  • "I recently had the pleasure of spending a holiday at a charming Y Cartws cottage with my family and it was an experience I won't soon forget!"

Nestled in a picturesque location surrounded by lush greenery and tranquil nature. The cottage provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cottage itself was beautifully decorated, combining rustic charm with modern amenities. The cozy living area featured a lovely fireplace, making it the perfect spot to spend time with my family. The kitchen was fully equipped, allowing us to prepare our own meals with ease. Early morning, we were greeted by the soothing sounds of nature. Overall, our holiday stay at this cottage was everything we hoped for and more. The combination of comfort, beauty and welcoming hospitality made it a truly memorable getaway. I highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in nature!

  • "Yes, we are happy to share the feedback."

Y Cartws is in a wonderful rural location and was very clean. It has plenty of space for 6 people to stay in, although we were only 3. We enjoyed the kitchen facilities and the stunning surrounding views, and remote location.

  • "A lot of health and safety issues and environmental issues e."

    G. piles of rubbish including old radiators , old fireplace, plasterboard and plaster , and lots of bags of rubbish with a dank and musty smell outside house blocking footway from car park to cottages . there was a mouse in the rubbish on one occasion. car park unlit in dark as was footway from car park to cottages causing safety issue especially with so much rubbish on footway. there is disused swimming pool with foul water in it and not securely fenced off causing health and safety issues. The playground facilities were in a bad state of repair with visible signs of rot. the indoors games facilities in a state of neglect and the whole area had very uneven ground. . there was cabling coming from our sitting room going across pathway causing trip hazard .the bath in cottage showed distinct signs of enamel coming away and i would not have liked to sit in it and risk getting my bottom scratched It really was a very depressing place to stay everything in cottage was very dated and tired . we had come up for a family party on Saturday and couldn't wait to leave early the following day .workmen came and worked in cottage whilst we were staying . we are taking the health and safety and environmental risks further as in all the thirty years we have been with Sykes we have never seen anything like it. we have taken lots of photos to prove our case.

Thank you for your feedback. You did contact us during your stay to report an issue with the oven. We went straight to the property to assist and unfortunately your dog had been left unattended in the property. The comments you have made are very out of character for the property. We have been holiday letting for many years and always receive positive comments and scores from customers. We have had some work done in our own property, not the holiday cottage. The waste from this is being moved in stages but doesn’t interfere with the holiday properties or access, nor does this present a health and safety risk to ourselves or holiday makers. The play area and pool are not features of the property and are securely out of bounds for customers The property is in countryside and occasionally there are field mice in the area which is typical of rural Wales. We will look at the comments you made regarding the interior of the property on changeover when we complete a full inspection of the cottage before the next customers arrive. Once again, thank you for your comments Property Owner

  • "Very friendly owner, she explained that she had recently purchased all of the cottages and was in the process of refurbishing them all."

All the cottages have been painted and had new sofas, beds and bedding and she said all the kitchens and bathrooms would all be replaced eventually. There are also plans to revamp all the outside play areas and games room. We had a very enjoyable, comfortable stay and hope to visit again in the future and we would like to wish them all the best in their new venture

Thank you very much Karen for your review and hope to welcome you back again here @ Cwmiar in the future Property Owner

  • "We loved our stay at Y Cartws."

The cottages have all been converted from farm outbuildings and Y Cartws was the feed storage and cart house. The conversions are to a high standard with some beautiful woodwork and old beams. The scenery is lovely with the hills ascending just behind you. Great walks from your front door. The beds are brand new and so comfortable with lovely clean white bed linen. It was pretty cold when we were there but the heating was really good ... and we could control it ourselves. The log burner is an added bonus. There are stair gates on both the bottom and top of the stairs which is handy for kids and dogs. WiFi worked great. Washing machine AND tumble drier, very important in Wales. Eirlys, the owner, took over the farm in May 2023 & she is giving the cottages a real makeover. She is lovely and friendly. Her daughter Gwen is very sweet and she played with my 9 year old son and took him to see all the animals which he loved. I would definitely recommend staying here. Rachel, Judy & Patrick (Midlands)
