Advised owner said he did not know about this? Would rectify. Bin in bathroom had not been emptied had sanitry items in. Lodge is lovely and so is the position overlooking river. Needs a little TLC but overall good. We had problem with hot tub as water smelt awful. Owner sorted very quickly next day, very good. Just being honest. We would definitely go again. With four of us though sitting in the evening together, was little uncomfortable on the 2 chairs as only one sofa, maybe get another sofa put in? or L shaped sofa?? just an idea.

In the folder the gas certificates was 3yrs out of date, pat.testing was out of date, and the fuse board had no information on it about the the last time it was tested. ! The property ticked all the boxes (and I mean ALL the boxes). The location was great, right at the side of the river. The property was clean and comfortable and little touches such as the bottle of Prosecco waiting for us, the fresh flowers in the window, the logs for the log burner, the blankets for sitting out on an evening etc etc made our stay really special. The hot tub was also a great great addition and we enjoyed relaxing in after our days out exploring the local area. I can't thank the Property Owner enough...our stay was !

Every comfort and need had been thoughtfully catered for. Even a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and fairy lights on the decking made us feel cosy and Christmassy. The contacts answering our queries were very patient, courteous and knowledgeable. We did struggle without internet access, as everything is online nowadays. The draw full of brochures gave some information, but we could've investigated the area more had we had access to maps to find local eateries, petrol stations etc. Overall a thoroughly amazing break. A real Christmas treat. Worth every penny. Thank you.

Owner informed me in advance of an issue with the TV - no problem as I just bought my fire TV stick which worked a treat. The lodge has everything you need, and is an excellent base to go exploring. The bed and sofa are comfortable, the hot tub was a lovely treat. Watching the ducks swim past, the moorhen and her babies, as well as an array of other birds, was fantastic. Already want to come back!

The one thing that let it down was that the TV was working there was a not left for us apologising. I feel this should have been rectified we paid for a lodge to have the facilities fully working including the TV for the durt of our stay it wasn't. If I knew guests were coming I wouldn't expect them to find something not to be working. We were there for my birthday and been wanting to go for quite a while then COVID stepped in and we had to cancel. The TV which wasn't working was an old analogue virtually obsolete now. As a gesture of good will feel we should have compensation as we paid in good faith, for it all to be working, you don't expect to go there and find the TV not to be working and all you get is an apology I didn't want an apology I wanted a working TV to keep your guests happy it should have been rectified

Firstly, we apologise, as we did at the time, that there was as issue - not with the TV, but as explained, problems with the Satellite Signal, caused by damage to the cables. The TV itself was functioning perfectly and played DVD's OK, as confirmed in a subsequent message from yourselves. The TV is neither old or analogue - we accept that it is not 'state of the art', but this would have made no difference given that the issue was with the satellite signal itself. The problem was reported to the Site Warden, by previous guests, but unfortunately they were unable to fix the issue. The satellite problem was only found out about by ourselves on the Saturday (13th May) of your arrival - for a 3 night stay - we were unable to get anyone to repair or fix the problem until the early part of the following week - by which time your stay had ended. A new satellite dish has been installed, located on the actual lodge itself, and our current guests have confirmed that all is working perfectly ok. An offer of compensation has been made. A hugely relaxing and peaceful week by the river with only the sounds of the water and wildlife for company. Outdoor decking overlooking the beautiful scenery is enough to keep you busy, especially in the hot tub! The lodge is furnished well and is very clean, well appointed and cosy. It is impressive just how many things have been thought of to make the stay as comfortable as possible (the only possible addition to improve could be a fan for the warmer weather). The local area is quiet and not packed with things to do but the peaceful way of life and superb scenery more than make up for it. We look forward to returning in the future!

It proved a very peaceful, and delightful location beside the river, and a great base for exploring Shropshire and nearby Mid-Wales in early September. We enjoyed walks on the local hillsides as well as on the Long Mynd, visiting Powis Castle, Ludlow, and the Red Kite feeding centre at Gigrin Farm, Rhayader, and dining at welcoming local pubs in the evening. The hot tub at the lodge was a big hit after a day's exploring. Some previous guests have reported seeing otters from the lodge. We didn't manage that, but we did see a kingfisher flying up and down the river on several days during our stay. Magical.

About the location

CLUN

Bishop's Castle 6 miles; Ludlow 18 miles.

A.E. Houseman's poem, A Shropshire Lad, defined Clun as 'the quietest place under the sun', and with its dramatic ruin of a Norman castle, Saxon church, the bustling river which flows under the 14th century pack horse bridge, and a country inn, Clun is a rural gem situated in the South Shropshire Hills. It lies on the Shropshire Way in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the border of Wales, an area known as The Marches. This unspoilt part of Britain has an abundance of wildlife and beautiful unhindered walking and cycling routes winding their way through the countryside with the Clun and Kerry Forests, Offa's Dyke, and Kerry Ridgeway all close by. There are a wide range of festivals and shows on offer in the surrounding area throughout the year, including The Green Man festival in May. From Clun, you can also enjoy exploring the historic towns of Bishop's Castle, Presteigne, Ludlow, Shrewsbury, and Hereford, a must for visitors.
