"The property is lovely and we enjoyed our stay."
The area is very nice and we were surprised with the filming days but it was lovely watching the filming being done.

"Hafod-y-Gors has to be one of the nicest places we've stayed."
We felt at home from the moment we stepped through the door (and after a drive that was at times a bit stressful, that was a huge help to us.) It is comfortable, warm, smart, clean and welcoming and if we could have smuggled the bathroom home in the car there's a good chance we would have done. The eggs and milk that were left for us was a lovely touch, too. The dog settled in right away, and to us that's the sign that somewhere feels like home. So, thanks for the opportunity to stay. All being well, this time was the only the first time.
Thank you for your kind comments, and good to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We are always wanting to improve the cottage for our guests and we will be upgrading the back garden seating area this winter. We look forward to you staying at Hafod-y-Gors in the future. Best wishes, Mark and Theresa. Property Owner

"Outstanding views from the property."
Very comfortable and spotless. Ideally placed in the village for facilities and road and rail links.
-
"A very comfortable and clean bungalow."
Lovely garden space to relax in with a great view. All your essentials are provided and in good working order. Thankyou.
-
"Lovely clean house with a great view and good access to beach and village."
New suite was an improvement. Had a great stay. Only suggestion would be a new mattress in the bedroom on the left as the existing one is poor.
-
"Lovely place lovely people can’t wait to go back"
-
"Lovely time experienced in comfortable accommodation that suited our needs down to a tee."
Stunning views from the back conservatory with most of our spare time in there. Did not watch TV once as the view looking out of the conservatory was more entertaining. The car was parked up the whole trip and when not walking used the train to go up and down the coast. Will certainly return as I love Fairbourne with its peace and tranquility unlike Barmouth.

"The property was absolutely spotlessly clean and very well presented."
The bungalow is very comfortable and well equipped. The views from the bedrooms and the rear conservatory are just stunning no matter what time of the day. Only a short walk to the village shops and pub. Seafront and beach also only a short walk so ideally located.

"Brilliant location Bungalow was bright and airy Well stocked with essentials Comfortable and clean"
-
"Cleanliness and comfort were faultless."
Kitchen well equipped. Bathroom very new and shower was lush. Views from the rear of the bungalow were fabulous. Handy for lots of walks, close to the beach and near enough to roads to make any car journey easy. One suggestion. Im not good with log ons and passwords. Might be useful to mention bringing passwords for netflix etc to future visitors. Apart from that - perfect

"A lovely cosy bungalow which was spotless and so peaceful."
A great base with a short walk to the beach, shops and pub. Had everything we needed for a short stay. The beds were comfortable and the shower red hot. The kitchen was well equipped with milk and eggs on arrival which was a nice touch. We loved it and have booked again for August :) Suggestions: Small chest freezer in the front porch. The little freezer compartment has limited space which could be a problem for longer stays. Addition of an air fryer or slow cooker would be welcomed as the oven took an age to heat up and must cost a fortune to do basic meal.

"Very nice stay but dishwasher wasn't plumbed in."
As I've arthritis, a dishwasher is important to me. Also lack of a decent fridge freezer. Kitchen really needs a bit of redesign. Also chairs not particularly comfy... gave me. So maybe a rethink on chairs. More comfy in back conservatory. All in all nevertheless I enjoyed my stay and would return

"One of the best views ever!"
The bungalow was really clean and the milk and eggs were a perfect touch. (I do think your sofa legs might need looking at though, not sure if they're just wonky or on their way out) It was really nice to have access to the cleaning products so we could keep clean and tidy. Was cosy, comfy beds, comfy sofa and chairs. It has a really welcoming feel...just loved it and we'll definitely return.

"Very good value for money property Outstanding view of Barmouth from back of bungalow"

"Exceptionally clean, fully equipped, set in a quiet road only 10 minutes walk to the beach, friendly neibours, would recommend Hafod Y Gors."
Sykes cottages booking system very straight forward, no problems at all,

"Very nice property, comfortable and restful."
There are a few things that need attention, but the owner is aware of these, they are only minor things. We do hope to return in the new year, we will see how things go at home.
-
"Lovely little house by the sea."
Every thing you need in this little cosy house. Enclosed back garden overlooking the mountains was amazing witha morning brew. Eggs and milk on arrival was a nice touch, after a drive you don't have to worry about milk for a nice cup of tea. Will be looking at my calendar to book my next stay.

