  • "Overall we had a lovely time away however, the accommodation could have been better for a week’s stay."

Reason being, we had our dogs with us, there is no secure garden so we constantly had to be outside on the decking with them. The drive is very hard to get onto and there is loose decking when walking up to the bungalow. There was one rail to put clothes on and not enough space to store away our belongings. The beds are single beds (pushed together to make a double) which we would recommend a double bed as it is likely to have couples/family to stay where you’d presume a double bed is provided. The beds were not overly comfortable nor the sofa. There was a build up of flies/flying insects throughout the week however we did use the zapper provided which was helpful. The bungalow wasn’t overly clean on arrival and we had one toilet roll per toilet, 2 dishwasher tablets, nothing to clean with so we had to buy essentials which is fine, but a few household items would be a nice touch. The beautiful views were the highlight of the stay and very good location.

  • "It's a lovely bungalow!"

With beautiful views...the down side of this property is ...there is no garden, when you need to take you pets for a toilet you need to take your pets around the other side of the bungalow which at night time is very dangerous as the lights do not work so you need a touch, as it's on a very steep hill be prepared to balance yourself ... Windows blow with a breeze coming through! As for the heating there needs to be better instructions on how it works! Very dirty glass on the entrance light bulb in kitchen needs replacing ! Clock on wall does not work needs a battery... They just need an aerial for the lounge TV.... Not everybody watches Netflix real-time TV is nice to watch... But other than that... It was a nice stay Wales it self has captured my heart

  • "We had an amazing holiday, the views were stunning, freat beaches."

the property was well laid out beds were comfy, could maybe do with a better seating as only one sofa, the only negative would be the approach, we had to stop half way up the drive so couldn't get any grip so car would only go backwards, so car got damaged. For anyone going, just go as fast as you can up the drive past the entrance and reverse in. It didn't spoil are holiday at all, just an extra expense for the repair.

  • "A beautiful home!"

The views are outstanding! We loved the open plan layout, the couch was not as bad as previously described. With regards to parking, we found the best way was to drive up past the entrance and then reverse into the driveway, yes it could be designed a bit better but we coped! We did love the welcome packs! A really lovely touch, especially all the treats for our little dog! We would definitely recommend this place, sadly the weather was awful and we couldn’t have the bifold doors open or sit outside but you can’t pick your weather! We were just unfortunate! This is somewhere we would definitely come back to! Thank you

  • "Absolutely loved our stay here and are looking to book again next year."

Incredible views and we saw so much birdlife and other animals just from the decking. It was a joy just to get up every morning and get greeted with sound of nature and a view of the hills and see. Loads of nearby walks and places great for cycling too. The only thing I'd change would be a more comfortable couch apart from that it was perfection.

  • "Thank You for the basket of goodies and the doggy toy etc it was a lovely touch."

We’ve had a wonderful holiday here, the views are so beautiful. It really felt like a home from home. The beds were very comfy too and great showers. I wouldn’t say the garden was enclosed tho. And ….parking the car was a big downer!! A very steep drive up and a sharp turn into the driveway. If you’ve ever done Hardknott Pass in the lakes, it’s like that. My husband fortunately is a very good driver but it still made it very worrisome every time we went out and returned, especially in the wet, wheels skidded. Perhaps the driveway could be made wider into the property or maybe ask the farmer if possibly park on his land a bit further down, left of his gate??? Such a shame as the property was stunning and this will stop us coming again.

  • "The holiday home is situated in an incredible location on the side of a hill; there are very few places in this country where you can look out of one window and get sea views and look out of another and get views of rolling hills and mountains."

It was a very nicely laid out property in a great position for exploring. The drive is a little tricky to get onto, but that is expected given its location. Also due to its exposed position and French windows it does mean the temperature can fluctuate within the house depending on the outside conditions. Would highly recommend the property to family and friends.

We had a fantastic week staying there. Everything you needed was provided. The beds were comfortable. A lovely touch was the little basket with bread' cake ' and some milk in the fridge. (Only the Welsh cakes were a week out of date.). The only constructive criticism we have. Was the sofa was not comfortable. As it is a sofa bed. You were sat on part of the metal frame.

Cozy, well-equipped. Poor entrance to the property. With a large car you had to think hard. I also missed the grass in the yard. Overall, I recommend it! I'll be back!

