  • "A comfortable stay."

Well equipped. Information booklet very out of date and confusing especially about the heating. Front gutters need attention, leaking and overflowing in heavy rain. No starter pack left for the wood burner. Thank you for the use of the cottage. I had a great time.

  • "This would be our second visit to Edryyd, I must say I do like the cottage and the location is perfect for us."

A short walk into town or a quick drive to the beach. It has suited our family, hence the repeat booking. My only downside / frustration is the double bed in the main room, it is so uncomfortable, the bunk beds offer a better nights sleep. All in all we enjoyed our time there and Harlech is a lovely little town with amazing locals.

Thank you very much for your comments. The mattress is a memory foam mattress that was deliberately chosen to be firm. Apologies if this did not suit you. We will check this and replace as necessary Property Owner

  • "The cottage is in a nice location."

It is in a quiet lane. No parking on that street for this cottage? But other cottages park on the street Parking is difficult, but a permit is provided. This didn't work well for us as my mom is 80 so there was a lot of moving of the car to make sure she didn't have to walk too far. Cottage was well equipped in the kitchen. Has everything you need. Bedroom with bunk bed was good and comfortable. Main bedroom was clean but bed was very uncomfortable. You can feel slats of bed through mattress. Bathroom is small but clean. Shower didn't work well for my 6foot3 husband. He couldn't stand up straight in the shower. Floors downstairs on arrival weren't cleaned well but overall was clean. May need the rug in living room cleaning as smelt of dogs. I personally moved it so my dogs didn't wee on it to cover other smells. Garden is small but useable. Shame there was no access to shared larger garden. Harlech is quiet. Has a few shops and chemist. No general store. Has Indian, Chinese and chip shop but only open certain days. Café on main square was really nice and did really good hot chocolate. Would we stay again? Probably not as not really suitable for our needs. Information folder in cottage needs a complete overhaul. Not been updated for a great deal of time. It looks as though other users of the cottage have done updates themselves!

  • "The cottage is great - central heating excellent and plenty of hot water, comfortable and well-equipped, except where noted below."

Good central location in a quiet street. One issue needs immediate attention: the gutter over the front door overflows in heavy rain. This made our arrival a bit tricky - and wet! Minor points:- not a lot of cutlery, no corkscrew (horror!), the backyard is a bit of a mess and, finally, although the central heating is great, it does seem to have a mind of its own and resets itself on occasion.

  • "The place and location were lovely."

Our only complaints are about some of the details. There was no soap, bar or liquid, in the bathroom. Harlech is a small town and we could not check in until 5pm on a Saturday--not easy to find soap at that time. Also, there were only two small rolls of toilet paper. Yes, we were able to buy additional toilet paper in town. But, really, is it too much to expect that there will be sufficient toilet paper?

  • "Beautiful stay at Edrydd, nice modern kitchen and bathroom with a lovely view of the golf course and sea."

Just enough space in the rear yard for our two little dogs. Beautiful Harlech is a great base to visit this area and would definitely rent this cottage again. One tiny mix up i hope the owners cater for an idiot like me, it wasnt till we read in the manual for the property the parking permit is only valid for the top car park. Excellent fish and chips a few yards away and a nice curry in the village. Thank you Edrydd.

  • "My family and I really enjoyed our stay."

The cottage was all we needed for our trip. The kitchen was well equipped with what we needed. There was lots of information about the sights and surrounding area although a lot of it needed up to date information. The welcome pack contains very old / outdated information and needs to be addressed. The double bed is very uncomfortable. Although the parking is at the long stay car park which can be a nuisance with off loading the car, shopping etc the parking permit can be used in a lot of parking areas around the area. The courtyard is small but pleasant however not a garden as advertised.

  • "Quaint cottage situated in the middle of Harlech village."

Had everything required for our stay. Terrace at the back gave a lovely view of the sea and mountains but only tiny and a little cluttered.

  • "The house was fine, but lacked quite basic things that would have made the stay a lot more comfortable."

The welcome information is out of date, the activities suggested are cursory at most, and it should have been made clearer that the parking permit is for the long stay car park only - not the closer short stay. There was also no bin in the bathroom, no dishwasher tablets, vegetable peeler or cafétiere - not essentials but definitely basic expectations. The double bed is extremely uncomfortable. And the outdoor terrace was untidy with sand all over the tables. It was a perfectly adequate place to stay, but felt like attention was lacking to make it a welcoming place to come back to.

  • "Property was lovely, well maintained and clearly had been improved in recent times."

This just meant that some of the forward info, the listing and even some of the info within the property was out of date. I can't fault the experience because the few minor queries/challenges we had were answered quickly and efficiently. Great place for a young family and the great little courtyard for our dog. Great location in Harlech, reasonably priced so all good.

The bathroom needs regrouting as the flooring is coming away. Also entry time at 5 pm is too late especially as nights getting darker. Otherwise comfortable accommodation in good position centre of town.

  • "The cottage was listed as being 10mins walk from the beach."

However it was actually 10mins walk down very steep roads then, 15 mins walk through the golf course and sand dunes. The walk back up was challenging unless you are super fit. One of the roads to the beach bears a sign saying "The Steepest Street in the World" and has a gradient of 37.5. The closest convenience store and the pub had closed down and the restaurants and takeways in Harlech were not open every day so it was necessary to drive somewhere to eat. The cottage was comfortable but in need of some refurbishment and there was no welcome pack or anything like that. There was some sketchy information about the local area but more detail would have been helpful if, like ourselves, you are new to the area. There was no visitors book with tips and info from previous guests. Although we wouldn't stay in Harlech again due to the lack of amenities, we would definitely visit the area again.

  • "On arrival we found an empty plastic water bottle under the bed which suggested that the cleaning had been less than thorough."

There were no spare toilet rolls and no cloths for wiping down surfaces, only a single scouring pad for dish washing. The few remaining dishwasher tablets were soaking wet and totally unusable. The patio chairs were slightly damaged and very uncomfortable. Although the property was in an excellent location near the centre of the town it was rather basic and quite disappointing.

  • "The house was in a great location in the centre of Harlech with a fantastic view over the bay from the terrace at the back, especially at sunset."

It was clean and had everything we needed, but was a little tired and worn in the kitchen and bathroom. It clearly suffered from damp, but fortunately the weather was hot and dry while we were there, so we were able to leave the windows open and it was fine. The parking permit was great and enabled us to park all over the area. Overall I thought it was a great little place for a short summer break.
