• "We loved the cottage, it has so much character and the decor is perfect."

  It has great facilities and we really enjoyed using the wood burner and the lovely claw footed bath especially! We were amazed by the amount of outside space we had access to and the river at the bottom of the garden was a beautiful surprise. Thank you for sharing it with us!

• "Nature lovers paradise."

  Adjoined to the owners house, but cleverly fenced off, so it feels private and the addition of a stream next to the private meadow at the bottom of the garden was beautiful. The boys enjoyed a blissful few hours bug hunting & playing by the stream, we found a pebbly bit further down to the right, where they enjoyed skimming stones and paddling. The cottage was full of character and well laid out for a family. I could sit by the arched window all day, beautiful. The kitchen was outstandingly equipped, and I was able to cook from scratch, not missing anything. If there was anything to improve... it would be the toaster was misbehaving, so you have to hold down the slider to toast. The shower was colourfully decorated and spotlessly clean, unfortunately there was a strong chemical smell in there. We are a neurodivergent family, so a few of us could not bear to be in there. This didn't bother my husband however, who had a shower. It was hardly noticeable in the upstairs bath room, and we enjoyed bubbly baths in the tub, just sharing incase it helps to improve things. The provision of a welcome basket was much appreciated and a friendly hello on arrival from the owner to check if we had any questions was very kind. We only wish we were able to stay longer! The birdsong here was a real treat for us, and we used the app merlin to identify the following. Garden warbler, Song thrush, Great Tit, Blackcap, Goldfinch, Blue Tit, ChiffChaff, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Dunnock, Redstart, Magpie, Crow, Rook. It would have been lovely to see them, so the addition of a bird table would be fun. All nature lovers, make sure to pack your binoculars.

We have bought a new toaster and fixed the boiler which actually had a small leak hense the smell I’m so pleased to appreciated the space, the river and all the nature at Dolpebyll and enjoyed cooking in the kitchen ! • "Beudy Dolpebyll is a beautiful cosy cottage situated in a peaceful and fairly remote area."

  The cottage is very well equipped for a comfortable stay and the heating is very efficient if you are staying during the colder months. The lovely garden leads down to the river which I would imagine is perfect in the summer. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and definitely want to return next year.

• "A Lovely, cosy,well equipped cottage."

  With it's own private garden. It was lovely to sit in the garden to relax and unwind, in a beautiful and peaceful area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners gave us a warm welcome and were very helpful. They shared their knowledge of the area,which helped us plan places to visit.

  They were very pleasant guests and they sent us a beautiful hand wrought toasting fork that the blacksmith in the party made by hand. It is so wonderful when people respond so positively and appreciate our beautiful place by the river Property Owner

• "Beudy Dolpebyll is a very cosy cottage."

  Rooms are nice and excellent views of the well maintained garden. The postcode does not take you to the cottage so use the property name, however the owners guided us to the cottage. The road to the property is single lane, therefore you have to look out for oncoming vehicles. Overall lovely stay and definitely will recommend to family and friends.

• "Such a lovely characterful cottage with quirky bedrooms and many original features."

  The cottage is well equipped and should you need anything nothing is too much trouble for Shani and Steve. My two boys had a brilliant time playing and exploring around the spacious grounds. Although we don't live that far away, here you have peace and quiet and time to relax. Definitely looking forward to our next visit.

• "We did not enjoy our stay unfortunately, as the cottage was dirty and riddled with black mould."

  Many areas did not seem to have been cleaned at all. The shower had grime and hair still in it, the kitchen pans were filthy, and there were lumps of dust/cobwebs/dirt in corners and behind all the furniture. The bedding and soft furniture smelled damp and musty and there was what looked like a large blood stain on the covers of the double bed. However, more concerning than this was the amount of black mould. Every room had large patches of black mould around the windows. There was mouldy silicon around all the sinks. And the downstairs bathroom had patches of black mould all over the walls. The gas also did not work on two mornings that we were there. It is connected to a small gas canister outside so I imagine the rubber pipe had frozen in the morning frost. We ended up cutting our stay short, which is something we have never done before, but after spending hundreds of pounds to stay here, the dirt and mould just made us too uncomfortable in the end.

  So sorry you had a bad experience here, thank you for your comments on how lovely the cottage and site were when you arrived. Sorry you did't take up our invitation to view the art studio which you were interested in viewing. After seeing your strong report when you left we were of course shocked and upset and inspected the cottage thoroughly -there are no blood stains in the property, possibly you saw a faint faint stain on the duvet cover the result of a pizza eaten in bed probably 6 months ago which has been bleached and washed repeatedly - we have removed this duvet cover and use it ourselves - there is extra bedding and covers in the cupboard. Kitchen pans were all fine. Yes, there was black mold on the metal glazing bars of the kitchen and the bedroom window - we have cleaned these with anti-fungal cleaner. This is something that occurs in cold weather from condensation in moist areas and is something the cleaner missed, the cottage having been empty for several weeks. We do apologise for this - we try to keep the cottage clean and dust free and suitable for anyone with allergies. A few small grey patches by the window and in the shower room were found and dealt with - we are talking about a patch a few inches across! The tiny area of mold on the shower room ceiling was probably caused by someone using the dryer without turning on the tractor fan in the shower room. We can only apologise for this and will concentrate on keeping a check on this. Your problem with the gas supply on one morning we responded to in 1 hour - probably caused by a kink in the flexible pipe and I am glad it came on again quickly. The gas hob and the electric oven are both new and in perfect working order. We love our little cottage and most people have a wonderful time. Thank you again for your feedback. Property Owner

• "Lovely cottage and large garden, quite rural with access along a country road, but lots of places to visit."

