  • "We had to clean the cottage on arrival due to all the cobwebs like something out of great expectations."

There was also a wasp nest above the bedroom window so could not have it open. We tried to make the most of it but unfortunately it was not to be, came home 2 days early as just not able to stay. Overall the worst holiday break we've had since the early 80's.

Complaints are considered as a sign of when things have gone wrong, but they can also offer us the opportunity to address any issues and be allowed to put thing right, unfortunately, you did not give us the opportunity to do so. As we live on site I personally asked if everything was satisfactory the following morning and you informed it was. The cottage is and has always been cleaned and prepared to the highest standard as proven by our 99.9% positive feedback over several years of hosting. I personally inspected the cottage prior to your arrival and confirmed it was in the usual high standard of cleanliness. Taking into account your two complaints, the cottage being an old but converted barn in farmland is prone to the occasional spider’s web which can appear only hours after cleaning. With regards the wasp’s nest in the apex of the roof we were powerless to rectify this as you only informed us on the morning of your departure. Again, this is an aspect of rural life and would have been sorted if you would have given us the opportunity to have done so. We apologise if this impacted on your stay to the extent you had to cut short your holiday. Property Owner

Our host Steve was welcoming and shared his knowledge of the local area and recommended places to visit. We spent most of our time exploring further afield in Snowdonia National Park, but more locally to Hen Yr Beudy, the walk across Barmouth estuary was beautiful as was the Tallylynn Steam Railway through the valley, passing Dolgoch Falls. We would happily return

The owners recommendation for dining locally was spot on. We had pre-booked the Peniarth Arms before our stay. The only criticism is that there was a layer of dust in the property on our arrival.

We always give the property the upmost attention to cleanliness for our guests. As a result this is reflected in the positive feedback of all guests to date, and we look at complaints or criticisms as an opportunity for improvement, I inspected the property prior to your arrival and found it to be of the highest level of cleanliness. We hope any dust didnt impact on your overall enjoyment and experience whilst staying at Yr Hen Beudy. Property Owner

My one problem, due to my arthritic knees, was getting up from the sofa which is quite low but a big plus for me was the grab rail in the shower. • "Exceptional!"

Spotlessly clean, very comfortable, cosy, warm, dry, homely in an outstanding location. The cottage is deceptively larger than the picture, layout is quirky which adds to the enjoyment. Steve and Lesley who own the cottage have us a warm welcome and our outstanding hosts but are not in your face, you know they are there but none of the windows overlook their home so you do feel secluded but not miles from anyone. It is off a beaten track but you’re not far from a Welsh main road, so not loads of traffic but makes exploring Snowdonia really easy. The cottage is in a very quiet and elevated position so views are wonderful, so if you are looking for peace and quiet this is perfect. The cottage is lovely and warm and evenings are relaxing comfortable and very homely. Facilities are excellent, kitchen has everything you need and high spec, en-suite has lovely big shower and lounge has Sky tv, videos, log burner and gorgeous thick stone walls so well insulated. Book a stay here and you will not be disappointed (I even had a birthday cake left which was a fantastic surprise).
