  • "The owner was very welcoming and helpful ."

He even cut the hedge to improve our sea view ! There were just three of us , all over 70 , and we each had a double bedroom . Pure luxury ! Dog had to sleep in lounge . Arrrh . Lovely enclosed garden . Easy walk to beach where benches on cliffside made for peaceful times watching the changing tides . Beautiful views across to Barmouth and Llyn Peninsula . Another visit is certainly on the cards .

  • "Nice property but lacked some general comfort and facilities for a 10 person property."

The pans were not large enough for size of the group (there were 8 of us). The wine glasses were a throw back to the 1970's, there were no large tumblers nor champagne flutes. The plastic glasses for outside had cracks in them. It would of been nice to have seat cushions on the conversatory chairs. We could not get part of the oven to work and there were no instruction manuals for any of the appliances. Disappointing that there was nothing in way of a welcome pack which is very surprising! These points did not spoil a great weekend but are the difference that would make the property excellent and would not cost a lot to rectify.

  • "Lovely spacious property all set out on a single level with good accessibility."

We spent a week a Tan Y Fedwen with extended family with ages ranging from 9 -79yrs. The property is well equipped with a full kitchen that allows you to cater for large parties like ours easily. The grounds are great giving the youngest in our party the space to run around, and play. The hot tub was a hit with us all although the oldest in our party did find accessing it a bit challenging. A pathway on the property leads you down to the local beach which is very rocky but nevertheless a lovely place to sit and take in some sea air. Within the local area things to do are limited but there's plenty if you venture just a little further away with Tywyn & Barmouth a short drive or train drive away. All in all we booked this holiday as a relaxing family break and this is exactly what we got - would definitely consider returning in the future.

The clothes airer was broken so was hard to dry the clothes inside as it rained everyday so couldn’t really dry it outside. Downfall of our stay was dogs had to be kept on the lead even on the garden which wasn’t clearly stated when we booked and wouldn’t have booked if we would have known this. Beach is only a few minutes walk away but isn’t dog or child friendly. Would recommend the house for maybe couples that like to walk but without dogs or children as there isn’t much to do in the area.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay on the whole, sorry there were a few bits that didn't please. I'll try and address them below: Sorry to hear about the clothes airer, I think a customer had left that behind as it wasn't ours on closer inspection. We try and encourage outside drying where possible for hygiene reasons, but we may include a clothes drier in future when the new kitchen is installed. Unfortunately it does state clearly in the listing that dogs are to be kept on leads due to this being a working farm. It's also impossible for you to adhere to the dog fouling rules if they are roaming freely in a large garden. Also your dogs may be safe with your children, but we can't take this risk with other peoples children or our children. Dogs on leads is a very common rule in rural areas, hopefully you understand. Dogs and children love the beach here and there's no restriction that they have to be on leads. Dogs and children can run freely. There's a mixture of pebbles, rock pools and sand, unless the tide is in which is normal for a North Wales beach. We predominantly host families here and don't usually have complaints about a lack of activities. Possibly a rural Snowdonia holiday just wasn't best suited to your family. We could have guided you to a number of activities at the reception had we known. Many thanks for the feedback either way! Property Owner

  • "We had a great week."

Just a few grumbles we found an old cooking tray caked in grease in the oven, from previous guests. Few coloured pencils under one of the beds. The washing airer was broken and beyond repair. We were not a fan of the woodfire hut tub, missed the convenience of the electric hot tub plus missed jets. Would have been in it everynight if it wasn't a pain to light and then wait 2hrs plus to heat up, we also run out of kindling. Only went in it twice. That said it is a beautiful location and a marvellous property. The hosts were friendly and helpful when we approached them. We had an escaped cow and sheep in our garden which was amusing.

