  • "* Pretty comfy cabin."

Good heating and instant hot water. * Loved the hot tub. Very enjoyable after a day walking. * Generally well equipped, although an additional washup sponge and a non-stick saucepan would have been appreciated. - The one sharp knife was blunt. - As a dog friendly accommodation it would have been nice to have an enclosed garden and/or area. Also the bed frame really needs replacing. It was broken and repaired but still had a dip in the middle. We were only there for 4 nights and would not have enjoyed sleeping on it for any longer.

The Red Kite feeding station, just 10 minutes away was an amazing experience and would definately recommend a visit. The park was very peaceful and Snowy Owl Lodge [No 5] was in a private position. Probably a little TLC is needed regarding painting and rusty fittings [ in the bathroom] but it was very cosy and homely. On the first day we arrived we had a problem with the TV remote and WiFi but following a phone call we were impressed how quick they were resolved with new batteries and a booster.

Thanks for your feedback David. Will certainly look into the fittings in the bathroom. We hope to see you return in the future. Property Owner

Single beds comfortable but double bed a little less so- this was mentioned in a review before. Hot tub was fantastic, especially after a day of walking. Our family really enjoyed their stay, the dogs enjoyed it too. Great grass area for the dogs to have a run after their ball. WiFi patchy but didn’t affect us too much as we’re all tired after our days out. Bit noisy only once during our stay after 11pm on the Friday night, one night out of 7 wasn’t bad at all. It was just loud chatting and cars/ motorcycles- probably only noticed as we were leaving early the next day. Surrounding area just beautiful, glad we visited the red kite feeding station and the locals in Rhayader were so friendly and helpful. Lovely places to eat out and a few pubs! We would come back here.

Thanks for your wonderful feedback. We will look into the double bed mattress. We hope to see you in the near future. Property Owner

And the lodge we stayed in was good. The mattress was a little hard and led to a few uncomfortable sleeps. There was definitely a lack of amenities in the lodge. We had 2 toilet rolls for a weeks holiday, no hand soap in the bathroom. Separate towels for the hot tub would have been appreciated, we only had bath towels. Besides that we had a great stay!

Thanks for your feedback we really appreciate it. The cabin is self-catering but we will look into this. Thanks Property Owner

We had a lovely view and could see one of the famous Wye Valley dams in the distance and enjoyed watching the many red kites soaring above. We would definitely be happy to return in the future.

Accommodation was clean. We stayed in the exact same lodge as last year. Very disappointing to find out the mattress in the master bedroom has seen better days. This resulted in very little uncomfortable sleep for myself and my wife for the duration of our stay. This was reported on our first night but no action was taken. A bit of general maintenance is well overdue for example painting & jet washing. The lovely welcome pack that we received previously was no more. It was originally our plan to return on an annual basis unfortunately unless improvements are made this will not be the case.

Thanks for your feedback. We have since changed the mattress in the master bedroom since seeing your comment. In regards to maintenance outside, this has also been done. Unfortunately we were in the middle of losing one member of staff but this has been sorted now. We do hope to see you in the future again. Thanks Property Owner

Was told had rang electrician re hot tub and they were waiting for him to come. Unable to use tub Wednesday evening. When got up Thursday morning tub was at 62 degrees, The girls came round - no electrician available till Friday. The tub was to be slightly emptied and filled with cold water so we could use Thursday and a thermometer was being left so we could check temperature- we went out and left them doing this and when we came back too much hot water had been let out so tub was freezing, they came back round and said they could could top up with hot water from boiler so we could use but by this time we had had enough so we declined. Lots of flies but nothing the owners could do about it-- fly spray and bombs left in lodges. Shelving in bathroom/ shower would be a good idea for shower gel/ shampoo.

  • "The lodge was nice although a bit outdated."

