiet. A lovely time of year to visit and it made my celebration of my 60th birthday complete. A lovely cottage, very cosy and fully equipped. All instructions very easy to follow. The cottage was warm and beautifully clean when we arrived and having a log burner made it perfect. Thank you
-
"Lovely property and a great location to use as a base to explore all the local attractions."
-
"Another stay at this cosy cottage."
So convenient for exploring kirkby Lonsdale. Set in a quiet side road with hardly any traffic. Hope to stay many more times in the future.
-
"Arrived at cottage, everything ready, spotlessly clean, well furnished and everything you need for a brilliant stay."
Bed very comfortable in first floor room, the top floor room a little uncomfortable as mattress topper just slightly bigger than mattress, it makes you roll awkwardly. The cottage is really close to the main street with all the shoos, bars n restaurants. 2 Chinese take aways and an Indian restaurant with takeaway. The Royal Barn Brewery is great as are the other locals. We took our dog wth us, cottage had little yard that enabled him to go outside, fantastic walks in the area and very dog friendly in pubs and eaterues. Parked on brewery carpark you can pay for 3 and 7 day parking there , which can be used on carparks in area, we used at Grange over Sands which was very handy. We stayed 4 nights in the cottage, so on the last night parked near the Orange Tree on road, free parking there.

"Lovely cottage, it had everything we needed."
Great location.

"Such a lovely cottage well equipped and very clean and cosy."
We have stayed in Kirkby Lonsdale a few times but this cottage has been the best so far. Excellent location everything in walking distance no problems with parking and good we could pull up outside to load and unload our belongings . Lovely inglenook fireplace with log burner but didn't use as weather good. Cottage very warm didn’t need heating as seems to hold heat. Very quiet so good nights sleep was had by all . No need to take food as shop just around corner and booths just 10 min walk so buy as you need as both open till late. The butchers is excellent selling very good sausage and bacon and the pork pies are to die for .Lots of good pubs and places to eat on doorstep so no need for taxis. Had a few meals at orange tree which is further up the hill from church . Wed is steak night rump steak with all trimming £15 excellent value and very good quality.staff very nice too. Brewery is good for drinks , make sure ask for beer card get a stamp when buy their beer. Buy 9 pints get 10th one free can use throughout stay . The Milk Parlour ice cream shop is a must best ice cream I have ever had. We had a fantastic time and will definitely back. Thank you Claire your cottage is a credit to you .

"Lovely cottage, gorgeous views from top floor bedroom."
Everything you need for a great stay in a beautiful place.
-
"Lovely, extremely well equipped cottage in a great location."
Only down side which not much can be done about is the lack of door’s particularly to the second floor bedroom as noise carries up to the room, this was not made obvious on the cottage description. However two beautiful bedrooms.
-
"Another lovely stay at this cottage."
Clean with all modern facillities. Have stayed many times and will book again soon.
-
"Great location."
And lovely little cottage. This our second time staying in Back cottage.
-
"Back Cottage was delightful!"
Cosy and comfortable, very well equipped with everything we needed. The view from the top bedroom was beautiful and a lovely way to start the day!
Thank you for your review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay! Property Owner

"Great cottage in a great location in the village."
-
"Perfect cottage in perfect location."
A minute from the town centre and the river. Have stayed many times here and love coming back.

"Lovely cottage, perfect little break."
Parked in the Market Square upon arrival and spoke to the friendly owners, Jonathan and Claire for directions. The cottage is very simple to find. The location is perfect, as it is away from the hustle and bustle of the Main Street, so no traffic noise and very peaceful for a good night's sleep. The cottage is very attractive, very clean and on 3 levels. Ground floor has a nice lounge and inglenook fireplace, with an easy to use wood burner (easier than ours anyway!) and a well equipped modern kitchen. There is also a private small yard with seating, which was a bonus, as some of the neighbouring cottages appear to have no outdoor space...or just a bench at the front. Large double bedroom and large bathroom with bath and shower on the 1st level. A further large double bedroom on the 2nd floor with fantastic views to the fells. Parking was not an issue for us. We either parked by St Mary's church or up the hill beyond the Orange Tree pub. Usually spaces free up once the day trippers have left. Kirkby Lonsdale is a lovely little market town with plenty of options for food and drinks. Tip: No 9 Restaurant has a lovely sunny courtyard and between 12.00 and 15.00 has 2 'tapas' (more Korean/Thai fusion rather than Spanish) for £10, which are large and beautifully presented. Also had superb Ribeye steak from Dales butchers just down the lane. Excellent visit to Kirkby Lonsdale overall and would both recommend and return to Back Cottage.
Many thanks for your wonderful review and the useful descriptions and tips for future visitors! Property Owner

"We really really enjoyed our stay here."
Lovely cottage, well kitted out, clean and comfortable, brilliantly located in a lovely town.
-
"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Back Cottage."
The property was as described and had everything we needed, including a cool downstairs during the heatwave! I don't want to be too negative after a generally very positive stay but the TV is very small and as a non-pet owner the house, particularly downstairs, has a wet dog smell that was somewhat off putting and kept us out of the front room.
I am glad you enjoyed your stay at Back Cottage. We stayed at the cottage last week and agree that some of our recent doggy guests had left a smell. The carpet has now been professionally cleaned and the cottage is back to normal. The TV is 30 inch and we are considering updating to a slightly bigger one, in keeping with the size of the room, at some point. However, many of our guests enjoy the simple DVD player built into our present TV and this makes us a little reluctant to change it immediately. Property Owner