Hi Emma, Sorry about that tray and the pencils, that's not good enough, I'll pass than onto the cleaners! Sorry you ran out of kindling, we would have delivered more if we knew you were out. It takes 2 hrs on the first day, then just small top ups every day, but totally understand if it wasn't for you. Hopefully we'll see you again in the future! Property Owner

  • "The cottage itself is lovely, spacious and well equipped (just short of a pizza slicer) with a great sized cooker and fridge/freezer and with an added bonus of a children’s games room/den and excellent wi-fi, there is an abundance of land around the property for children to run around and play, it is not fully enclosed but my dog is well behaved and doesn’t wonder off so that wasn’t a problem but did get a few campers walking through so not fully private, the outside space facing the sealine and mountains is beautiful and serene if it’s quiet, there is a hot tub which is good but please be aware it is a wood fired hot tub which was difficult to light and had to ask for assistance to get it started and for myself personally is abit of a faf keeping the fire burning to heat it also there is a tent pitching field directly over the bushes so on summer days you are likely to get campers so you do not feel secluded and away from people or noise which spoiled the experience for me, the beach is 2 minutes walk but it is a very rocky beach with a small gradient to it so ultimately not ideal for pushchairs and wheelchair users, 2 small shops one on Hendre hall and one down the road for basics, ultimately you can drive to the next little town of Tywyn 15-20 minutes away."

The cottage is a great base for exploring the surrounding areas and the owner was lovely and accommodating.

10 bath towels and 2 hand towels are not sufficient for 10 guests, 3 bathrooms and a kitchen. A few more kitchen products like scales, cake tins, mixing bowls would be good if anyone wanted to cook cakes etc. there was a dustpan and brush, Henry vacuum, but no broom, mop or bucket. • "We have just returned home after a week at Tan y Fedwen."

What a fantastic place! The pictures don't do it justice, the house was lovely and spacious and the garden is huge. At one point, there were 9 of us, (ranging in age from 7 to 82) and it still felt like we had plenty of space. The kitchen was well equipped and we didn't really want for anything. The shower in the main bathroom was great too. The beds were very comfortable and the whole house was very clean. We all loved the hot tub, particularly on the cooler days, though we were extremely lucky with the weather. The proximity to the beach was a real plus, with the added bonus of seeing the pygmy goats on the way down! The beach is quite rocky, so bring beach shoes, but for a couple of hours around low tide, there is lots of sand and it's then much easier to paddle and swim. There are lots of rock pools, great for the little ones to explore, and while they're doing that, there are fantastic mountain views to enjoy. The sunsets from the terrace of the house are some of the most spectacular we have ever seen. There is a nice circular walk up the hill behind the house, but very steep so take water if you are planning to do this. The owner was friendly and approachable, always responding quickly to any queries we had. The shop in the village is fine for basics, although we did go around midday one day and they had run out of bread so probably best to get there early, otherwise there is a decent size Co-op in Tywyn. The pub in the village serves very good food but we were waiting a long time to be served (an hour and ten minutes before we got food), not sure if this is standard or they were having a bad night! We don't often return to the same holiday rental, but I have a feeling we will be back to Tan y Fedwen. An excellent stay, thank you!

  • "Unfortunately the listing wasn't really accurate for this property - we specifically wanted a property that was pet friendly and we had no time limit in using the hot tub as some listings specify that we cannot use it after 22:00."

We got help over the phone by Rebecca and she gave us 3 options to choose from. From the listing the property seemed perfect, large enclosed garden for the dogs outdoor hot tub for the adults so we decided and booked it on spot. Once we rang the owner for the keys new rules and info appeared. The owner actually lives next door and right in front of the property he has pods as well that he rents that meant for us - "absolutely no noise after 22:00" and also it was mentioned the fact that he will keep an eye on us whilst we stay there. We were also advised that all dogs should be on the lead whilst outside the house - so all that nice "enclosed" area (is not actually enclosed as there is no gate and no fence) was not accessible for our pets although the owner has a small dog that actually walks around freely - that didn't seemed fair. The owner actually advised that the beach is at walking distance and our dogs can walk freely over there - indeed it was at walking distance but the whole area is covered in rocks - not the best environment for a dog to run and play. Other than that they were friendly and helpful we just all wish that we had the info before actually booking and paying for the property
