  • "Lovely property, clean and tidy, good parking, great location to either get out onto the fells or into town."

Nice bottle of wine to welcome us too ☺️ Overall a wonderful weekend stay and would definitely stay here again. Worked perfectly for us, plenty big enough with a spacious kitchen/dining and seating area at the front and lovely warm snug/lounge at the back. Main bedroom is spacious with comfortable bed. Minor suggested improvements that would help visitors. 1. The back garden could be made slightly more dog proof (for small dogs) if some mesh was on the right hand fence to stop littl'uns from wandering next door. 2. A few more instructions in the welcome book might be helpful. E.g. on bagging up rubbish/recycling/food waste, where to find supplies of large glasses etc (in the cupboard in the back room). Overall, a wonderful place, thank you

Thank you, Simon, I’m so glad that you enjoyed your stay. My changeover team who work so hard to keep things nice for guests will be too. I take on board the suggestions you have made and had not thought of either but can see exactly what you mean. I will let you know when they are done. Very best wishes, Carolynne Cotton Property Owner

The view from the patio and back of the cottage are beautiful. There was a nice welcoming pack, even for our pooch. We would go back again.

  • "Was a bit cold and no instructions on the heating system"

Hello, thank you for your feedback. With a gas fire in the kitchen, an electric fire in the sitting room and full central heating, with thermostats on all the radiators, I thought that it would be cosy for you. It is always difficult though to see things through unfamiliar eyes. I’ll try to make it clearer that I am always open to being called and try to sort things out swiftly. I had had guests say recently, staying just before you, that it has been too warm and they had turned the radiators down. But the week you were there was on the cusp of autumn and I regret hearing that you were a bit cold. I take on board that full instructions would be helpful and I’ll do that. I also think that both installing a Hive type system as soon as possible and asking the changeover team to check that everything is set correctly, before new guests arrive, are also things I could do to make sure the cottage is cosy on arrival, stays that way and that temperatures are reset after check out, if necessary. Thank you again for drawing my attention to an issue that is bound to be even more important as Autumn progresses. Very best wishes, Carolynne Cotton. Property Owner

About the location

SEDBERGH

Kendal 11.5 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 11.8 miles, Hawes 15.8 miles.

The attractive old market town of Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), with its old-world atmosphere, is not only set in the magnificent western dales of the Yorkshire Dales National Park but is also close to the rugged eastern fells of the Lake District. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th century church, has been a thriving community for hundreds of years, with a market dating from the 13th Century. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry-stone walls, stretching 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners, and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.
