The village High Street is one of the finest in the region with many examples of Georgian and early Victorian period features. The streets radiating from the Market Place at one end, and from the Church at the other, also contain many buildings, grand and small, of architectural interest. In the village market place lies a statue of John Harrison, a famous clock-maker and inventor, surrounded by a selection of local shops, a convenience store, a butchers and a pub.