"What an absolute little gem of a property."
We took a last minute break so we got this property for a steal, so I didn’t have high expectations, but I wasn’t really expecting such a well appointed home. When I read the other reviews they said this place has everything you need, they really weren’t lying. There’s coffee and tea and condiments and all the crockery and cutlery and utensils you could ever need (a knife sharpener would be a bonus) so no need to bring anything. There was even foil and cling film and Tupperware to use. They supply you with loo rolls and kitchen towels and tea towels and bath towels, everything you could ever need. There’s blankets to snuggle up on the sofa with and even board games for those rainy nights. I bought an os map with me and decided to leave it there for the next occupiers to use. The place suited mum and I as it had two adult bedrooms (rather than a double and a bunk room) and we were both very comfortable. I read some comments about the bathroom being a little dated, so I was pleasantly surprised to find a brand new refurbished suite! I don’t know how the owners managed to fit everything they did in that small room without it feeling cramped, but they did! The only thing that would have been handy is some hooks on the doors and maybe a suction hook for the shower screen for the hanging of towels. Also, could the owners put a squeegee in the bathroom to use after your shower. We like to use one after every shower to avoid water staining and makes it easier to clean on the last day (we hope we left it as clean as we found it ☺️) A couple of tips: 1. We found the hot water a little tricky to work using the timer, but because the shower is electric, you only need it on for a short while to have enough for the washing up or a bath so it’s better just to turn it on with the switch and off straight after to avoid wasting electricity. 2. Make an effort to go to the little Fairbourne railway on your first day and add the gift aid option when asked, which gives you unlimited travel on it for a year (just go to the booth each time to register your travel and don’t lose your original ticket). We used it four times to either shorten the journey across to Barmouth or to shorten the return. And it was just a pleasant experience to ride it, so why not! We ended up not using our car for the whole week as we could get everywhere we wanted via foot/boat/train (big and small). 3. The shop in the town really has everything and was better stocked than most village stores I’ve been to and the breakfast at the little chippy was just the ticket to set you up for the day. 4. Penrhyn bar and grill is a great little village pub with a real community feel. We went on three occasions and it was always bustling and friendly (we met an amazing and huge dog called idris with the most amazing eyes!) 5. Get a heads up of the tide times and plan your [dog] walks accordingly as there really is no sandy aread for about 1-2 hours before high tide and 1-2 hours after. 6. If you fancy something a bit different or fancy for dinner, try foxglove restaurant in Barmouth. It’s fully vegan (I’m not!) but the food was exquisite. You get a set ‘5 course’ meal prepared by Luke which uses the most fresh and wonderful ingredients. I’ve never seen or tasted anything like it before. It’s all locally sourced (where possible), foraged and organic produce so it’s ethical, which makes you feel a bit smug. It wasn’t the most filling food and it is expensive, but what an experience! And they welcome dogs like family friends so it’s a real must for adventurous animal lovers! We got the train back at 21:46 after a cocktail at a pub called The Tilman which I also highly recommend. Everyone we met was so friendly and everyone loved our two dogs. I would definitely consider coming back here again!

"We had such a lovely holiday at Hafod-y-Gors."
The weather was the very best ever, and we have been coming to Fairbourne and Barmouth too many years to remember. We loved this compact bungalow. Immaculately clean and well presented. Comfy beds. Lovely big enclosed garden for our Whippet. Yes the bathroom hasnt been refurbished yet, but it is clean and functional, and the shower was fine for me and Ive got long hair which takes a while to wash and rinse. Please owners, if you do reniew the bathroom can you keep the bath please, and just put a shower over? I was cold one evening after swimming and a lovely bath warmed me up! We loved your bungalow so much we have booked it for next summer!! Thanks.

"Nice and quiet, own garden and a wonderful view on the back."
The winter garden on the back is particular nice. Kitchen and bath are clean but got old.
-
"Very comfortable and clean."
Enjoyed our stay. Only downside was the shower was quite poor.
Thank you for your feedback, and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay. We have been planning to refurbish the bathroom including installing an electric shower in a cubicle and full wall and floor tiling. The start had to be postponed several times because of covid restrictions, and we are hoping to be able to carry out the work in the coming winter. Property Owner

