  • "Very clean, compact little cottage."

Good location for long dog walks on the beach. Great views from the garden across the bay. We had fabulous sunsets every night of our stay. The kitchen is compact, but the multi purpose combination microwave oven thingy did it's job as did the mini double hob. Roomy fridge, but no freezer compartment. Ideal for 2 on a short break. The walk along the beach into Harlech then back on the old Harlech road to the doorstep is about 5 miles and very enjoyable except for the hill up to the village. Y Gwyllt (the Wilderness ) cafe is v. dog friendly and has great coffee and pizza (and wool), and Y Groser has really good quality produce and excellent "proper" ready meals and the friendly owners will also deliver to the cottage.

The bed was very comfortable, and having a morning cuppa, while watching the sheep in the field opposite, was a chilled way to start the day. The sunsets and view down to Shell Island are stunning, as are the walks from the doorstep. As a solo traveller with a dog, it was reassuring to know that the owners where only next door if needed. I'm looking forward to my next stay

  • "Saw it had a welsh name, Bwthin y mor, disappointed it had been changed to an English name, why!"

. It was decorated according to the welsh name. Tv wouldnt work so had to call ownwer who came immediately to show us how it worked. From him, we discovered that there was no BBC channels, and that there was a firestick so there were lots of other things. We had no idea about a firestick, everything we tried to watch seemed to need a sky card or a prime account so we were stuck with the freesat minus BBC programmes. In the summer this would not be a problem, in the winter it was. There should be info on how to use these things as well. We didn't know how to use the microwave/oven and avoided using it, again no instructions. Seating was uncomfortable, small and slouchy whereas I need something that would support my back. (bed was also uncomfortable but this is a personal preference). No instructions on recycling so we guessed at what went where. No bin in the kitchen. Shower has mould growing and is very poor. Took ages to get soap from my hair as the shower wasnt powerful enough. Bathroom generally needs some modernisation

Hi. We are disappointed and quite upset to see you discovered so many issues with our lovely cottage. We are next door and would have happily assisted again with the TV if you had advised us that you were struggling. Full and comprehensive instructions for the combi microwave oven are on top of the microwave itself (I just popped round to the cottage to check they were there and they are). There is a kitchen bin underneath the sink. The blue recycling bins outside are clearly marked "paper / plastic & cans / glass". Sofas and beds are personal preference as you state. We take your point regarding the shower, it has been a long season with back to back guests as the cottage is very popular and we are aware that the shower needs re-grouting, which we will attend to. The bathroom and shower are cleaned thoroughly after each set of guests leave, so certainly no "mould is growing". "Happy Landing" is the business name we inherited when we bought the property, it refers to the history of the RAF base at Llanbedr... the cottage is legally registered with the Welsh name. We are sorry that you found no positives from your stay here with us, as we have received nothing but excellent feedback all season. Property Owner

Thank you for your feedback. Regrettably you did not give me the opportunity to check the property before you left. After you departed, I had three independent people check the cottage. Unfortunately in the UK the one thing you cannot plan for is the weather and sadly for us we endured the tail end of hurricane Ali for 2 days and nights and then torrential rain on a third day! BUT, despite the really scary gale force winds and torrential rain coming straight at us from the sea / Cardigan Bay, we felt really safe, warm and cosy in the cottage and returned home feeling rested and relaxed. On the good weather days we loved wandering around the little shops in Harlech town and journeying to shop in Porthmadog and Barmouth, thoroughly enjoying the drive to both places as the stunning coastal views are simply awesome! Our most favourite place was Llandanwg beach - really close to Happy Landings - and the first beach that our little dog Bonnie had ever been on. The Harlech area was new to us but we enjoyed a really lovely break and plan to return to this area as it is just so lovely.

The property

Happy Landing is a wonderful seaside cottage set in the western part of the Snowdonia National Park, in the lovely little village of Llanfair.

This traditional Welsh cottage was built in the late 18th century and boasts stunning views of Cardigan Bay and is less than a mile from Llandanwg beach, which due to its location is shielded from the famous Welsh winds so you can enjoy the area even in the off-peak season.

With welcoming accommodation for two people, this could be the perfect romantic retreat for you and your loved one.

Wander through the serene front garden and enter the property into its snug conservatory area which makes for a fabulous spot to sit and admire the coastal views without the brisk sea breeze.

From here, step into the whitewashed cottage and be welcomed in by the homely open-plan living area.

This enticing space is dominated by a magnificent Inglenook fireplace placed next to the cosy two-seater sofa, a fine place to curl up and enjoy an evening in with your other half.

To the other side of the living area sits a charming and fresh kitchen, along with a delightful dining table looking out towards the picturesque coastline.

Take the stairs and be welcomed by the bright and spacious bedroom, a king-size bed is enhanced by dual-aspect windows and benefits from its own refreshing en-suite shower room.

To enjoy this surprisingly mild climate, wander out into the front garden, where a choice of sitting areas display wonderful vistas to sit and admire with a chilled drink.

Llanfair itself provides a café and some fascinating Slate Caverns, while the popular, historic town of Harlech is just one mile away.

This is a fine holiday base dominated by its ancient castle, it also comes with the beautiful Royal St David's Golf Club on it's doorstep.

A further two renowned Links Courses within easy reach make it an ideal destination for golfing enthusiasts.

Nearby there is something to suit every taste, awe-inspiring walking and cycling is available throughout the Snowdonia National Park, a day at the traditional seaside resort of Barmouth is also a must-do.

Bring your loved one to this fabulous seaside cottage to enjoy the rural wonders of North Wales.
