"Thank you for a very comfortable stay in the cottage, which is in a great spot for local walks and - as it's located just off the A487 - for exploring the area more widely."
We loved starting each day with a relaxing walk on the beach a short drive away. The cottage itself feels very welcoming and it was great to unwind in the garden at the end of the day (although it's enclosed, other pet owners should be aware that it's not altogether secure). All in all, a very enjoyable stay.

"A lovely old cottage, furniture to match its age."
Kitchen modern, could do with a small freezer as the little freezer in the fridge is so small and had not been defrosted there was not enough room for items I needed to freeze. Bedrooms clean and comfortable beds, bathroom clean the power shower brilliant. The lounge is quite dark but with the lamps on in the evening was very cosy. I brought some wood from the local shop at a very reasonable price and used the wood burner as it did get cold on the evenings, that made it even more cosier. The tv is a smart tv so plenty of choice for watching. Wifi signal good. A few downsides, the hot tap in the kitchen is just a trickle so takes ages to fill the sink to wash up, i dont use a dishwasher as there is only 2 of us. A bit of information on how the heating works would be helpful. The kitchen was surface clean but could do with a deep clean, i had to wash all pans before i could use them and some of the oven trys were very dirty. I put that down to visitors not bothering to clean them after using them but the cleaners should check them. The cupboards are full of plates etc may be far to many but that is not a problem. There were cobwebs on the inside of the bathroom windows that the cleaners had missed, again that was not a big problem for me spiders have to live somewhere. The biggest problem we encountered was the parking. The man who owns the church opposite parks his big car and van outside on the road and makes getting on and off the parking area difficult. The local pub shuts Sunday late afternoon and doesn't open again until Wednesday, that was a bit disappointing as it would have been nice to pop out for a drink on the night. Borth beach easy to reach just 3 miles down the lane off the main road. Overall had a lovely stay in the cottage. Just a bit about the garden. It was a bit over grown but accessible once the gate is closed behind you it is perfectly safe for dogs, totally enclosed. Lovely cottage lovely village. The village shop is well stocked and not over priced, and the staff are very pleasant and helpful.

"Well situated between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth with easy access to the best bits of the area."
The community run village shop and cafe was very much better than I expected and consequently is a 'do-not-miss' place. If I visit again, I will certainly make use of the excellent bus service to Aber and Mach. Perhaps nowadays, May is too early to expect truly warm and/or dry weather but it was a good, peaceful break anyway.

"The house was lovely and met our needs."
We met the cleaners when we arrived and they were so helpful with recommendations of places to visit. The cottage was very clean and well presented. (I really loved recalling memories of Posy Simmonds contributions to graphic literature). The location was spot on for us. Walks from the house; with steeper climbs than we are now used to, living in Lincolnshire. (We once used to walk around Huddersfield and the Calder Valley with child carriers and pushchairs!) Loved visiting the Osprey centre, the Red Kite feeding and RSPB reserve. Had a train trip to Barmouth - would highly recommend. Aberystwyth is lovely. Bought some excellent honey, pies and pasties from the Saturday 'market'. We went Lindy Hop dancing with the local group on Tuesday evening and they were very welcoming and accommodating. The local village shop is well stocked and friendly. Driving around this part of Wales is lovely. The 20mph sections are really not an issue here (obviously, I can't comment on other areas) but they seem to be sensible and appropriate. The only down side was we felt guilty putting on the electric radiators and we really would have liked to use the multifuel stove, but it seemed like all the shops had given up on wood at this time of year. (It was unusually windy and relatively cold as everyone will be aware this year). It would have been useful to have a stock of wood to use (and pay for). Thanks though. We had a great time on our first visit to the Welsh West coast. Not our last

"Great cottage in a superb location."
Very clean, well equipped, friendly host, lovely safe garden for dogs, parking and smart TV were a bonus. Village had a great pub and good community shop. Beautiful Borth beach was a short drive (very dog friendly). Aberystwyth, Devil's Bridge, Silver Mountain, Aberdovy all close by. The biggest problem now is the 20 mph speed limits which are going to ruin Wales. Getting anywhere has become a huge ordeal; whatever Google maps says add 25% to your journey time. In addition budget for extra fuel costs as most cars don't operate efficiently at 20 mph in 3rd gear as well as producing higher emissions than normal running in 4th gear at 30 mph.

"Lovely little cottage and location great."
But please note the outside area if definitely NOT secure for a dog.The front door is to the road and the back door is left to the road or right a few yards to a gate to a garden that is not very secure. Definitely not safe for dogs or kids. Cottage itself lovely!.

"We wanted a cottage as a base for a walking holiday with our dogs."
Cysgod Y Coed was perfect with lots of great walks on the doorstep and just a short drive away. Fabulous beaches we also very near. There was a pub The Wildfowler, just a few doors down which did lovely food and you could eat in a gazebo outside with your dogs. There was also a great shop/cafe nearby .The cottage was clean, well equipped and comfortable although we would have liked a more comfortable armchair or two. The only stress we had was on the day we left ,we discovered there were no recycling bags so we had a bit of a panic and had to leave the recycling in black bags and hope they were taken! If anything, the listing didn’t do the cottage justice as it was much better than we thought it was going to be. Would recommend it for a comfortable holiday for couples or families(and dogs!)