The key collection is in a small area of reception with no one there to greet you. We didn't see anyone the whole time. The lodge doors lock very strangely and the door wedges when you are trying to get in. The cooker does not work. We tried loads of different combinations and could only get the grill to work. Couldn't cook dinner at all. There are no small glasses so we had to have pint ones. There is no floor towel for the bathroom or for the hot tub so we had to put some down. The shower door doesn't close properly so floods the floor. When you open the windows flies come in everywhere so maybe a fly catcher would be nice. There is no welcome basket or anything which for a luxury lodge is a disappointment The double bed had massive springs coming out of it. There is NO noise limit at all. We had a hen party screaming and shouting until 3am and we had kids. Not kid friendly for that reason. There wasn't anyone to tell or anyone around the inspect. All the furniture is old and out dated and broken. There was also glass, a bottle with cigarette butts and cups outside... They didn't check or clean the outside at all. There was also dog poo on the grass. Overall for £400 was completely no worth it and we were very disappointed. Also the hot tub wasn't full enough or cleaned properly.

  • "A week before we were due to check in I received an email to say that check in was now 5pm and check out was 9:30am due to Covid-19 and them needing to clean."

I replied to that email because I found that extremely unreasonable as you practically loose a day by only being able to check in at 5pm and indeed we did after getting stuck in traffic and only arriving at 19:45pm and I stressed this in my email and i don’t know about anyone else but the excuse of Covid for every single thing is starting to become quite annoying. Having said that we arrived with an open mind, it was 3 friends going for a quiet weekend. Upon arrival “reception” is a tiny cubicle with an envelope with your name on as everyone else who booked a lodge all with their envelopes and names on too. We entered the lodge and it’s nice, looks quite open from the outside but when your inside or in the hot tub you actually don’t see anything which is nice. Very quiet again nice and exactly what we wanted. No information on local amenities and your literally in the middle of nowhere so that would have been good. We used the cooker and couldn’t turn it off, no instructions, missing light and no signs on the cooker to know what was on,grill or oven so that wasn’t great. The fly’s are unreal, take fly spray because it’s like they appear from nowhere (fly spray should be provided) No home touches at all, no welcome pack, coffee, tea, even a touch of milk just to carry you through a few hours of your day. Hot tub is amazing however, your bringing water into the lodge which is a slip hazard no mop to wash it up? A list of everything you need to do before you leave: 1. Strip the beds 2. Clean and put away your dishes 3. Separate your rubbish and put it in big bins provided on the way out. 4. Open all windows before you leave. What exactly are you doing with the extra time you have to clean for Covid?? I myself had to rewash dishes that had been put away dirty by previous customers so you are checking for cleanliness? There was dust all over the wardrobe shelves that again we had to clean before placing our clothes on. There is a memo to say staff will come around to clean the hot tub so keep social distancing...there was not one staff member in sight and the hot tub never got cleaned and we know that because when planning to go in for second night there was leaves and all sorts floating. Although I enjoyed the peace and quiet and it was nice for what it was the little touches and actually seeing someone to communicate with would have made things a lot better and don’t use Covid as an excuse for your cleaning expectations when there is very little evidence you are living upto what you are saying you are doing.

Check in was from 4, however the reception isn't manned and when we arrived to collect our key it wasn't there. I rang the number, and they were just finishing filling the hot tub, i think there must have been problems with the boiler because it was nearly 30° outside and the heating had been on in the lodge for what felt like most of the day. I have stayed places that have been a lot better equipped, for example, there were wine glasses or pint glasses, no just ordinary tumblers. I think describing it as a premium lodge should include washing facilities. Overall, the area was beautiful and we had a lovely time, but I've definitely had better, more comfortable accommodation elsewhere.

It's clean and comfortable. Has all what's needed (shower, fridge, etc). The hot tub worked well for most of the days and when it didn't, we called and we were told that the girls would come to check in the morning. Ok was 10pm but we had been out all day with the children and we wanted to soak in a bit b4 going to bed.... We didn't because no one can come at that time. Another thing is it says on the rules that music and noise cannot be heard from the other lodges..... It was. Constant night drunk shouts, loud music and karaoke singing. At some point we had said drunk people walking through our lodge swearing and arguing and crying... We have 2 children! No one did nothing. Overall review is that the lodge is as described but we didn't expect the lodges to be so close together and so much noise throughout the night. We searched for peace and quiet and struggled to have it while there. Thank you Sandra and family from lodge 5
