  • "Beautiful, quirky cottage."

We loved our stay. The spiral staircase can be a little tricky and reversing out of the parking area needs a second person to help. However, lovely and cosy and the hosts were very helpful. Highly recommended.

  • "It was a lovely little cottage full of personality!"

Very cosy and warm. We really enjoyed our stay and we were sad to leave as it was relaxing. Very clean and the kitchen was well equipped. It's an excellent base for walkers, we saw a few places on foot and a short car ride takes you to places like Skipton and Settle, it did feel like we were in Yorkshire, I'll miss it. Thanks for letting us stay with our cat, he loved it too! It is on a main road, not a secure garden for dogs but this didn't bother us.

  • "Super little cottage."

Very clean and comfortable the kitchen was well equipped no need to take anything with you as it has everything you need. A unexpected welcome pack left by the host was a nice little touch they had even left the dog a little treat too. The cottage has lots of information of the local amenities. After reading other reviews regarding the stairs these were not a problem to us. Others had mentioned the noise from traffic again this was not a big problem please don't let this put you off from booking this beautiful little cottage we will most definitely be booking this again. • "Location is excellent, cottage is beautiful, but people of a certain age would not manage that staircase as quirky as they might think ."

It was scary coming down. It is also extremely noisy from the road so advise to take ear plugs as sleep is an issue.

  • "This property is lovely comfortable and quirky, perfectly situated within the village of Long Preston for when we visit our daughter, ideal that it has off road parking and a little outdoor space."

Kitchen was well equipped for the size. Looking forward to staying again in fact we have already rebooked it for Christmas time. The only downside was the main road outside is the very busy (A65) and does give some road noise - didn’t impact on our stay but is something to be aware of.

  • "The cottage was beautifully presented and spotlessly clean."

The quirky spiral staircase was a bit of a problem, but we managed. Hanging space in the bedroom would have been handy, there are two in the study, only one of which is useable. I appreciate it would be difficult to get a wardrobe up the spiral staircase. Apart from that I would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for something a little out of the ordinary

Thank you for your great review and also highlighting a slight issue. I agree there needs to be hanging space in the main bedroom, and look to redress this iin the near future. The spiral staircase is what is-perhaps you may be better suited to our other rental property in nearby Wigglesworth, Smithy Cottage, which has a more conventional staircase and layout Property Owner

  • "A well kept, compact traditional cottage with lots of lovely quirky touches which give it a home away from home feel."

The cottage is cosy and has a woodburner, which we loved. Bizarrely, we also loved the spiral staircase but this is definitely not for the faint hearted!

Thank you for the great review-we would love to welcome you back again in the future Property Owner

  • "What a stunning location, close to amenities and best countryside."

The accommodation itself was comfortable and homely equipped with everything you could need. The devil is in the detail and this place has it covered, even a torch hanging on the door handle for when your hound needs to investigate outside in the dark! Great holiday!!!

About the location

LONG PRESTON

Settle 4 miles; Malham 4 miles; Skipton 12 miles.

Long Preston is an attractive Yorkshire Dales village in Ribblesdale, twelve miles from Skipton (popularly known as the 'Gateway to the Dales'), four miles from Settle. To the north, the landscape rises to the fells, moors and picturesque valleys of the Dales; to the south are the wetlands of the Ribble Valley which, in turn, sweep upward to the magnificent wilderness of Bowland. The village benefits from several large, tree lined, village greens, with footpaths leading direct to the surrounding hills, and it also boasts two excellent pubs with first rate cuisine. The railway station on the edge of the village provides access to the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway line which crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. Nearby Settle is a bustling market town with a weekly market, the centre being dominated by the Shambles, an historic 3-storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, and the Town Hall. There is a good selection of restaurants and pubs and a public swimming pool.