  Unfortunately no welcome pack is provided therefore essential food items for the first day are necessary. It was very nice to meet the owners who gave us some very helpful information for visits during our stay.

  Well it is wonderful when people appreciate the property. Usually we give the guests Welsh products like cheese etc. there is a local shop a mile away selling essential things. And Cann office a mile away provides good food People usually arrive with all their food provisions as it is in the middle of Wales. Property Owner

• "Our stay at Beudyl Dolpebyll was wonderful and just how I imagined it to be."

  very rustic with wonderful contryside surrounding it. The cottage itself had all the amenities we needed and the rooms were cosy, comfortable and authentically charming. Oue hosts introduced themselves to us on the first day and were helpful if we needed anything, even down to lending us parcel tape when our car had a mishap. The cottage was tricky to find, so would recommend using what3words as the main means of direction. All in all a fabulous home away from home. Many Thanks.

• "Negatives. Directions inadequate (we didn't use satnav)."

  Bedroom too small for double bed - had to use twin bedroom. Bedrooms are very compact with low beams. Overall the property was in need of a refresh. (The description was incorrect as it is attached to a barn/workshop). A badly lit dark property. We didn't attempt to open any windows as they looked too fragile. Positives. The garden is beautiful and the views are great. The local has good pub food. The surrounding area is lovely.

  The special quality of our cottage that its a unique converted cow house with three little bedrooms, old fashioned windows, and a lovely light living area in the middle of unpopulated beautiful countryside with original paintings on the wall, as it next to two artists studios.And has its own drive, a river meadow bordering a river and all modern amenities. if you want a large house with a tarmac drive this is not for you Property Owner

• "Great property clean, quiet, with everything you need get up to the sound of birds farm animals and the river running at the bottom of the garden."

  The owners were very nice and helpful if you needed something. The only negative was the front and back doors are very low being 5'2" this didn't worry me but anyone taller would have to be careful.

• "The cottage was lovely."

  It had everything we needed and was kept lovely and warm by some solid radiators. It is in the middle of nowhere which is what we wanted although the local pub is less than a mile away and an easy walk. It also served good pub food and the prices reasonable. There is also a local post office/shop where you can pick up basics and a cafe next door. There are lots of all walks in the area and Lake Vyrnwy only 10 miles away. We had a wonderful time, thank you.

• "Think people should be made aware that it's a bit of a problem if you have mobility problems on the upstairs area due to the amount of stairs and different levels up there."

• "Beudy Dolpebyll is an amazing place."

  So quaint and so peaceful, with the beautiful and spacious garden and grounds with river lovingly tended to and happily shared by the lovely owners, all to yourself. Just as you have given up finding it along the long, narrow road, you are met by a surprise, the name on a slate and a tree-lined drive up to the cottage. It gives you the feeling of going back in time and of being landowners for a short while and really being away from all the stresses of life. The cottage is catering for all your needs, a bit small in places, but that's the charm of an old cottage. Trips to Welshpool and Machynlleth give you a chance to stock up, but the lovely local vintage tearoom Cwpan Pinc also has a well stocked small shop where they have a good range of much needed items. Well worth visiting, also for the nice meals, as is the local restaurant. Plenty to do and see in this lovely part of Wales too. Can fully recommend!!

• "We were made most welcome by cottage owners Shani and Stephen."

  They were happy to share their vast knowledge of the area which was most useful in aiding our trips to local attractions. The Cottage itself was very well equipped and the location alongside the River Banwy idyllic. When the odd evening chill kicked in we took full advantage of the wood burning stove which complemented a very efficient central heating system which greatly added to the whole feeling of wellbeing, tranquility and cosyness that Beudy Dolpebyll provides. If ever returning to this part of Wales we would undoubtedly look to stay at this Cottage again.

• "This was a last minute holiday for us."

  I tried a few companies to see what was available at such short notice. Sykes were definitely the most helpful and friendliest and I also found the web-site easy to use. The cottage we stayed in was wonderful. It was well equipped and very cosy and the perfect place to get away from it all. We loved the place and were sad to leave. • "We were very happy in this lovely cottage in an outstanding location."

  Shani and Stephen were welcoming and helpful. We will return and found it hard to leave, especially on a beautiful sunny, Spring day with clumps of daffodils and trees in the garden and along the drive, pots with Spring flowers all around the cottage and the views - which are some of the best we have seen in our many stays, at various locations in Wales. It is a lovely cottage to wake up to in the morning and to relax in at the end of a day. Days out we especially enjoyed were Lake Virnwy - waterfall walk and the RSPB hide and cafe and craft shop are worth a visit, Llangollen - Castell Dinas Bran - outstanding views and the canal walk to Horseshoe Falls and Pistyll Rhaedyr waterfall and walks. For us not an issue at all, however for those with decreased mobility, there are a few steps from 2 of the bedrooms and up to the bathroom - though there is a downstairs shower room too. One of the few places we have stayed in that has both a dishwasher and dryer.
