  • "We had a lovely stay at silk cottage, we loved the log burner and the bed was very comfortable, the kitchen was well eqquipied however the microwave cuts out after a few minutes and we couldn't find a tin opener, the co2 alarm also flashes a lot all night and we couldn't find a light for garden or the front that seemed to work, the local pub is unfortunately closed and for sale, overall silk cottage was beautiful and a great location for exploring the Dales, we loved it and will return again in the future, it is also great that it is dog friendly and dog treats and bowls etc are provided which is lovely!"

  • "We had a lovely stay at the cottage thank you."

    You provided an in depth resume about the facilities and amenities of the local area and beyond. The one thing that I would suggest needs great improvement is the cleanliness of the property: The floors were dirty (lounge, kitchen and bathroom). The kitchen tea towel needs replacing as it was stained. Both settee were stained and crumbs were down the sides. The rug needs replacing (or cleaning). The bed linen was clean however I could see a lot of dirt on the bed frame underneath. The bathroom needs a good clean - the shower screen plastic thing needs replacing. I do hope things can be rectified- we would love to stay again. Thank you

  • "This is a lovely cottage, with great facilities and everything we needed for our 4 night break."

    We especially liked the little “extras”, such as dishwasher tablets & plenty of loo rolls provided. The king size bed was super comfortable and the information pack very clear & helpful. On street parking wasn’t difficult but pigeons pooped on our car every night/ early morning ! All the neighbours we met were lovely too and helpful. The small rear garden is an afternoon sun trap but is disappointing as it’s very overgrown & looks unloved. This is the only thing that lets this property down if you’re a garden lover like us.

  • "Beautiful, comfortable, cosy cottage, very well appointed."

    The garden is small but fully enclosed with lawned area, lovely to sit out in. Close to 2 pubs both serve food and are dog friendly. Lovely walks from the doorstep, particularly along the river to High Bentham.

  • "Lovely warm cozy cottage."

    Would definitely stay here again. Perfect area to explore Yorkshire and close enough to the lake district, Grange over Sands and Kedal. We enjoyed an interesting visit to Wensleydale and sampled lots of delicious cheese. Would definitely recommend this cottage

  • "This is a lovely cottage, very clean and fresh."

    Though not spacious, it has everything you need, including comfy beds and a dining area. It’s very well positioned, with easy access to great countryside. We didn’t use the garden but I’m sure it is delightful when the weather is right.

  • "The cottage was very clean and comfortable."

    It’s really cosy and well appointed. We felt right at home straightaway and the extra bowls and treats showed that dogs are most welcome (this was our 7 month old Labradors first holiday!) Car parking was on the street, although we always found a space really close by. The local walks are good and the village was nice and peaceful.

  • "Lovely cottage."

    Well maintained and appointed. Garden could do with a wee tidy up but excellent space for our dog. Really good cottage for a stay in this part of Lancashire. Lovely location with riverside walk to High Bentham. Sundial Inn staff could not have been more friendly and welcomed the dog too.

  • "It's a lovely property fantastic for the family and especially when you can take the dog that's a plus."

    Its nice and clean and it's just a wonderful place. there are only three things and that is a blind in the bathroom nowhere to wash your clothes but looking out side there seems to be an extra pipe coming from the landing cupboard? Which if there is a washing machine you should consider it to be used it . the sink and dishwasher pipe work instead of it going to a flood drain outside the back door it really shouldn't be piped into the main waste or even the other drain. They were the only three things but would I go back again that's a yes those three things it would be outstanding It's clean it's a lovely house the garden is enclosed and that's fantastic would I recommend this Holliday home and Sykes that's a yes 10 out of 10

  • "We had a lovely stay at Silk cottage."

    Everything we needed was there. Fantastically comfy clean beds, hot water, gorgeous decor, wonderful spacious bathroom with gorgeous flooring. Peaceful private garden. Lovely river walk & great market towns to visit. Arnside was fab! The welcome biscuits were yummy but the milk provided was out of date & sour I'm afraid but nice idea. I managed to park nearby ok too. I didn't know the area was famous for silk making so the cottage has a very apt name. I would highly recommend the cottage to anyone wanting to explore the area. Thank you

Ingleton 3.5 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 8.4 miles; Morecambe 16.8 miles

Positioned just west of the Yorkshire Dales, on the northern fringes of the Forest of Bowland, this lovely town is split into High Bentham and Low Bentham, with the babbling River Wenning running between the two. The town boasts an annual agricultural show, with handicraft, horticulture and livestock competitions, which dates back to the 19th century. In addition to this is the annual Carnival and funfair, entertaining a thriving community with workshops, music and many fundraising events. High Bentham has an array of public houses and eateries to choose from, and the railway station sits on the Leeds to Morecambe line. For walking enthusiasts, there are colour coded circular trails of different lengths and capabilities, right on the doorstep. Silk Cottage is perfectly located to explore the Yorkshire Dales, the Trough of Bowland and the Lake District and within easy reach of Kirkby Lonsdale, Ingleton (and Ingleborough), Clapham and Settle. The neighbouring village of Ingleton offers some wonderful caves and tumbling waterwalls, along with a year-round climbing wall and a good range of shops, pubs and places to eat.
