"A lovely property, spotlessly clean and welcoming."
Everything we could need. A well laid out tidy garden and easy access to Lincoln etc Only minor negative was no freezer compartment for ice. Would definitely recommend and we'll certainly stay here again

"Need to update the information regarding the shop ( which has been knocked down and moved further away) and the local pub which has also been knocked down."
Otherwise enjoyed our stay, bus service to Lincoln good and bungalow situation good for getting around the Lincoln area. Only thing lacking was hooks for clothes in the shower room.

"Property is in a great location."
Quiet street. Public transport links and walking to Lincoln is a flat easy walk only 40 mins away. The bungalow itself needs some TLC and updating. The bungalow was clean and tidy but is looking very dated. There is no freezer in the kitchen, not even an ice box in the fridge. The cooker is not located very well meaning food has been easily spilt down the gaps and not easy to clean. Food residue in the recess by the cooker when we arrived. Overall we enjoyed our stay and enjoyed Lincoln as a place to visit. I wouldn't stay at Albert's Lodge again unfortunately.

"Very dated property and even smells old."
Three piece suite needs replacing. Front bedroom bed and mattress needs replacing. Television needs updating. Shower is tiny with nowhere to put shampoo/soap etcetera. Bathroom sink takes forever to empty. No freezer. Blunt kitchen knives and stained chopping boards. Not even any salt and pepper. Three sheets of tatty A4 paper with limited instructions (laminators are not very expensive!) Drive a very, very tight squeeze for our wheelchair accessible vehicle. Great, quiet location but could be so much better with a little investment. Definitely overpriced for what it is. Begrudgingly bagged the bedding and towels we used as per the tatty instructions. We left early as we couldn't face another night. Would only return if it was updated to a much better standard.

"Clean with plenty of space and large garden."
Owners were very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this place as it’s easy to get in and around the city and there is parking on the road too. Bus route at the end of the road which takes you to town and a park 7mins walk away. Thank you

"Very nice and comfortable"

"Could do with a few more teaspoons and a washing machine, also access to the driveway is a bit tight"

"The property was a home away from home."
The only issue was being given a few hours to move out after booking for an extension more than a week previously. This left us stranded. Thanks to Sykescottages that refunded the 2 weeks payment promptly. It was wrong to wait till the last minute before being told our stay could no longer continue. This was very distressing to hear. Sykescottages looked for alternatives which could not work for us.
Thank you for your review. We are delighted to hear that you found Alberts Lodge to be “a home away from home.” We are sorry that we were unable to facilitate the extension of your booking, which, as advised previously, was due to unforeseen circumstances. We did ensure you were refunded as quickly as possible. Thank you once again for your feedback. Property Owner

"Albert's Lodge was a great place for us to stay."
There was plenty of room for just two of us. It was in an ideal location, and was set in a quiet street. We could just see the Cathedral from outside the property. The accommodation was totally adequate, and we had all the facilities we needed. The bungalow was clean and comfortable, and access with the 'key box' was easy too. Had we not had a map of the area, we would have had difficulty finding it from the instructions given though, as we apporached it from the ring road! We did meet one of the owners, who was very polite, when he came to put the bins out. We appreciated his doing that, as we had no idea when they were to be put out. All in all a very enjoyable place to stay.

"The bungalow was well-equipped very clean and in a quiet location."
However the beds were so uncomfortable we had to sleep on sofa and use one bed but sleep on top of 2 quilts This then ruined the stay as we didn't get a good night's sleep

"I booked Albert's Lodge for my son to stay during his visit from London."
The house is very bright, clean and more spacious than expected. The bed linen looked beautiful and excellent quality. The garden is quite spacious and private and the neighborhood seems very quiet and peaceful. The location is great with easy access to Lincoln and all it's attractions. I do feel that the house is looking a little dated in parts and that with a few inexpensive additions and tweaks it could look a little more inviting and cosy. My son really enjoyed his stay but felt (given the place is large enough for a family) that a washing machine would be helpful.

"Nice comfortable cottage but starting to be aged now"
-
"Shower cubicle would benefit from having a soap dish fitted A hook on bathroom door would be useful Kettle could do with replacing as lid sticking and generally difficult to use Helpful to have more operational instructions (for example on waste disposal) Surely the forms could be laminated and cleaned after a each booking?"
-
"This was a lovely stay, a beautifully kept, comfortable house a short drive from the city centre and large supermarkets."
A great introduction to Lincoln!
-
"IT WAS A LOVELY BUNGALOW VERY CLEAN AND TIDY MOST COMFORTABLE."
SHOPS VERY CLOSE. LOVELY COUNTRY PARK ACROSS THE ROAD BEAUTIFUL WALKS. LINCOLN CITY WAS ONLY A SHORT BUS RIDE WHEN WE DID NOT WANT TO TAKE THE CAR. ALL IN ALL A VERY RELAXING WEEK.