"Had a fantastic time."
Lovely property. Had to text Tommy a couple of times he responded immediately. Recommend it.

"The location of the place is lovely, nice walks from the path opposite."
However, it was made difficult for us to park our car on the drive. We had to find the washing machine as it was not in the book where the location of the washing machine was, it's in the garage. The house is not suitable for children, there is too much stuff everywhere. The shower was lovely; however the stool had mould on the bottom. The garden was overgrown so we couldn't enjoy it. Overall I would not recommend this place and do not feel it is suitable for those with children.

"Well equipped and comfortable cottage."
The only issue we had was there being a cold snap and the woodburner was out of order.

"Ideally situated as a base for the coast or for walkers."
Fairly regular bus service very near to cottage. Very good cafe and shop in the village, 5 mins walk away. The Wildfowler pub is very popular and you need to book well in advance to get a table. On the whole we had a pleasant week there.
Many thanks for your kind review, Paul. Property Owner

"Cleanliness- overall quite good, any dishes used needed to be washed first, dried up food on most things, some mugs dirty."
Facilities - no micro wave, telivision outdated no modern features, sofa not very comfortable. Main problem, no instructions on working facilities, particularly heating. Shower very good, washing machine, tumble drier good.

"A cosy, cottage style end of terrace in a small village off the main road halfway between Aber and Mach in the Dyfi biosphere area."
The property was well presented with everything clean and tidy. There are two good-sized bedrooms, a shower room with electric power shower and a comfortable lounge/dining area downstairs. Lovely modern kitchen which inexplicably lacks a microwave (for reference, the switch for the hot water is on the wall directly opposite the side door and the 'external utility' is in the back of the garage). The neighbour has access across the back of the property to reach their garden. The garden was a pleasant place to sit but is not pet-secure. The village pub is very good and the village shop/cafe brilliant. Lovely area, he property is well positioned for RSPB Ynys-hir, the Dyfi Osprey project and Borth beach. Interesting walks into the woods and hills behind the village. Aberystwyth and Machynlleth are within easy reach. Additional observations not for publication. The property is, in our experience, unique in not providing any instructions on the use of the facilities. There was no mention of having to switch on the heater for hot water, no wood left for the wood burner, no explanation that the utility area was in the garage (we assumed it was as the door was left open) and the filter on the tumble dryer clearly had not been cleaned for some time. The TV could use updating particularly with regard to a simple catchup facility. Lighting upstairs is great but downstairs could be better as the room is quite dark.

"This accommodation is full of character and generally well equipped for a small family."
The stairs are open and there is no way of preventing small children/dogs from climbing the stairs but this was not an issue for us. I would have given full marks for facilities however there is no microwave in the kitchen which is a minor criticism and didn’t detract from the enjoyment of our stay.

"I adored my time at Cysgod Y Coed."
It took me a little while to find it, but I think the location was perfect for my little break in the countryside. The property was very clean and I loved all the little homey details, I felt settled right away. The only thing for me was the garden wasn't secure for the dogs, which I didnt realise, but watching them in the garden didnt take away from how much I loved the property. Very close to the beach and a lovely pub nearby. I'd love to return again!
Many thanks for your kind review, we’re so glad to hear you had such a lovely time. We also very much appreciate the feedback, we’ll definitely bear it in mind. Property Owner

"The cottage was perfect, home from home."
Very well equipped, modern yet well thought out decor and fittings that weren't at all out of place in an old cottage. Excellent shower and extremely comfortable beds. It's in a wonderful village, there's a lovely community shop and cafe and it was a very short walk to the pub too!
Thanks so much for your kind review! We’re so glad you had a great time back in Tre’r-ddol and would love to welcome you again in the future. Property Owner

"I booked the cottage to spend a week with my mother, visiting from abroad."
We both loved the cottage and had a wonderful week. + super comfy beds + fantastic facilities (everything one needs) + fab shower + log burner + garden (the herb garden is such a nice touch) + location (perfect for walks, near the sea) The cottage has such a lovely and homely feel to it, we didn't want to leave! I seriously cannot fault anything about our stay and would happily book again!
Thank you so much for the positive feedback, we’re so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you again in the future! Property Owner

"Convenient for sea padding and hill walking Convenient for shop and pub."
The cottage was perfect for our needs and and we would be happy to revisit it.

"We had a lovely, comfortable stay."
Lots of little touches and good mix of trad/modern style, e.g. great woodburner, modern kitchen, sweet herb garden, excellent shower, etc.! Situated perfectly to explore the superb coastline - Ynyslas was spectacular - scenic Snowdonia, castles and shops of Aberystwyth. Would highly recommend.

"Superb, comfortable holiday cottage in beautiful little village."
The only complaint was that the garden was completely overgrown which wasn't expected. It would have been lovely to be able to sit out in it and having taken two Westies with us, would have been great to let them run around in it. However, we didn't let it spoil a fantastic week but it was a shame it let the place down. Can easily be rectified with a little tlc. Would definately use the cottage again.
