  • "The main positive of this property was the location of the bungalow as it was extremely quiet and peaceful."

It was very spacious and the parking was good. The bed in main bedroom was great. We still managed to have a good holiday overall but feel very let down on many major points. We were very surprised at the many reviews saying the cottage was “spotlessly clean”. We had to clean a lot to feel comfortable staying for the week. Many areas were not nearly as clean as we would expect for what we paid. The kitchen tap where the water came from was black when I wiped it, with dirt/mould. This meant we had to use bottled water. The kettle was filled with chunks of limescale and was the worst I’ve ever seen. We bought vinegar to descale this. The conservatory off the single room had an ants nest at the side of the floor and there were so many dead flies lying around. We did not use this room for this reason. The garden was so overgrown you couldn’t walk the whole way round. When we used a cleaning wipe on a table in the livingroom it was brown after. The kitchen bin lid was dirty. The bathroom was soaked after every shower. There was mould in the grout of the tiles. The carpet in the livingroom was stained and sticky feeling. The sofas in the livingroom were stained. The whole cottage smelled faintly of old cigarette smoke especially in the bedrooms, and also could smell dogs. We were so dissapointed with all these things and felt really let down. We paid a good amount of money to stay and expected it to be cleaned to a reasonable standard and be able to use all facilities (conservatories, garden, kitchen tap etc). We would have complained during our stay but after having brought young children we wanted to make the most of it and not have to deal with owners coming round and disrupting our holiday. Very poor value for money and disappointing considering it could be such a lovely property if cleaned well and maintained better. Definitely would not stay again.

Only drawbacks, garden hadn't been checked I removed 3 lots of dog mess, the toilet brush was disgusting. Usually it has been bleached. Also we had to Google oven as controls round knobs had worn off. So perhaps a laminated picture would be handy. But I would stay again as it was a lovely bungalow.

Very quiet estate. Secure parking. Comfortable beds. We slept very well. Good seating. WiFi good. Quality smart TV. Cosy and warm. Good shower but not suitable for those with limited mobility. Very dog secure garden even for small dogs. Convenient location on edge of Skegness. A few minor issues that need addressing IMO. Only two knives. Frying pan useless. No oven glove or tea towel. There was no hand soap in either kitchen or bathroom. No salt or pepper and no welcome pack whatsoever. You will need everything from minute one including milk for a cup of tea. Cooker oven really needs better instructions or replacement as markings have rubbed off through use. No washing up bowl. But these are minor issues and I would stay again if visiting area again. I would recommend this holiday let.

The bungalow is clean and well furnished and kitted out as a home from home. The kitchen has everything you need and more! The dishwasher was easy to work and fast. There is also a washer and dryer. The heating worked well and it was really cosy. The garden was maintained and I should imagine is summer is a great place to relax. Skegness itself was a pleasant surprise. Lots of individual shops, very clean and lots of good places to eat. I definitely recommend Bumble Bee cottage and would like to return in the future.

However the carpets throughout the property are stained cream colour maybe wrong colour for pet friendly let. No instructions for the use of the electric oven. We were unable to use it as the temperature and zone dials have no settings positions visible. Garden area was not usable as the furniture was full of dead insects, leaves as well as cushions stained and wet. Also overgrown bushes at the rear and side of the property. I am afraid we will not look to book this property again for a property that has a 4 tick rating for us it fell short of expectations. Not value for money because of the issues we encountered

  • "Of all the properties we have rented through Sykes this was the best equipped."

The property has obviously been well cared for and maintained. Kitchen equipment levels were much better than we had expected, which pleased us greatly. The sun lounge, with it's reclining armchairs, was much appreciated during a short period of inclement weather as it allowed us to watch a short lived thunderstorm in comfort. The chairs were marvellous for catching up on our reading, also. Everything we needed to enjoy our holiday was available at the cottage and we were very pleased with our rental. One small niggle: the main bedroom faces east so at 05.00 the sun shone brightly into the room, disturbing our sleep. We managed to come up with an easy fix but a pair of lined curtains would be a good idea, otherwise absolutely no complaints just highly recommended.

Loved the sun room at the back. Could relax and view the lovely surroundings and bird life. There were a couple of issues that need addressing. The shower head needs replacing as it’s impossible to avoid soaking the bathroom as the spray goes everywhere. Also the t.v. reception is poor. We couldn’t watch any of the available channels as the picture kept breaking up. Luckily Netflix was available which was a plus. We could see from the guest book that both these problems have been highlighted before. Bottom line is that we have been charged for services that simply weren’t there and should have been fixed.
