  • "On arrival beds had not been changed cottage had not been cleaned ."

Upon complaint cleaner came to the cottage changed beds emptied bins and went leaving a bottle of wine nice touch but did not clean the bathroom or elsewhere . With the price we paid for the week we were very disappointed. Cottage was comfortable and amenities provided were ample . We did enjoy our stay and we did leave the property cleaner than we found it

  • "We loved this cottage - it has everything you need for a really comfortable and enjoyable holiday."

The surroundings are lovely and peaceful. The walk into the woodland directly behind the cottage is beautiful. You are close enough to lots of great places to visit. We would definitely return.

  • "We have stayed in many cottages over the years and Beser Cottage is definitely one of the best."

It is a good size and very well equipped in terms of cutlery, crockery etc. Comfortable sofas and plenty of space for four adults and our cockapoo. There is a small secure garden but having a private gate directly into the very extensive woods was perfect for us and our dog. Safe and convenient parking for our two cars. I was hoping that we could walk along the river into the village (1mile) but this didn’t seem possible. We would have had to walk along the road for about 300m to get to the footpath and with no pavements a little hairy. It would have been nice if there was a Visitors Book in the cottage. We always find it very helpful to see what other guests have recommended in terms of eateries, walks etc.

  • "Good cottage in lovely location."

Well kitted out. Loved the wood directly through garden gate. Only criticism really is it wasn't the cleanest property we have rented - a few cobwebs, TV screen needed good clean and I doubt the windows have been cleaned for some time. Nonetheless, we really enjoyed our holiday there.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Beser."

What a location for exploring North Wales; there's plenty to see nearby but also within easy reach of some brilliant places! We have three small children and they all thoroughly enjoyed their stay. I do have a suggestion of a stairgate also being fitted at the bottom of the stairs. The stair gate at the top was brilliant but our youngest was 14 months at the time and if we were downstairs we had to make sure we were with her at all times. You could keep the doors shut in the kitchen/living room but our other children being very active this wasn't really an option for us. Other than that, the cottage is fabulous; lovely open plan kitchen/dining room with everything you could need for cooking. Comfy sofas to snuggle up on with blankets, plush beds to sink into and plenty of room for clothes. The cottage is old but been modernised to a very high standard. Not a huge amount of outside area but it's placed in such a good location that doesn't really matter. We loved walking to the waterfalls and going into the local village for dinner. I read other reviews saying about it not being clean and wondered what we would find - as I like a clean house - but generally the house is clean and well kept. There were a few spiders and some cobwebs, generally by the sides of cabinets/small tables, but nothing major, like I said above, the house is of a high standard. Perhaps the cleaners just need to dust down the side of the cabinets/tables when they clean? We would definitely like to return in the future!

  • "Lounge, full of dust and cobwebs, seating very uncomfortable and covered with debris under seating cushions."

scatter cushions also grubby and dusty. Kitchen, worktop next to kettle had numerous cup ring marks on it and the silicone seal between the worktop and splashback was loose and grubby. one of the ovens did not work and the freezer needed defrosting and was not maintaining temperature. Cupboard were the cups were kept was also dirty again cup rings on shelves. Outside cushions in outside store had been chewed by rodents, the store its self looked like a bomb had gone off inside. The upstairs of the property was clean and tidy very comfortable. I have taken numerous photographs of everything I have detailed please contact me again so I can forward them to you. The cottage its self was fabulous and we had a great time but we felt these points need to be mentioned as it has let the property down.

I’m delighted you thought the cottage was fabulous and were able to have a great time staying there but obviously disappointed and concerned that you found it to be uncomfortable and unclean. Our housekeeper has been with us for two years and this is the first complaint we have had so I am surprised but we will discuss the points you raised with her. This weekend we were able to visit the cottage ourselves so I can give you some updates. The shed/store has been tided and swept out, shelving is going in so we can keep tools and paints etc in one place and off the floor. We have bought new cushions for the outdoor furniture and a storage box to keep them in, and have thrown out any old bags from firewood, logs etc. We ordered two new sofas for the living room back in October but the delivery has been put back twice which is annoying but not uncommon these days and beyond our control. We have been assured they will be with us by the end of May. We checked the ovens and all are working ok and we have sanded and oiled the worktop to remove the cup rings and bought some mats to protect it going forward. The freezer has been defrosted. We also now have a gate at the bottom of the second entrance steps to make it safer for dogs. I hope you will come back and stay at the cottage again and apologies for the issues you had but glad it didn’t spoil your stay. Thanks for your feedback, always much appreciated. Property Owner

  • "We really loved our stay at Beser Cottage, thank you for having us!"

