  • "The property itself is lovely and spacious, loved the conservatory particularly."

I have to admit there is nothing around too do unless pubs if your thing, be prepared to travel to something else. The owner lives up the road, he was around to help if you required it. He asked how our stay was going, there were a problem with ants, he came around with traps for them so was prompt.

  • "A fantastic weekend in this gorgeous abode, clean and beautifully decorated ."

Plenty of room for 8 adults with a lovely garden to sit in and enjoy the sunny weather. The house is enclosed and private. The owner, Nick, was there to greet us and showed us around the house. He also owns La Anchor, a restaurant across the road.It serves large portions of tasty Italian food and is well worth a visit. A great stay in Hensall at the Dovecote Farmhouse. Thank you Nick.

The garden was smaller than appeared in the photo but with 2 handy play areas in the village the children were well catered for.

  • "Beautiful house."

Fabulous decor throughout. We loved staying there and very close to our friends that live near by. Property was very spacious and clean. Very quirky. Beds were super comfortable. Bathroom was huge and loved the shower. Private parking in gated courtyard kept cars safe. Owners restaurant across the road is superb. Portions were huge. Few things that would’ve improved our stay would have been a downstairs toilet instead of having to go upstairs, another tv perhaps in the kitchen/conservatory so the oldies can watch one while the teens watched something else and a couple of items that I missed in the kitchen was a potato peeler and a potato masher. These would have improved our stay but it was still excellent and we will not hesitate to return again.

  • "We stayed in September 2023 for four nights."

The cottage was large and well laid out with four good sized bedrooms an plenty of seating in the lounge. There are a number of steps inside the property so perhaps not so suitable for the less able. However ideal for our stay. Lovely conservatory attached to the kitchen provides a great additional socialising area. Well fitted kitchen with good fridge freezer made it easy to cater for ourselves when we wanted to although would benefit from a coffee machine. Excellent meal at owners' nearby restaurant - La Anchor and a number of local country pubs nearby.

The property was clean and kept to a high standard. The owners and their family were incredibly welcoming and very helpful too. The restaurant La Anchor across the road is definitely a hidden gem too.

  • "As a group of friends we tend to book a cottage close to Christmas for a pre get together."

This one was convenient as it was closer than our usual destinations. It most certainly did not disappoint. From the very off the owner was very attention, nothing was too much trouble for him. He went above and beyond to make all 6 of us feel comfortable. The house was immaculate and very well equipped with all the mod cons. The log fire was great given how cold it is in December. The beds were extremely comfortable. The area is nice, quiet and relaxing. There is an Italian restaurant over the road which I would highly recommend. La anchor. Overall I cannot complain about absolutely anything. We’ve had a wonderful time and most certainly will love to return. Thank you to the owners for the personal touches. This place is a hidden gem.
