We hadn't stayed in Lincolnshire before and we were looking for a house with a pool so tried this new area. The house was great, we used the pool at least once daily. The green behind the house was perfect for the dogs. The bedrooms and ensuites were again lovely as was everything about the house. It's in a nice peaceful location and there are a lot of places to visit within an easy travelling distance. We will definitely will be returning.

  • "Lovely house with great facilities."

We booked this house to primarily play golf in the area, but unfortunately the weather wasn't very good the week we stayed. We did manage to play at 2 local courses Belton Park and Toft, we particularly enjoyed Belton Park, the course has 3 nines, it is pretty flat so easy to walk, it also has a herd of deer and it was quite impressive to see so many so close. Toft was also a lovely course but it was very hilly. We made full use of the swimming pool, table tennis and pool table, even though the weather was bad we still had plenty to occupy us. The house was very clean and had everything you need for a great family holiday, all 4 bedrooms have their own on suite. The owners were lovely and left a very nice welcome pack. We would thoroughly recommend this house and we will hopefully be back to play more of the local golf courses.

  • "Hedgefield House is ideal for a fun packed holiday."

Having an indoor pool and sauna was a real bonus. The pool was just the right temperature and about four foot deep throughout. Plenty of inflatables, pool side seating with bathing towels and mats at our disposal. The pool room itself was always cosy and warm. There’s a full sized table tennis table with bats and balls inside the spacious garage which is accessible from indoors. The full sized pool table was a really good one with various sets of balls including numbered ones which we used for our nightly matches. Outside the well maintained garden is a decent size for outdoor games plus beyond the gate at the bottom of the garden there’s access to a large field used locally for football etc. The sofas in the sitting room and the snug were all super comfortable and having three large TVs proved handy when football, rugby union and Strictly were all on at the same time. The kitchen is well equipped and clean with a great selection of matching crockery, utensils and serving dishes. There’s almost everything you’d need (although a slight shortage of teaspoons and saucepan lids!) We came a little unstuck as a family of four couples (siblings) as we all bring home prepared frozen meals and didn’t check beforehand how much freezer space there was so we were fighting for room in the under counter freezer. The house is situated on a residential road but once inside you aren’t really aware of that and having a Co-op store just a five minute walk away proved to be very handy. The guys played golf at a couple of clubs their favorite being Belton Park which is situated within a National Trust estate. They said it was stunning and were thrilled that the course was shared by the local deer! All in all it’s a house to recommend although as one of my brothers remarked ‘it’s a bit like home from home - lots of niggling little jobs need sorting’.

We were a family of 3 generations and it was great that each bedroom had its own bathroom, plus 2 more toilets downstairs. We loved the swimming pool and spent lots of time in it, the young boys almost living in there. We ladies enjoyed the sauna and the men were kept occupied with the pool table. Another bonus was the table tennis in the garage. The hidden gem was the gate at the bottom of the garden that led to a sports field and a game of football was enjoyed by all. Barrowby is a lovely village with a pleasant little play park and pub and the bonus is the new Co-op supermarket 50 metres from the house open all day if you run out of wine!

  • "All communication with the owners was very prompt."

We had to contact them a couple of times and they responded immediately and answered our questions. The property was due to have a maintenance week the week following our stay and there were a couple of things they were aware of that needed sorting. If I was being ultra critical I would recommend more mugs (as there were only 7 large mugs which for a property that sleeps 8 could be problematic). I would also recommend toilet roll holders for each of the toilets / bathrooms as well as locks on the doors of the toilets on the ground floor. I would also be good to have more cutlery, we did seem to spend out time washing up even after just one meal. This may all sound a little negative, but on the plus side we loved the property. It was spacious enough for 4 seperate 'families' to find their own space if they needed to but homely enough for us all to be together as well. The facilities are perfect, swimming pool, pool table, table tennis table etc etc etc, all amazing and just adds to the property. The welcome pack of bread, milk etc was a nice touch - what wold be helpful would be to have a folder on the kitchen table giving all the basic instructions on what to do when you have to 'check out' and other important information. However again the owners did answer my text immediately. We would certainly recommend this property and may even return ourselves (which we have never done before)

  • "Great accommodation with great facilities and spaciousness."

Compliments to the owners for welcoming us with small thoughtfulness essentials like milk , bread , eggs , butter & jam. Experienced a few inconveniences during our stay. We were not pre warned that the utility room plug was burnt out but credit to the owners upon calling them we did get an apology and electrician was arranged on the third day. We were informed a gardener was going to attend during our stay which would have caused us great inconvenience. But again when we requested the gardener to be rescheduled, we found the owners understanding. As for the swimming pool and the sauna it was great but lacked any warnings or signage regards to the depth of the pool , no diving since it wasn’t deep enough. Also instructions to fill the pool when water levels dropped due to heat. There was no instructions how to turn on/off the sauna. This is just an advisory suggestion especially for families with young children.

