"This is a very special property that is remote and comfortable."
It has a real home feel - with everything you would have in a home. Just be aware this is accessed via a steep in places single track road with minimal passing places and a steep drive. The walks around the village and from Knighton were excellent, varied levels of challenge and terrain! The house has every resource you need to make the most of the area. Three school friends had the best time - thank you - even hankered down one day when it was too foggy and stormy to go walking. Thank you

"Beautiful property, with lovely views, the peaceful location was bliss, just what was needed for a restful week."
The property is so spacious and lovely to have the two ground floor bedrooms. The benefit of a secure dog exercise field would be a great asset to this rental, as we tended to walk our dogs down to the gate or around the Orchard which is quite a gradient. Would definitely like to return to The Orchard. Thank you for sharing you beautiful property.

"The Orchard is a fantastic holiday property, well equipped and in a lovely quiet location."
Very good for our dogs, they loved it too. The dark skies are a bonus. Lots of excellent walks. Good communication with the owners. We all had a great holiday, thank you

"Beautiful house in a beautiful quiet location."

"Great property with outstanding views."
Really well furnished. As others have commentated a larger freezer would have been a bonus as the nearest shop is 7 miles away. But overall a fantastic place

"Excellent property, very well equipped, superb location."
Everything you need including maps, guides, recipe books and games, all of which we made use of. Area is beautiful and quiet, great walking. The Border Gold cider is excellent, thank you for the complimentary bottle. Great to have quality kitchen equipment, we enjoyed cooking there which is good as eating out options are limited without a little travel. I'd recommend both the Greyhound and Lion Hotel for drink and food respectively, great hospitality at both.

"The Orchard is the perfect place to stay if you want an isolated, comfy, beautiful break away from it all."
Our collie loved it as much as we did. When we had the lounge doors open, he’d happily lie in the sun on the patio, taking in the sounds of wildlife and the lovely views across the hills. I felt comfortable taking him around the grounds either without a lead or with a free, long lead. The inside is ideal, too, as the stairs lead straight up to a bedroom with a door, and the other two bedrooms are on the ground floor. The property is on a quiet, narrow country road, but if you turn right at the bottom of the drive, it widens out and makes for a pleasant walk. The driveway up to the property is steep but manageable. Its length really makes it feel that the property is in the middle of nowhere, even though it’s only a few minutes drive to the small, quiet village nearby. There’s an abundance of wildlife (we went in June): we saw bullfinches, crows, red kites, buzzards, and bats up above, and sheep, cows, and a deer in the fields over the valley. This is a dark sky area, but due to the light nights in the summer, we didn’t get to do much stargazing. We might come again during the winter and hope for cloudless skies! We were, however, fortunate enough to be treated to an RAF display in the valley. The beds are comfy, though you could tell that one of the king-sizes was two beds together. The bathroom downstairs is very modern and large, and the open-plan kitchen-lounge is nicely laid out, with wide-opening doors to the patio and Sky TV. Note that there is only a very small freezer, but there are two well-sized fridges. We were generously treated to a pint of milk and some cookies on arrival. We ordered a Tesco delivery for our first evening and it arrived with no problem. I’d recommend taking a car down the drive and throwing your shopping into the boot by the gate. The kitchen is well-equipped with decent appliances, though the kettle could do with a good clean. The tap water often appeared cloudy, but we just boiled it before use and it was fine. We loved the stable door in the kitchen - we could have the bottom half shut but enjoy the outside while we were cooking with the top half open. Overall, this was a fantastic stay. We loved every minute and were gutted to leave, but we will certainly be back to enjoy it all over again.

"Lovely cottage, very quiet rural location with no road noise."
Spacious and comfortable. Nice views from patio across valley. Bedrooms all large, comfortable and clean beds. Not over looked and very private. Exceptionally peaceful and relaxing. Good facilities inside and several toilets/bathrooms… always a benefit with a bigger group. Lane approaching steep and narrow for those not accustomed to rural driving . Some areas of cottage were dusty. Only suggestion is that it would be lovely to be left a pint of milk (and possibly a few tea bags ) on arrival. Having always taken milk over last few years, we didn’t this time as have consistently found our holiday cottages have at least a pint in the fridge on arrival. Our Tesco delivery resolved problem a little later. Minor point.

"What a lovely property."
We stayed here for a week and really enjoyed ourselves. Nice to have a log burner, but the cottage is so cozy, you might not need it….but we do like a good fire. Plenty of places to visit. The church at the bottom of the road is interesting Stokesay Castle. Croft Castle Ludlow Llandrindod Wells, Lake Park Pembridge Tudor village. Westonbury mill water gardens, just outside of Pembridge. Berrington Hall. The only niggle I would have with the property is it hasn’t got a freezer. Only a little one in the fridge. If you have a bigger family staying, don’t bring lots of frozen food for your stay. There are shops in Knighton.

