  • "I wish I could give more stars for this amazing property but the app only allows 5."

Shame. Anyway, to the review: Prior to arrival, I had a lovely message asking what time I expected to arrive for key handover. Lovely gesture, makes this feel less transactional and way more welcoming. Was asked to message 10 minutes before I arrived, which I duly did from a farm up the road that has a milk machine and donkeys!! More on that on a different review. Arrived at a very well directed and signposted lodge and what a view. David was waiting, and was very patient. David showed us around the lodge, and the surrounding land. Everything was well pointed out both inside and out, and full instructions provided for all things that needed them. Nothing was a problem, and both David and Sonia were on hand if anything was needed, which again is a lovely touch. David even showed us around the other lodge as it was unoccupied, and it's just as beautiful. The lodge itself was gorgeous, so well designed and laid out. Very well decorated. Everything you could possibly want is provided, including a lovely welcome basket. Very considerate. The view from the large bifold doors is outstanding, even on a rainy day! The last day looked like something out of silent hill! Privacy from the hot tub was excellent and the tub itself was immaculate. Probably the cleanest one I've seen. The rooms in the lodge are all excellent, perfectly sized with good storage. Massive bathtub in the main bathroom and large shower in the ensuite. The sofa and indeed all the chairs were very comfy. Excellent kitchen facilities and a huge fridge and freezer. Outside, plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view. Hot tub had speakers built in too! Extra luxury, but to be honest the sounds of the working farm were much nicer to listen to. On that subject, I took a little walk and met some of the young calves. How nice it was to give them chin scratches! I honestly cannot thank David and Sonia enough, what a place to stay. Even had the sweetest message after leaving! Would love to return, this place is an absolute gem, as are its hosts.

The location has the most amazing views and is so peaceful whether that's sitting on the patio with a drink or enjoying the amazing hot tub. The lodge is spotlessly clean and so many extra details that sets it apart from other holiday lodges. David and Sonia are great hosts and nothing is too much trouble. We can't wait to visit again (for the third time!)

  • "Wow! This place is absolute paradise!"

David & Sonia are the perfect hosts and you really get the feeling that they have put so much thought, not only into the lodge but also into the surrounding grounds. It's like a little piece of Welsh heaven. The Lodge is extremely private with beautiful views of the countryside set through the large fronted windows and veranda. We stayed as a family of four for a week and we found the area secluded enough to enjoy the peace and quiet but not more than an hours drive away from some fantastic family days out. Welshpool is just a short drive down the road for shops and restaurants and there are also plenty of local shops just five minutes away for any necessities. If you are looking for something in this area, then look no further. Absolutely perfect! We will definitely be going back as this place is difficult to beat.

The view from the folding doors was breathtaking, the icing on the cake was the hot tub to one side of the lodge which made it very private we relaxed in it till 11pm watching the darkness descend on us due to there being no street lighting or any traffic it was simply bliss.Met Sonia just before departing, they are both very passionate about the lodges and what you to have the best experience possible.Enjoyed my chats with Dave he told me all about the farm and its history. The lodge was spotlessly clean decorated to a very high standard , it exceeded our expectations, perfect location to unwind and enjoy the countryside whilst still having plenty of amenities close by Pubs supermarkets etc can recommend the Tumble Inn for the best Sunday lunch. We can not wait to return in the near future.

  • "We enjoyed our stay very much and would not hesitate to return."

The property was as described and supported by previous reviews, spotlessly clean and furnished to a very high standard. The patio area at the front was an ideal place for relaxing and taking in the wonderful scenery. The hot tub with built in Bluetooth speaker was private and a very welcome addition after a long walk and for stargazing at night. Unfortunately bath robes are no longer provided due to previous guests taking them which is understandable, we took our own. All in all it was everything you could want from a luxury property and my only minor gripe would be the lack of some pasta bowls, and a wider, larger range of pans for cooking.

It is a lovely property with stunning views. Super modern and very tastefully decorated. Really comfortable accommodation. Nothing was too much trouble if anything was needed from the owners. The attention to detail and level of service provided by the owners was really appreciated. It was blistering hot weather too. They tried their very best to make our stay perfect. The cows and sheep in fields around the property made it extra special. I love animals. When leaving the sheep gathered, looking at us and bleeted goodbye by the exit :). We loved it. This is by far the best Sykes property we have stayed in and we have stayed in some other lovely properties. The owners make it extra special with this stay. That level of attention to detail and friendly service is rare. But they were not at all interfering at the same time. We had privacy to enjoy the property but care with the way the property was presented and looked after. Them living next door provides assurance in the event of anything going wrong, but it did not. Both the owners are so friendly and they really do care about their business. I received a friendly welcome text the night before our stay introducing themselves and saying they were looking forward to us staying at their accommodation. I have never had that before. One property owner before actually wondered why I was calling before the stay when it said I was to call them on the sykes details before. The accommodation was spotless. They were even cleaning the windows as we pulled up, in the hot weather. Luxury piled carpets in the bedrooms that feet sank into. An outstanding stay. Thank you. Just what we needed!

About the location

MEIFOD, POWYS

Llanfair Caereinion 6 miles; Llanfyllin 6 miles; Welshpool 7 miles; Lake Vrnwy 11 miles; Shrewsbury 27 miles

Meifod is a sunny little, stone-built village by the River Vyrnwy with a local pub and convenience store with a post office, enveloped by rolling hills and woodland, with attractive houses. Situated about 7 miles north-west of Welshpool, this pretty village also offers tennis courts (day tickets can be purchased cheaply from the village shop), its own ruby and football teams and a historic church where there is said to be the royal tombs of 2 former princes of Powys. Fishing permits for the River Vyrnwy and Banwy can also be purchased from the village shop. Lake Vyrnwy with its RSPB reserve and Pistyll Rhaeader (Llanrhader waterfall) a 240ft waterfall in 3 stages, which is counted as one of the Seven Wonders of Wales, are only a short drive away. Both are sites of scientific interest. Gwyndu Cottage is about an hours drive away from 5 of the best places to ride mountain bikes in North Wales. Nearby, Llanfair Caereinion is in the heart of old Montgomeryshire's Banwy valley and is one of the smallest towns in Powys. Just a short walk over the Banwy Bridge from the hilly streets of the town centre, is the steam Welshpool to Llanfair Light Railway.
