"The house was amazing with wonderful views."
Kitchen well equipped,, Lots of good facilities for families. Everything you need. Only drawback was car parking if you had a few cars. Well worth the money
-

"Everyone really enjoyed their stay and would highly recommend anyone to come."
Lovely views, lots of games and you can also park 3 cars. Thank you ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"Well equipped house, patio and balcony and games room."
Lovely house for family gatherings. Fantastic coastal setting.
-
"Beautiful view from the house."
Comfortable beds, amazing bathrooms and lovely hot water. Loved the table tennis, outside space and tv area. Lounge area was family friendly. Few cons: couldn’t find the outside cushions for the chairs, the pool table is unusable as the cushions are perished and the ball does not spring back. The air hockey table has no air?? The fridge/freezer is much too small for the size of the property. There’s room to put another one downstairs. We found glass under the bed and behind the door of second double room. No blue bags to put bed linen in at end of stay

"Machlud Haul was a lovely place."
The view at the back was excellent. The inside was lovely but we should not of had to strip the beds at the end of our stay as the break was not cheap. Also the door in the down stairs bedroom didn't close properly to the bathroom and the shower tray didn't empty very well, also the bed in that room wasn't very comfy and the games rooms weren't very sound proof even with the doors being closed.

"What a beautiful place."
We loved our stay at Machlud Haul. The house is well equipped and comfortable for a multi generational get together. Plenty of space to be together yet enough space to have some downtime separately too. The games rooms were well used by all family members. The views from the balcony (and all the rooms at the back of the house) really were outstanding. The owners very kindly arranged for champagne in the welcome hamper to help Mum celebrate her 80th birthday. They really went out of their way to ensure it was a very special time for her. We made so many memories during our stay and will definitely return soon. Thanks so much Kay and Tony

"We were a family of 8 adults and a toddler."
The bedrooms were a lovely size. Two of the bedrooms having en-suites were ideal. Views from the terrace were stunning. Loved the games rooms. Had so much fun in there with our grandson. Only slight downside is the parking. We managed to get 3 cars on the drive. But it is at an angle so reversing on was a little tricky. However, the road wasn’t that busy. Would definitely recommend for a large family.

"Machlud Haul is an incredible place to stay, the views from the property are stunning and the house is maintained to a high standard throughout."
There was plenty of room to accommodate 9 of us and 4 cars on the drive. Thank you Kay and Tony for organising a hamper to acknowledge 2 milestone birthdays and for all their help leading up to our stay. We're already talking about returning next year

"We have just had the best holiday."
The property felt like home instantly. It was immaculate to. Its very well equipped and everything is top quality. The matresses are great quality non of us have bad backs
-
"Everything was great, thanks!"
Quite an outstanding property for a big group, we enjoyed every bit of it from the views on the sea (we saw dolphins and the machlud hauls where unbelievable), the amazing countryside behind the house to all the entertainment the house offers. Also the fully equipped kitchen and many bathrooms where a huge plus.

"Beautiful location and house Very clean and no issues at all"
-
"9 of us stayed here and all of us commented how lovely the property was."
Gorgeous sea views, well equipped throughout with some nice home comforts. The owners communicated well and were keen to make sure we were happy and had all we needed. It's the first time we've looked to return somewhere - very recommended!

"This is a lovely house benefitting from a perfect coastal position."
We enjoyed spectacular sunsets each evening whilst sitting on the veranda enjoying a glass of bubbly, with the added bonus of waving to occasional passing trains. The house was clean, comfortable and well stocked. Our only criticism - We were 6 women waiting for the bathrooms to dry hair and ‘put on our faces’ - so mirrors in each bedroom would have been very helpful. The owners kept in touch with us with helpful tips on where to go. Thank you Kay and Tony. This is a house I definitely recommend and would book again.

"We had a lovely stay at Machlud Haul."
The property is ideal for a group stay. Even though the weather was awful throughout our stay, there was plenty to keep us entertained. The property is well equipped and all of the facilities were of a high standard. The views over the sea and coastline were stunning. The trainline that runs between the property and the sea provided the entertainment of trying to get the train drivers to toot their horns as we waved to them from the balcony. The noise from the passing trains was not intrusive and the trains only passed once every few hours and not at all during the night. It is well worth having a day out on the train as the scenery is absolutely stunning as the train makes its way along the coast.