"The Orchard is a great rental in a lovely remote location."
I feel it needs a little TLC and the cleaning between hirings needs a litttle more attention. However, this was a minor thing that would result in a perfect score if addressed. I would judge that a nervous driver would be stressed negotiating the road from the pub to the cottage. Overall - We had a great time and would come back again when revisiting this part of Wales.

"A superb cottage in a remote location with great views across the valley."
Comfortable and well equipped, making it a lovely place to get away from the busyness of life.
-
"The house was very warm nice to come back to , nice area and the little pub down the lane welcomed us in but very small, the stars at night are so bright on a clear night and no light pollution, only one thing we could fault was a lot of dust around on things."
... but that was the only criticism we have , would go back again

"What an outstanding property!"
I can't rate it enough, it's roomy, and very light and airy, and the underfloor heating so welcome. Every room was colour co-ordinated and decorated to a very high standard. The bathroom was to die for, I felt as if I was in a 5 star hotel! The kitchen is very well equipped, and the poppy themed crockery very apt, as we were there on Remembrance Sunday. It's very remote, which made it so relaxing, there are no street lights, and almost zero traffic, great for star gazing. The Greyhound Inn at the bottom of the road was very welcoming, and the Co-op in Knighton is an experience no one should miss. We will certainly book again, maybe in the summer, so we can enjoy sitting outside to enjoy the view.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
The remoteness was so relaxing. So glad that we had a 4x4. The cottage was equipped to a high standard and a lot of thought had been given to the details. Will definitely be returning.

"Fantastic cottage in a lovely quiet area."
Great facilities and plenty of room for our dogs to run around in safely. Lovely to sit out with our family in the day and evening watching the Buzzards, Red kites, bats and hearing the owls and of course the sheep. We would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a break with peace and quiet and fantastic views.

"The cottage was absolutely lovely, clearly a lot has been spent on the conversion and fitting the property out to a very high standard."
The views were glorious and it was very peaceful. The dogs absolutely loved the grounds and it was comforting that the garden was fully enclosed. The local area was very picturesque and most of our basic needs were met in the village of Knighton. The Co-op is an experience but to be missed. If there was one slight negative, which is absolutely no reflection on the cottage whatsoever, is that the local villages, although quaint and pretty, have shops with very erratic opening hours. Several times we went visiting to find most shops shut, even on a Saturday. Presteigne even shut its petrol station which caused a bit of a panic. So worth some planning before visiting. Ludlow was worth a trip, that seemed to be open most days.

"So much more than five stars!"
We just spent the most amazing holiday at The Orchard. Those views!, the grounds, the orchard!, the property!..., simply stunning! Lots of big windows in the cottage to drink in that fab view plus bi-folding doors to the patio area off of the living room. The open plan kitchen/diner/living area is superb. Two of the three bedrooms are on the ground floor which was great for my husband and I, our pooches and my 83 year old dad. We shared the large, stunning marble bathroom with large walk-in shower. There is another very large bedroom upstairs with it's own en-suite shower room, great for bigger groups. The separate wc in the utility area was perfect for quick loo breaks before heading out to the shops or returning from the local pub. The furniture, fixtures and fittings and kitchen appliances are really good quality too. Everything you could want for a most relaxing holiday was provided for. We bbq'd one day using the large bbq provided, which was fantastic. Sitting outside during the days and in the evenings was so very relaxing and calming, in fact my dad sat for hours inside and outside just admiring the views, enjoying the peace and calm. All you hear are the birds, bees, insects and the occasional sheep/lambs bleeting. Absolute country bliss! The Greyhound Inn in the village is a short walk away and is lovely, very friendly owners and locals too. The large (it's like a Tardis!) Co-Op in the next village of Knighton is your closest for groceries and petrol (a mere 15 minutes by car), plus a variety of other shops, more pubs; and Prince and Pugh were great for gifts and those last minute things needed for your holiday (such as citronella candles, fly screens for windows, food containers, household goods, cakes, biscuits etc). Do pay them a visit and also the Music shop next door - really lovely friendly people, well everyone in the area is really. We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and will be back soooooon! And the pooches had the most amazing time in the enclosed gardens. They absolutely loved their holiday too! Love, Gail, Ed, pooches and my dad xox

"Definitely five stars."
We have just spent two lovely weeks at the Orchard. We had a really lovely stay. The property itself was really spacious, everything you could possibly need was provided. The beds were really comfortable, plenty of storage provided. The most wonderful thing about the orchard is the total peace and quiet. Surrounded by quiet lanes and just sheep really. There was a lovely outside area to sit, spectacular views across the blossom filled orchard and beyond. Tesco just a 20 minute drive away. We had home delivery on the first night. The grounds were enclosed and perfect for our pup who absolutely loved it. The housekeeper was very helpful when we spoke to her. We would definitely go back in fact we can honestly say we didn’t want to leave.

"Fantastic cottage, with beautiful view across the valley."
Property is totally isolated and peaceful, the dogs loved it and quality fencing all around the large grounds, they were free to roam. It is 20 minutes to the nearest shop.
