  • "We had a lovely time aside from an issue with the water."

We had no hot water for the first 3 days. However, once I spoke to the concierge company directly (I'd left message that they had missed) this was fixed within the day. Lovely place to stay.

Many thanks for your review and pleased you had a lovely time, I hope that the issues did not affect your enjoyment and that we will see you back again. Property Owner

  • "No hot water for three days and nights , no access to wood for the wood burner (combination lock on wood store with no code given!"

) we reported this to the cleaners/maintenance staff but to no avail! Living room not vacuumed and cobwebs on lights in two bedrooms. Extremely dissatisfied with property and rather annoyed that no one has tried to contact us! Mr A P Williams

Thank you for your review. We are sorry that you experienced issues with the hot water. Our housekeeping team acted as quickly as they could have done under the circumstances and unfortunately there was a delay in collecting the necessary information from you in order to establish what the issue was and what had to be done to resolve it. With regards to the logs for the woodburner, these are not advertised on the website and as the property is self-catering, it is expected that guests bring their own, however we take your comments on board and may consider offering starter packs of logs going forward. We take pride in the cleanliness of the property and would like to reassure you and future customers that we always act on any issues that arise as quickly as we can, providing we are made aware. We are sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations and thank you for your comments. We have asked for someone from Sykes to give you a call to discuss these further. Property Owner

  • "Firstly we loved the location and the size of the property itself."

There was 7 of us and we had more than enough space to relax. We loved all the outdoor space! All the bedrooms were nicely sized and the beds were really comfy. The kitchen had everything we needed which was great! Only down side would be that the rooms were a little dusty and had alot of cobwebs everywhere. One thing to note about the property is that we had alot of issues with the lights going out and the water not working. On day 2 and 3 in the morning, the water stopped working so some of us couldn’t shower, even worse there was no water coming from the kitchen tap so we couldn’t even get drinking water or do the dishes. Eventually in the working it started working again however we noticed if you had the dishwasher on the water in the house would not work. Also if you put the oven on the electricity would trip for the outside lights. Overall, we did enjoy our stay at beckhall.

Many thanks for your feedback and really pleased that you enjoyed the property. We have investigated the problems with the water and there was a leak in the water tank which has now been fixed. We hope this didn't affect your stay too much, there is a number to call, which we would urge guests to call at the first sign of any problems. We have also let the cleaning company know about the cobwebs. Hope to see you back again! Property Owner

About the location

SEDBERGH

Kendal 11.5 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 11.8 miles, Hawes 15.8 miles.

The attractive old market town of Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), with its old-world atmosphere, is not only set in the magnificent western dales of the Yorkshire Dales National Park but is also close to the rugged eastern fells of the Lake District. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th century church, has been a thriving community for hundreds of years, with a market dating from the 13th Century. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry-stone walls, stretching 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners, and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.