"We stayed at Machlud Haul as a group of 9 adults and 4 children over Easter (29th march - 5th April) and can only comment on how lovely this home was."
Previous reviews have mentioned the building works so before I start my review I want to comment on how these works did not affect our stay at all. The workmen didn’t start at unsociable hours, they were polite and didn’t impact our parking/ leaving of 5 cars! And we genuinely didn’t notice any noise unless outside which really didn’t fuss us at all. The area isn’t fenced off but children arguably shouldn’t be left unattended due to the steep drop and main road, so wasn’t an issue! (Our children ranged from 0-7 years old). The property was immaculately clean, well presented and provided all amenities you would expect and more. The house is like a tardis, there’s so much space and areas to accommodate a large party of people. The views are incredible, at times, it looked like you weren’t even in the UK, let alone the Welsh coast! We even saw a dolphin from the sofa in the lounge. The swing chair on the balcony was lovely to kick back and relax, the games rooms was a great addition for the whole family( luckily no family arguments due to competitiveness) and the kitchen was lovely to cook in! All the facilities worked perfectly well, no issues with the internet (although we had full 4G throughout the stay) washing machine and TV’s all worked fine. The locations quiet but really nice local farm shop and coffee shop to explore. Our only point for the host to consider is to add additional mirrors to the bedrooms but this is a minor point! We would definitely recommend this property and would like to come back in the future!

"I was very unhappy with the building works."
We were not told about this despite ringing Sykes several times to ask for more information about the change to parking. We were literally staying on a building site. It is not safe. There was constant noise. There was no privacy. Our access was blocked by the works vehicles. We had no internet on our daughters birthday, 26th March. I’m also concerned about any children who may be staying as it is not fenced off. To say that this spoiled our enjoyment is an understatement. We deserve some compensation. I have photos and videos. I await your response.
We are sorry to hear the building works on the plot next door bothered you. However, your review is not accurate. There are no building works on the site of the holiday home (only next door). There are trees and a driveway between the properties so there was some privacy. You were offered a refund for the remaining four nights should you have wished to check out early but you not only stayed until the last day but also asked us if you could check out late on departure day which we kindly agreed to without an additional charge. I note that we also provided you with a weeks worth of logs at your request which we did not charge you for. There are no safety concerns in relation to our site. Hopefully this clarifies the situation as I feel it is important to be transparent and provide complete and accurate information. Thank you Property Owner

"Incredible property overlooking the sea."
Photos don't do the place justice. Split over three levels, the ground floor is basically a double games room. Pool, full-sized ping-pong table, massive TV; perfect for a family (or friends) get-together. Middle floor has a well-equipped kitchen, and a wonderful lounge with glass 'sea-view walls'. It was December when we went, so we had a glowing fire to relax around. Oh, there's also a balcony to enjoy the stars at night or to peer out to Cardigan Bay during the day (where we spotted a pair of bottlenose dolphins frolicking in the water!) Rooms all comfortable, warm, and roomy (apart from one which is particularly small but does the job for one person). No garden as such but you don't need it - kind of a 'decking' area with BBQ, ample garden furniture and basketball hoop for the young at heart. Perfect position to explore the delights of Snowdonia and the West Wales coast. We took a 20-minute train ride into nearby Barmouth for a day out. Fabulous little place with stunning scenery on the way. There's also a cracking pub in the village where we enjoyed the roaring fire, pool table, dart board, and tasty pints of Golden Hen. Highly recommended.

"No sky channels, no dartboard, dust everywhere, broken bed, toenails on one ..."
No sky channels, no dartboard, dust everywhere, broken bed, toenails on one of the bedroom floors, holes and cracks all over house, weeds all round house, games rooms smell damp, owner of property lies, said there was sky channels and we can't of checked cables, yet it says on all the channels but free ones that you have not subscribed to them, spiders and webs all round house, loads of dead flies behind doors, shame as the area was lovely, this was the 3rd time we have used sakes cottage, and this property is no where near the standard as the other 2 we stayed in, very disappointing
Thank you for your review. We appreciate any feedback in relation to the property as it allows us to address any issues and thus maintain high standards. In order to address the issues above please see below: - there is sky tv and Wi-Fi and Netflix etc at the property. We have not advertised that all sky channels are available - the above is sufficient for most guests. - there is no longer a dartboard at the property due to the number of younger children who stay with us. We felt the addition of a table tennis table and kareoke machine more than compensated for this. - we are sorry to hear that the cleanliness of the property was not up to your standard. Please be assured that the issues will be addressed promptly and we do appreciate your feedback. - we are sorry that we were unable to offer compensation on this occasion as requested by yourself. The reason for this was that we leave a number of a local contact to report issues so that they can be rectified quickly. No issues were reported. Thank you again for your feedback. Property Owner

"A great place with plenty of space for the different family groupings to either all be together or in their own worlds."
Some good walks in the area, the sea close by, the café in the farm shop. The kitchen was surprisingly well equipped. Thank you.