  • "Absolutely lovely place to stay we really enjoyed it!"

It was very clean upon arrival, we vacuumed up and mopped the night before our departure. We did our best to ensure we left it how it was when we arrived Only thing i could say that was bad is we didn’t get a great nights sleep the night before our departure because the weather was really windy and stormy the garden furniture was blowing all over the place we had to collect items from fields through the night and tried our best to keep them secured and as time went so quickly in the morning we didn’t have enough time to empty the bins or empty the dishwasher or remove bedding as we had to be out by 10am. Maybe having a later departure time could be better for future occupants.

Thank you for your positive feedback; we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. The impact of Storm Gerrit has definitely presented challenges throughout the UK. We appreciate your comments in relation to a later check-out, but we do need to ensure sufficient time is given to allow for thorough deep cleaning between arrivals. Property Owner

  • "Despite calling upon entry to the property apparently that was not soon enough to notify Sykes Cottages that it was unclean and required cleaning."

I cleaned the cottage myself so that my 3 year old son didn’t have to play on a floor or sofa utterly covered in dust and dog hair. The property is unfinished and in places dangerous with the panels around the bath loose and with sharp edges. Despite numerous correspondence during and after our stay, Skyes/Menai is not prepared to offer any compensation for our stay. I would not recommend the company or the cottage we stayed in to anyone. Evidently, talking to the neighbours, the cottage owners are aware that the property is unfinished and are planning to finish it next year. Not ideal when you’ve paid to stay there now. Very poor service and very poor property.

We aim to provide the highest standard for your stay and would like to address the concerns you have raised. The housekeeper adjusted her schedule on the morning of your arrival to accommodate your last-minute request for an early check-in and they ensured the house was cleaned to a meticulous standard, including sweeping, hoovering and mopping the floor. You then complained that there was no welcome pack when it had already been communicated to you by the housekeeper that this would have to be delivered later due to the early check-in. It's also worth mentioning that this is a complimentary amenity provided at our expense, rather than an obligatory provision. The housekeeper dropped this into you later that day, and checked with you while there in person that everything was okay, to which you responded that everything was fine. You later called Sykes to complain about the cleaning, and they offered several times for the housekeeper to return to the property to address your concerns which you declined. You raised concerns in your review about the newly installed bathroom panel which had not been mentioned at all during your stay, we have had a workman check this over and confirm that there are no safety issues with this. We value and respect privacy so we do not engage in discussion of the property with neighbours, the property is fully finished to a high standard which has been fairly reflected in all our other customer reviews. We remain committed to providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience for our guests, taking on board fair and accurate customer feedback. Property Owner

  • "A very cosy cottage with beautiful views."

Thank you for the lovely welcome pack, the dogs enjoyed their treats as much as we did ours. The cottage is a great base to explore south Gwynedd and further afield. Tywyn has a lovely beach and the Talyllyn railway. A trip up the coast to Barmouth, Harlech, Criccieth and a trip to Porthmadog is highly recommended.

  • "Super property."

Very well appointed & in lovely position for scenery. Unfortunately we chose the wettest/windiest week so were unable to used the garden furniture & BBQ - which we had hoped to. Very comfy bed! and bathrooms clean & fresh. Kitchen well stocked with everything you need - including an Air Fryer! All very dog friendly inside with bowls & a "bed" in place on our arrival. & our pooch felt very much at home. Unfortunately there wasn't much of an area to walk the dog, due to farming land & a road without footpaths at the bottom of the hill. The parking could be difficult due to tight turn onto property as described in info. And area could be difficult with anyone with mobility issues. Thank you to the owners for the effort put in make our stay comfortable.

  • "We were lucky in that we had the hottest week of the year for our holiday."

However the lack of blinds on the truly magnificent bifold glass doors meant that we were sweltering at 35 degrees for 3 whole days. Frankly the only respite was taking to the road in our air conditioned car. That apart the poor quality of kitchen equipment was our only gripe. The bedrooms were comfortable and the 2 bathrooms provided excellent facilities. After 2 days of 35 degrees we were inundated with flies. only to be expected in a sheep farming area but means of control should be put in place such as an ultra violet fly killer. I would warn about the vehicle access, trying to turn into the narrow gateway off a 35 degree narrow road was an examination of my driving skills!
