  • "DO NOT STAY HERE."

Holiday from hell. Firstly, upon arrival the place was disgusting. Beyond disgusting. No cleaners had been sent after previous guests. The bed was ridden with dog urine, messed up and stinking, the bathroom was decorated with used, wet, smelly towels covered in dog hairs. The toilet was unflushed and dirty. The sofa was soaking wet with dog hair and smelt like urine and cigarettes. Unswept floors, crumbs on the sides, just revolting. I immediately contacted the owner, she said she’d send out a cleaner. They made us vacate the property with our baby and child and dog, in a hurricane with torrential rain and severe winds with no on site establishment allowing dogs inside, the cleaners said it would take ‘ a really long time ‘ at 7pm we were able to return, cold, soaking wet and miserable, to find the place was still a mess. The smell was horrific, the children’s bed was damp, untouched by cleaners, false nails in the covers and under the pillows, dog hair all over the place. No toilet roll, no clean towels, no sofa to sit on as it was still soaking and smelly, At this point we requested a full refund so we could go elsewhere but we’re ignored until refused. Having used all our savings to book this place we were stuck. So we cuddled into the one bed, lay on our own towels and slept together in there. The next day I spent 4 hours deep cleaning the property as we were still be ignored and not refunded. The owner would tel us to contact Sykes and Sykes would say it’s the owner who has to sort it. Hours of phone calls, back and forth, we realised we were loosing the battle and tried to just make the most of it while we can. We still had to answer phone calls recal details and so forth. Found the cleaners stole our bag with our babies bottle inside, food, drinks, baby milk and more, who refused to acknowledge this, lied to the owner and refused to refund that also. We decided to request the first night to be refunded instead of the whole stay. That was also refused and declined. On top of all this, there’s no oven. No cheese grater, no loo roll, no towels, no clean bedding, no cleaning tools, no basics I.e tea or coffee, no welcome booklet to tel you to book in at reception through the third management of the chalet meaning we were refused access to the pool and the food establishments The doors are faulty, the bathroom door locks itself due to a fault catch and left our 8 year old daughter locked inside screaming while had to try and break it open, the shower doors don’t close properly, toilet doesn’t flush properly, the door separating the living area to the bedrooms doesn’t close unless slammed multiple times, the main doors leave a gap with cold air at the bottom. I could go on. We leave today and our children have rashes, one caught ring worm, we’ve been bitten by fleas and to anyone wondering we would have just gone home and given up but we couldn’t afford extra train tickets This was hell. And still we had no refund, no apologies, nothing. I will NEVER stay here again. Please DONT BOOK

Bed is a bit difficult for older people but probably fine for younger people and small children.unfortununatley building work being carried out in front of the chalet which you could do without but this is not the owners fault.

Thank you for your feedback, not easy trying to please all guests, thank you for your understanding about the work which was going on infront of the chalets. We can confirm that the works are completely finished and there will be no further disruptions to anyone's stay. Kind regards Property Owner

As for the owners of the site the view from our chalet was not what we expected, caged fencing and piles of earth and dump truck was not pleasing to the eyes. When we went to the bay half the amenities were not open or were not able to supply what we wanted. We will not be going back there again! So disappointing!!

Sorry to hear you was disappointed with facilities, they are all open, but at different times of the day, clarach were putting new caravans in front of the chalet, that's why there was metal fencing. Thank you for your feedback, we are very sorry for building work during your stay. We can confirm that the works are completely finished and there will be no further disruptions to anyone's stay. • "No hot water due to low pressure."