"A beautiful house."
Very modern furniture with coordinated soft furnishings. A fantastic kitchen and bathrooms. A full length mirror would have been handy. Lighting was a bit too dim when eating or playing games at dining room table in evening plus I couldn't see my book to read in bed, I had to use my phone torch. The view was brilliant and the balcony. Couldn't find cushions for outside furniture (swing) though. They were not in the utility room. The red folder of facts was very helpful and a lovely welcome basket was much appreciated. We love games and thoroughly enjoyed the two games rooms downstairs - table-tennis and pool. We saw a dolphin in the sea - a delight. The railway wasn't running our week so we didn't see the daily train. Overall a wonderful holiday with plenty to see in that part of Wales. We went to Portmeiron for the 4th time. The weather started off scorching and then rain and then pleasant throughout the week. No easy access to the sea - best to drive to sandy beaches nearby. If you love dogs - go to Barmouth. Everybody had a dog. The town was bustling and although we were only there a couple of hours, we must have seen a hundred dogs. If you should choose Maclud Haul, enjoy your stay.

"Our three generations very much enjoyed their stay at Machlud Haul."
The view from the lounge, through the floor-to-ceiling windows, was absolutely stunning. At times it took our breath away. One family member likened it to the Caribbean! However, a blind would have been helpful during the sunset when we were sitting at the dining table. Also, the key only opened one window (on the right, as you look out to sea). Ample crockery, cutlery, pots and pans and glasses for 11. A cafetierre (we bought one) and a teapot would've been appreciated. Plenty of hot water at all times. Delightful welcome pack, thank you, Victoria. The cake was yummy. Have to say the photos on the website make the lounge & kitchen look more spacious than they actually are. The games room was appreciated and very well used by all. Plus we all comfortably sat to watch England beat Australia on the huge TV downstairs. A couple of dishwasher tablets would've been appreciated as would a couple of small tables in the lounge. But on the whole, I would be happy to return to Machlud Haul. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

"This is a great recently refurbished well maintained property set in beautiful place and most suitable for our annual June family holiday together with our adult children and grandchildren who all enjoyed the games room, watching trains go by and the short walk to the beach, which we had mostly to ourselves, as well as a couple of outings on the train to Barmouth and Harlech and just relaxing on the wrap around balcony or the comfy large settees just enjoying the view and ever changing scenes of the sea and glorious sunsets."
The house is fitted out thoughtfully with high end spec fixtures and fittings with generously sized bedrooms and comfy beds. The owner was in contact with us to ensure all was going well, their generous welcome pack was gratefully received and enjoyed by us all. We had a very blessed holiday and time together in this lovely place and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

"Amazing property with stunning views."
The property was in perfect condition, with the hamper a nice touch. Will definitely be recommeding Machlud Haul to family and friends.

"Ideal place for a family gathering."
Enough of everything for 11 of us. Well equipped and comfortable. Great communication with the host to answer questions. Amazing location. Constantly changing sea views across to the Lleyn Peninsula. Thank you. Andrew

"A fabulous property with lots of space, great amenities and incredible views."
We had a wonderful family break for 10 of us, it exceeded all our expectations. The owners Tony and Kay were available if we had any queries and were very kind and generous sending a gift for my husband who was celebrating a 'big' birthday.
-
"Excellent holiday accommodation for a large family group, Beautiful location the views were stunning."
Plenty of walks and places to visit in the area.and the owner is so friendly and professional …. I will definitely recommend it.
-
"Nice property and location."
Not as cosy as I would have liked it to be , sofas were not very comfy and a smaller television in the corner rather then in the middle wasn't ideal. Overall it was good but not an ideal experience with a bigger group due to limited and not as comfortable living space. Bedrooms were all very nice and views were beautiful.

"The house was amazing , they was a awesome Welcome pack for Adults and Kids as well."
Location it's just pure gorgeous. Everything was just perfect ! Highly recommend and we definitely will be back .

"We all had the best holiday, everything you could need was there."
We had a small problem but someone came to help sort it. There was a lovely welcome pack for adults and one for the kids full of things for them to do. House was decorated for Christmas there where 3 Christmas tree’s. Host was away on holiday but phone to check everything was ok.