"Lovely cottage in a beautiful location."
We’ve stayed in Kirkby Lonsdale several times and love to visit regularly, so it’s handy finding a cottage central to the town, that gives you everything you could need. Cottage is a bit compact but suitable for us and would stay again. Although, we did have to leave one night early as the soft mattresses were so difficult to sleep on, but appreciate that’s down to individual preferences.
I am glad that you thought the cottage was lovely. The beds have memory foam mattress toppers on them. We have always found them very comfortable. I am sorry that you found them difficult to sleep on. Property Owner

"The property was tucked away in a quite alleyway, with access to a car."
Well presented and pet friendly. There is paid parking available two streets away, just a little inconvenient when raining. Overall we had a good stay.
Back Cottage is an old stone cottage and is very much in the centre of Kirby Lonsdale. Therefore the car does need to be parked elsewhere. I do send out information with suggested places to park, or there is parking in the town car parks - all within easy walking distance. It is possible to drop off luggage before parking the car. "Cosy cottage in central position and close to town and river."
Have stayed here many times and recommend it.
It is always lovely to have you to stay! Property Owner

"My wife and I stayed with our old labrador for 4 nights."
The cottage is in a perfect location near the town centre and the river walk and is in a quiet lane. The accommodation would be fine for four people but perhaps the lounge might be a bit cramped for four. As with most cottages, duvets are used for the beds with no sheet, however the quilt has to be big enough and this was not the case which didn't help me as I am 6'2". Overall we did enjoy our stay though as Kirkby Lonsdale is a lovely town.
I am glad you enjoyed Kirkby Lonsdale. It is a characterful town with walks, pubs, restaurants and shops within a few minutes walk of the cottage. We have two good sized double bedrooms with double beds, double duvets and bedding. The sitting room is cozy and has a log burning stove. Property Owner

"A beautiful cosy cottage, near the centre of town but on a nice quiet street."
Spotlessly clean. It had everything we needed for our stay.

"A really lovely cottage which was ideally located for us to visit the surrounding area."
It was really comfortable and clean with all the facilities that we needed for our stay. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again. Thank you, The Robinson's.

"Just come back from a few days at Back Cottage."
The pictures don't do this lovely cottage justice. It was a great location, spotlessly clean, and very cosy in this chilly weather. The furniture was really comfy, and we will definitely return. Thank you, Mr and Mrs McKay and Daisy.
-
"Enjoyed our stay at the cottage which was right in the middle of Kirkby within walking distance of everything but very quiet location."
Had all we needed and very comfortable for 2 people with no complaints. Will use it again if in the area as ideal base for walking.
-
"Great cottage."
Nice location with everything nearby. Clean. Not cluttered. Although my quest to stay in a cottage that has a pizza cutter continues. Parking is a pain I suppose but devil’s bridge is 2 minutes walk. Don’t change anything.
-
"We all really enjoyed staying at the cottage."
Very well appointed and looked after. We will certainly stay again. Only minor issues for us were a) one of the settees was very uncomfortable and b) a leaky kitchen tap. Neither deal-breakers for us but you did ask! Great cottage, facilities and location. Highly recommended.
We are glad you enjoyed staying at the cottage - hope you come again sometime! Just to let you know that the dripping tap has been repaired. We also ordered (in January) a replacement sofa - a process that was delayed by lockdown and subsequently the incorrect sofa being sent! We are hoping the new sofa will be in place soon! "The cottage was well equipped and comfortable."
It’s location was great as everywhere was in walking distance so drinks at the pub and nice meals could be enjoyed without having to drive out of the town. The neighbours and people in the town were really friendly. My mother had not been to Kirkby Lonsdale before and thoroughly enjoyed her visit.

"We have just had a lovely week at Back Cottage in a wonderfully scenic area."
The cottage was perfect for us, with the top room having great views across the hills. It was just a couple of minutes from the High Street but very quiet & peaceful. Lovely little back yard to relax in & very comfortable inside the cottage. We used the bus to get about to Ingleton & Settle, & the river walks were easy to get to and a restful way to spend an evening. Kirby Lonsdale is a characterful little town with quaint, independent shops. Would highly recommend this cottage as a wonderfully, relaxing holiday in a charming place.

"We arrived in murky weather to a beautiful, clean, cosy cottage."
We enjoyed our stay and we love Kirby Lonsdale and the walks for our dog.We won’t hesitate to come again.

"Lovely property, perfect position close to amenities, extremely well equipped."
Couldn't fault it in any way.
-
"Great cottage , fab location as we have family close by only drawback for us was no long mirror in bedroom, but other than that we had a great stay ."
-
"Super well presented cottage in the heart of Kirkby Lonsdale yet quietly situated behind shop / bars / restaurants etc so very quiet at night."
Refurbished, it appears within the last few years. Walks to all amenities plus the River Lune walkway which made an ideal morning evening walk or jog circuit. Parking is a problem EVERYWHERE in Kirkby Lonsdale. We unloaded and packed up fine outside the cottage and always found free roadside parking near the church as mentioned by the cottage owners. We considered it safe for our Morgan. Soft towels / linen etc, decent dvds for when we returned after eating out. Would definitely use this cottage again.
-
"Lovely little cottage in an excellent location."
Village is so picturesque with walks from the doorstep. Excellent base for a relaxing holiday.

Only DRAWBACK IS the small back garden and no parking facility, but overall a very charming cottage and would definitely go back this year

"Back Cottage is a lovely cosy cottage."
The cottage had everything we required for a week away. Clean and warm. Easy access to all the little shops within the beautiful village. Great walks along the river lune with the dog. From Ruskin view which is just a short stroll away, have the most amazing views up the river from an elevated position. I would recommend this cottage to my friends & family.
-
"Kirkby Lonsdale is very dog friendly with our dog being welcomed in all the local pubs/restaurants we tried."
The cottage is very conveniently located for easy access to all amenities but is still in a quiet location. We will definitely be back.
-

About the location
KIRKBY LONSDALE
Kendal 9 miles.
An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country’.