"Cottage was fine"

"Bungalow was very clean and well equipped."
There was access to a large, well maintained garden. Hartsholme Country Park is 10 minutes away and lovely to walk around. Lincoln with its Castle and Cathedral was a short drive.

"Bungalow is basic, old fashioned but clean inside, outside windows, sills ,doors and seating area need cleaning and painting."
The shower is small and with a high step up into it and no grab rail not very accessible for older people with slight mobility issues. There are no mattress covers, with covid I think these should be in place and draws in the front bedroom would be handy The kitchen pots, pans cutlery and crockery are a all a mishmash and need updating. The toaster base is broken and for a family of 5 a 2 slot toaster is not big enough. The microwave is rusting inside, needs replacing and the oven was dirty inside as we left it, I didn't use it. Kitchen floor covering needs replacing. With a little bit of money this Bungalow could be really nice and a 4 star.
Thank you for your feedback and highlighting areas for improvement. We do take all guest feedback seriously and made a visit to the property within 24 hours of receiving the information. Following the visit we have acted on the issues raised by yourself and also things we noted during the visit by purchasing new items including microwave, pans etc. We do understand there is a need to decorate the outdoor seating area however this had to be postponed as we do not want to disturb guests with work taking place during their stay and this is to be scheduled for later in the year. I would also like to assure you that we have discussed your concerns regarding Covid safety with our cleaning contractor and made them aware the lack of mattress protection did not meet expectations particularly as mattress and pillow protectors are provided and should be changed on all beds along with the bedding, after each guest has vacated. We have received assurance this will not occur in the future. Thank you again for your feedback. Property Owner

"Convenient for bus into Lincoln and very close to Hartsholme country park and lake, with pleasant walks, and a cafe."
Lincoln cathedral tour, and Castle/Prison tour excellent. Good shopping in Lincoln. Pleasant neighbourhood.
-
"Very nice cottage with garden close to Lincoln."
If you like, ýou can walk from the cottage to Lincoln, it takes about 45 mins. A big park with a lake is just a couple of minute away from the cottage. A small food shop and a bus stop to the town are also very close to the cottage.
-
"1st class property in a lovely quiet area."
Bus stops nearby for a frequent service to & from the City. Local people very friendly and helpful. Nearby Country Park well worth a visit. Thank you Lincoln!
-
"The house and garden were both lovely but not sure if there had been anyone staying just before us but much of the cutlery, china, glasses, pots and pans were not very clean."
the dishwasher worked perfectly well so not sure why this had been the case. most cottages have cleaning products onsite but there was nothing here, also a small clothes airer would be useful as we seemed to pick some rainy days. apart from that all ok. bus stop for the city in Ashby Ave just about ten mins away No6 was the one took you right into the city.
-
"Lovely, clean bright cottage - pleased there was a cot and high chair for our 9 month old baby - lovely to get there after a long journey and find the bed and cot made up ready."
Nice touch with the tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits. We will be back....
-
"On the whole it was excellent but for a few small matters, the lighting was very poor with the smallest low energy bulbs and dark shades."
Lamps which were useless. Shower did not have a holder for shampoo etc. or support bar. No shaver / tooth brush point. Bedside tables poor. Cooker and dishwasher with no instructions. No freezer unit, just a larder fridge. Otherwise the bungalow was very well equipped and of an excellent standard.
-
"Really nice bungalow, welcome basket on arrival."
It is on a pleasant housing estate so don't expect views of countryside. Large garden with enclosed veranda, we went when it was very hot so a lovely place to sit. Ideally situated for Lincoln 5 minutes away. Country park just up the road with lakes and a cafe. If we visit this area again would definitely book again.

"Alberts lodge was just like home, lovely location & very peaceful, had great holiday as we know Lincoln very well Also near to everything including bus stops & local shops, although we had hire car for going places."
-
"It was exactly as advertised and in a quiet residential area."
-
"The bungalow was very good but the shower was rubbish"
-
"The accomodation was well equipped and warm and cosy in cold weather, it was snowing when I arrived and the heating had been adjusted to take account of the cold snap!"
The bungalow is in a great location for walkers, being close to paths and cycle ways and Heartsholme and Swanpool lakes. There are walking cycling paths to Doddington Hall, Skellingthorpe and the Fossedyke canal. It is only a few minutes walk to local busses and a Co Op store
-
"Alberts Lodge is in an ideal location for touring the Lincolnshire country side."
The cottage was extremly well appointed and comfortable. Due to the cold weather the owners (Angela and Richard ) called to adjust the the heating so we would not be cold during the night, not required as the cottage was very warm. Public transport close by to take you in to Lincoln. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, nice and peacefull
-
"Great place, it's a bit far from Lincoln though."
Very convenient that there's an Aldi close by.
-
"The owners came round to put out the bin and were very helpful."
It had got cooler so they sorted out the heating for us. The ease of getting into Lincoln on the park and ride was a bonus, as it was free for concessions.