Awaiting part refund as this ruined our holiday and we vacated earlier because of it. Attempted to shower between 9-11am and 5-7pm without any joy. Plumber came out and informed us low pressure meant no hot water. Only place for the frying pans is the bin. Had to wash cups and plates before we used them. Kitchen not fully equipped for 4 people. Even tho this is a dog friendly chalet and we were travelling without a dog the blanket on the sofa was covered in dog hairs. Chalet windows filthy and when opening doors and windows the trims were also filthy. Carpets in bedrooms also ready for the bin. No view of the bay as described just a concrete block. Car park and other chalets. Towels and bedding supplied were over washed / dated. Who would want to stay in a bed with animal print unless you're on safari?!! Overall a very disappointing ruined family holiday. We all couldn't wait to come home. I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here. Sykes need to take it off. Do not book here!

Due to clarach been so busy, water pressure does drop, all info tells you in the guest book, cleaning is checked regularly, do like standards for guests to be right, has soon has l heard this complaint, my cleaning manager checked the chalet ASAP Property Owner

  • "A lovely break to see family in a lovely location."

Chalet was very clean and the heating had been put on before we arrived which was so warm and welcoming. The chalet soon warmed up in chilly spring weather. The site staff were helpful and we had some lovely beach walks and barbeques. The second room is small for two but the living room/kitchen provide plenty of living space.

Chalet was clean to standard minus the utensils plates had chips and cracks and none of the cutlery was clean so we spent more money buying plastic utensils for the week which was money we didn't have as I refused to start cleaning after a 6 hour drive. Toilet seat is broken as keeps moving about. The shower had hardly any power to it and it kept tripping whilst trying to shower. The size of the chalet is not suitable for a family of 4 too small and nowhere to put clothes apart from left in cases which were left in livingroom. Think the electrics need checked due too the amount of times the lights where flickering on and off at night and during the day you couldn't have the kettle and toaster on at same time as electrics kept tripping. Apart from that we had a great time. Spent most of the time out and about.

The small bedroom is extremely small, the only room , in the bedroom is what you see in the photo, so its more ideal for younger children, my son is 5 7" tall and very active yet struggled to get onto the top bunkbed ,the bathroom was very nice in size and the double bedroom although small was comfortable, the sitting room/kitchen had everything and was also a nice size and comfortable this is a very nice and comfortable lodge as well as clean so I would recommend it but probably better for couples or younger families, the beds were also very comfortable and clean, the area around it is very nice and it was easy to find, we did enjoy our stay here and was very happy with it all, with the exception of the teenagers, who for them felt it was cramped, for myself and my husband we would happily come back here again and we did all enjoy our stay, I also liked that it was dog friendly and still very clean and nice, even our little dog loved his stay here to, I would recommend this place for a nice and relaxing break

  • "The chalet was in excellent condition, light with contemporary decor as in photos."

, plenty of utensils/crockery and a drawer of useful items for emergencies. The down side was the Master bedroom, the bed not accessible from both sides neither the bottom. This proved difficult for octogenarians - we managed with some difficulty! The small bedroom gangway was so narrow that it had to be negotiated sideways - typical caravan style! The chalet was not as long as the photo suggested. For those reasons given we would not re-book this chalet or one like it. The weather was very good for Wales.

  • "We were really disappointed."

The other Sykes Cottages have been really good. This was terrible and we really ought to be perusing a refund. In fact we came home 2 days early as we could not stand it any longer. Was really cramped (both bedrooms - no wardrobe in the larger bedroom and only just enough room to stand in both bedrooms). Cleaning was to a very poor standard. Overall, we would never recommend this property to anyone else and would welcome your comments.

  • "We enjoyed our break at Clarach, mainly because we were in dire need of a rest."

The chalet was okay for a couple of days, but a week with two teenagers and rainy weather made it seem very small and cramped. Amazingly, although the caravan site is right next to the beach, it is huge and the walk to the beach took ten minutes. The chalet itself although obviously recently updated and clean, and also well placed for exploring mid Wales, was furnished with a flimsy dining set and coffee table that we were very wary of breaking. Unfortunately the bedrooms felt cramped too. That said, it was fully equipped and if the sun was shining... I don’t think we would book this chalet again even though you can see the effort the owner has put in to the chalet, it was adequate, yet we felt uncomfortable while sitting inside.