"An excellent property extremely clean and fully equipped with everything we could want."
The garden was lovely and very safe for our dogs. The little conservatory at the back was a lovely place to sit and watch the sun set. We were very pleased and enjoyed our stay. Would recommend this property
-
"Fantastic. beautiful scenery."
quiet. Friendly neighbours. Horses in field at back of property, lovely to watch. Everything you need.
-
"First of all thanks to the owner for making the garden secure !"
.There is now fencing and a gate at the side which gives peace of mind. The property was comfortable although sofa could do with replacing as it has dropped on the right side. Beds were brilliant !! we both slept well. Neighbours were friendly as were the people in the village and to top that a fantastic beach.
-
"The property was very comfortable (especially the beds!"
). The kitchen was very well equipped. Sadly the weather was rubbish but I think that's out of your control.
-
"Perfectly situated with stunning views over mountains and Mawddach Estuary."
Very comfortable and well kitted out holiday let. Owner was incredibly helpful and flexible when I needed to stay on longer. Would definitely recommend!
-
"The back garden needs making secure dogs can easily wonder away Also the front conservatory was leaking."
-
"The bungalow was too small for 4 adults, and not secure for dogs."
The lounge was very small, and furniture not comfortable. Also on an estate of similar properties, picture does not show this. Toilet flush was damaged too. After a week near Bala at Tryweryn cottage we were disappointed. Fairbourne is very sadly run down and neglected. We feel the bungalow is overpriced and will not return to the property or the village.
-
"We had a comfortable, peaceful stay at Hafod y Gors with our two dogs."
The place was spotless. We were even lucky with some good weather for a few days, with lots of great places to see. The views from the bungalow are absolutely stunning. We loved sitting in the rear conservatory, so peaceful. The only thing that would have made our stay excellent and relaxed would have been to have the garden fully enclosed, with a side gate and stock fencing at the bottom of the garden to prevent dogs from going into the ditch. A broom would be good to sweep up grass cuttings in the conservatory. Overall we had a great time and would like to return there soon.
-
"The property was very clean and mostly comfy not too keen on the very hard sofa in the lounge, but the one in the conservatory was excellent and with great views its where we were most of the time when we were in."
The property was has been updated and is in good order the only disappointment was the shower. There was everything required for an excellent week personally I would have preferred a washer rather than a dish washer which we never used. Great to have eggs and milk left for us to use. Great area, the shops are good as is the chip shop and pub, very quiet and everyone was very friendly. Super base for walking or visiting and the backdrop of the mountains was amazing.
-
"It was very clean so no complaints there specially with pets allowed."
The property could do with some updating specially the shower and the boiler . The grass was cut but the clippings were not collected making impossible to use the garden or let the dogs out as they were covered in bits . It is a very natural area with birds and sheep’s frequently visiting the property
-
"As mentioned by other visitors, the garden is not secure and the long grass at the back made picking up after the dog difficult Apart from these minor points we thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
-
"The bungalow was very homely and very well equipped."
It was spotlessly clean, small but felt bigger especially with the two conservatories. The large bed was very comfortable and had a view of horses grazing over the estuary. We could hear a pin drop - it’s so peaceful. The ten minute walk to the beach was well worth it, large and virtually empty. There is a shop, chippy and pub within walking distance and friendly neighbours. The walk over to Barmouth and ferry ride back was great. We had a relaxing few days and would return.
-
"The Bungalow was very comfortable and well equipped."
Beautiful views from the rear conservatory. The property is listed as dog friendly but would benefit from the rear side access being secure as it is open at present. This allowed wandering sheep and a dog to use the back garden. All in all a nice property to holiday in and a great location for the area.
-
"This property does what it was supposed to do."
Dogs - adults and children even - can not currently be contained within the garden. I'm sure guests would prefer to know that.
-
"A fabulous bungalow in a great location & fabulous views , with everything you need for a relaxing break."
A great base to explore to coast and countryside. Handy to have local facilities ie shop baker and butchers and of course the chippy only a short walk away. Information re bin day would be useful and what to recycle. Need to ensure Hot tap in bathroom Is turned off. A great break ... Maggie & Len Birmingham

"Lovely cosy cottage."
Quiet area. Easy to walk to beach, pub and shop, curry take out and chippy. No washing machine but launderette very near, again walkable. Had a super stay here . looking out at the mountains truly breathtaking!

"We have been really blessed in managing to spend a week at Hanford-y-Gors and would happily stayed longer."
The house has just been refurbished so everything is brand new. The two conservatories are a bonus, with amazing views from most windows; including horses, sheep and cattle grazing beyond the garden. The furniture and beds were very comfortable and the house was warm and cosy. The kitchen was well equipped, new and very clean. Our only issue was the hot tap on the bathroom sink, which was difficult to turn off, a very minor point. In terms of future developments, a guide to the property, mentioning key points such as waste collection arrangements, heating controls, local doctors or health centre contact numbers etc would be useful and beneficial to guests. Parking was easy, with plenty of space to park in the bays opposite the property. The local area is stunning, we would recommend this property to anyone who likes walking, as there is an abundance of walking routes either from Fairbourne or a short drive or train ride away. The Talyllyn and Fairbourne railways are both worth a visit. The Penrhyn Grill on Beach Road and the Fish and Chip shop by the railway station both offer great food at a reasonable price. We have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this property and wish the Owners well in this exciting venture.
