The property

In the quaint village of Thornton-in-Craven, a short drive south of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, rests this excellent, four–bedroom holiday home, Castleys.

Boasting exquisite interiors, an enclosed, furnished patio, and a gorgeous countryside setting, this wonderful property welcomes eight guests for the ultimate escape to rural Yorkshire.

This destination is an ideal choice for guests who love the great outdoors with the Yorkshire Dales, the Ribble Valley and the Pendle Witch and Brontë Country all within a short drive.

Park up and unpack before settling into your new lodgings, where the chosen chefs will find all they need to rustle up a delicious, home-cooked meal in the fully-equipped kitchen, which comes complete with an island where you and your loved ones can gather to toast to your holiday or catch-up on the day’s events.

Savour your food at the dining table by the warming embrace of an electric feature fire, or even alfresco on the outdoor patio, which comes with a fire pit and barbecue that you can light up and utilise when the weather permits.

This charming home has three outdoor terraces to choose from, where you can soak up the sun throughout the day with a glass of wine or cup of coffee.

As day rolls into night, retreat to the sitting area to cosy up on one of the three plush sofas whilst enjoying a film on the sleek, wall mounted Smart TV.

When sleep calls, refresh with a restorative shower before retiring to one of the four, well-appointed king-size bedrooms, all of which are decadently-decorated and prepared to transport you to a night of well-earned slumber.

On sunnier mornings, savour your morning coffee and the surrounding countryside landscape whilst seated on any of the terraces.

Thoughtfully positioned to capture the sun all day long, before you venture out from your fantastic new dwelling to explore what the local area has to offer.

The Pendle Way, the Pennine Way and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal are all within walking distance from Castleys.

Cycling is also very popular in the area, with undulating hills and winding country lanes.

In addition to Gisburn Forest, which is perfect for those who enjoy mountain biking trails.

Thornton Hall Country Park is situated just across the fields from Castleys, offering lots of seasonal events including Secret Garden nights with live tribute bands, DJs and serving the most amazing food and cocktails.

A short car journey east will bring you to the market town of Skipton, where visitors can spend a morning roaming the grounds of Skipton Castle and brushing up on local history at the Craven Museum and Gallery, before continuing north into the Yorkshire Dales National Park, which houses a wealth of amazing landmarks, including the scenic greens of Kilnsey Park, the awe-inspiring site of Malham Cove, and the peaceful streams of Linton Falls.

All of this and more is waiting to be enjoyed during your next stay at Castleys.

Where you’ll be staying

SKIPTON

Grassington 9 miles; Harrogate 20 miles.

Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2014, The Sunday Times named Skipton as Britain's "best place to live" and two years later placed it among the nine best towns in Yorkshire and the North-East. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the 1 mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short travel. Golf, swimming, squash, tennis and snooker are all available locally and the excellent public transport means the car can be left at home!