Many thanks for taking the time to write your feedback. I am disappointed with your comments as you seemed perfectly happy whenever we exchanged texts regarding the fuse and the gardener. You stated the fuse took 3 days to repair but in fact we didn’t know it had blown until just before you arrived on the Friday. A decision was made that it wasn’t urgent (it was for the washer and dryer ) and the electrician attended the property at 8/8.30 Monday morning. With regard to the gardener, again, your text indicated all was fine. Regarding the topping up of the swimming pool - we always visit the property mid week to check the pool water height and visually check the water quality in case it needs any mid week cleaning - it is something we have always done. Regarding the sauna and pool signage - this issue is being dealt with next week in our maintenance week. Property Owner

Whilst the property is 5mins drive in to Grantham, it is located in a pretty little village just off the A1 and as a pub, children's playground and COOP all just a few minutes walk from the doorstep. We found the house perfect for our family of 6 adults, 2 children, small toddler & pooch. Loads of space, very comfortable and amazing facilities. Whilst the whole family had fun in the swimming pool, my teenage grandson also loved been able to have his own space chilling in the seperate snug room. We had wonderful weather all week, which enabled us to enjoy bbq's in the large private garden and take advantage of the secret gate that allowed us easy access to a huge playing field to walk our four legged friend. We also enjoyed family days out at Southwell races, Twin lakes theme park and took the Three shires boat trip on the Grantham Canal, all of which are recommended. Thank you Hedgefield House for allowing us quality time, to make more family memories.

The beds were extremely comfortable and there were local shops and nearby places to eat. The welcome pack of groceries was much appreciated. Our main reason for booking was the swimming pool - the pool table in the lounge and table tennis in the garage were an added bonus. The 'checking in' notes at the property requested that we keep the pool topped up as there was a slight underground leak. Unfortunately, we soon discovered that two of the ensuite showers were leaking through the ceiling - one into the hall cupboard and the other through one of the hall light fittings. These were resealed on the Monday and ready to use on Tuesday. The facilities are lovely - we were just unlucky with the showers.

We loved the swimming pool and the view of the garden behind it. We played pool loads as it was in the lounge area. There was the sauna near the pool, which was good. It was great all the bedrooms having ensuites. The kitchen was great with the dining area, lots of space and room to have family meals together. There was table tennis, loads of games as well. The balcony/terrace which you could go out onto from the 2 back bedrooms was good, but due to the time of year didnt make use of it. It was nice that there was bread, butter, tea, sugar, toilet rolls left plus a lovely bottle of Proseco. We would definitely lovely stay here again, but in the summer. The kitchen and dining area was spacious enough for all 6 of us to be together for meals without being crowded together. The separate sitting room and living room meant that we could watch different things (Euros and Wimbledon on at the time). The utility room was a great bedroom for the pets, with a sink and plenty of worktop to prepare their meals apart form our food, there was a side door which led to the garden. Also two toilets downstairs which was very useful. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, couldn't use the upstairs terrace as much as we would have liked due to rain. The pool is fantastic, straight through from the living room and being able to swim and see into the garden where the dogs were playing. The sauna and pool table were great too. Access via the back gate into a field for the dogs and 2 of us who went jogging before breakfast was so easy. The village is also lovely with a very good butcher and a pub doing meals. Small supermarket only 5 mins drive away and Grantham very near for bigger shops. The owners came soon after we arrived to advise about the pool and were very welcoming and nearby if we needed them. They have kitted out the house perfectly.. and have clearly thought through the use by families. (Inflatables in the pool, racket/games equipment and various board games etc.) In the cinema sound room there is a huge range of CDs and DVDs to try out! The large smart ultra HD TV in the kitchen was the most useful... being able to connect to the internet, play YouTube music and access Netflix etc. The lounge TV didn't allow this.. so maybe an upgrade or smart box would help for those who want tech! The pool is fantastic. The sauna sublime. Various chairs and tables meant you could sit poolside, watching the children have fun whilst enjoying a cooling drink. The huge lounge was very comfortable and a newly recovered pool table that sits at the back of this room meant you are never bored! The kitchen is well equipped with mostly brand you equipment - all of high quality. The kitchen was a dream to use and thanks to the local butchers 2 mins walk away.. we ate in every night! The utility room is huge.. and doubles up as a dog safe room for bed time for pooches. Bosch washing machine (whisper quiet!) and tumble dryer are a welcome addition. The bedrooms are all double sized with various ensuites. Super showers with side jet, Jacuzzi bath, and even dual sinks in one room. The beds and furniture are nearly all brand new. Quality again. The mattress (thanks to John Lewis) is the most comfy we've ever slept on! (And now added to my own wish list!). The house feels like your own home thanks to the soft furnishings and tasteful decor and artwork. Fresh flowers in the kitchen and in some bedrooms also made it feel very special and welcoming. Sue and Andy are not far away.. so if anything is needed or any problems they are right there. In fact a passing comment from my wife about gin glasses missing... ended with Andy delivering 4 to us within about 20mins! We we're so grateful to stay in such a lovely place, with lovely hosts and their personal recommendations on walks, food, pubs... all made life very easy and very relaxing. I would recommend here any time.