The setting was gorgeous and the teeenagers loved the water running so close by. The dog loved her daily walk in the woods and the gate access is such a lovely touch. The location was the perfect for exploring the Snowdonia National Park and we really loved the beach in Harlech. The cottage had pretty much everyone you could ask for. Our only feedback would be that the garden does still not have a gate to one set of entrance steps, so we had to be really careful with the dog. To tend to be over careful on holiday anyway, so didn't cause us too much of an issue. Also we did mention during our stay that the property lacked anywhere to hand wet clothes and towels. A small airer, or outside line would cost very little and make life a lot easier for large families. I appreciate there is a tumble dryer but lots of items can not be tumble dried, so increased drying facilities would really help.

So pleased you enjoyed your stay and thanks for the feedback. We’re always grateful for any comments that help us to improve the cottage. We had hoped to have the new gate for the second set of steps installed before the first visitors of 2022 but that was not possible. I’m told it should be done in the next few days. We will add a clothes horse for the inside of the house and will look at installing a retractable clothes line outside if it can be done safely. We’re also waiting for new sofas for the living room, they’re due to arrive at the end of May. Thanks Simon Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage that had everything you need."

Fabulous area with woodland walks from the door. Beautiful sandy beach 10 minute drive away at Harlech. The big problem we had is that we took a dog and the garden is not at all secure. Open entrance to the road at one end of the garden with no gate

Dear Mrs Tateson, Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at the cottage and thanks very much for your feedback, it's very helpful. We will install a gate at the bottom of the steps this winter to make the garden more secure for dogs and children. It's also noted that you weren't completely happy with the accuracy of the listing or the cleanliness of the property. If there's any more information you can give us on either of those points, then we can look to address them as well. We hope to see you again soon. Thanks. Property Owner

  • "Expected to enjoy a beautiful n peaceful time away but it was SERIOUSLY more beautiful than I'd anticipated."

The 1824 Cottage is beautiful and secluded but within walking distance to the local bars and amenities including bus stops to barmouth and stunning harlech beach. Everything we needed had been provided. From dishwasher to washing machine and tumble dryer , the modernised cottage is equipped with everything you would need. At night all you can hear is the sound of the running river being close to nantcol waterfalls. There were five of us in all and not one of us had a bad word. Definitely going back and didnt want to leave !!! The signal on phones are hit and miss but that was a blessing and u dont have to go far to find your phone pounding if you want that on holiday !! The only fault if you could say that is a second gate round the side ( which I understand is happening) but the road is quiet and the locals totally lovely....if you brave it take the car up the road pass the cottage (right hand as u face cottage) to the black lake in the heart of the mountains but dont be speeding or you may end up in the lake !!! A wonderful adventure but equally tranquil...we all loved our entire time and I was there two weeks and still didnt see eything we wanted. Thank you ! You wont be disappointed I assure you !!!!

  • "Roomy and well maintained cottage that lacks a few things that would make it even better."

There is no stair-gate to stop children or dogs from using the stairs and the sofas are well past their best. Otherwise this is very good accommodation in a good location for walking locally and for exploring this part of the Welsh coast.

Dear Mr Clark, thanks for your feedback. It's our first year renting out the cottage so any suggestions as to how we can improve things are very welcome. We will be installing a stair gate and buying two new sofas this winter so hopefully it will be that little bit more comfortable for you if you choose to come back again next year. Thanks again. Lovely location with lots of walks and bike rides from the doorstep. We were lucky with the weather, so enjoyed splashing in the river. It is a bit noisy with farm traffic at certain times. Would definitely recommend the cottage and the location.
