We were lucky enough to spot red kids, woodpeckers, as well as a number of tit varieties and squirrels. If peace quiet and relaxation is what you want, you couldn't ask for anywhere more perfect. Not only was there a generous welcome pack which included treats for our dog as well as us, but Penny went the extra mile and made us the most gorgeous chocolate cookies. Thank you. Our dog enjoyed the freedom field so much and can't wait for our next visit too. We loved seeing all the various birds who came to our bird feeder- especially the woodpecker. Even the birds can't keep away from beautiful Ty Twt.

There are so many lovely walks in the local area and the owners, Penny and Digby recommended several places for us to visit. Nothing was ever too much for them and they made our stay just that extra bit special! Would we stay again, absolutely!!! Already looking at dates for next year. Ty Twt had everything you needed for cooking& to say our 4 legged baby enjoyed the stay would be an understatement! Frank loved the dog field and making friends with Poppy and Peca. Penny & Digby gave us lots of tips and pointers on where to go in the local area and had provided plenty of leaflets in the cottage to inspire our stay. The cottage surpassed all our needs; lovely little private garden with amazing birds visiting the feeder continuously we saw a woodpecker, sparrows, blue tits, great tits, blackbirds, robins and chaffinches- oh, and a squirrel. The skylight in the bedroom gave us our own private viewing of the myriad of stars visible in the night sky. This was very hypnotic and added to our sleep quality. The owners were lovely people - so helpful and kind - nothing was too much trouble for them. We loved the scrumptious homemade choc-chip and fudge cookies which we devoured very quickly. Our Husky Malamute, Ariya, loved the dog exercising field and we made good use of it in our short stay. She really enjoyed her freedom too. We will definitely be returning as soon as we possibly can. Well maintained gardens and very pet friendly welcoming owners. I have been staying at this property twice annually for about 8 years and apart from the sometimes weak wifi connection which would possible trouble people who MUST have a phone it is ideal and the bird life is a joy to watch.

Hi Ian, always a pleasure to have you here, and thanks for your recent feedback. We normally thank guests and reply to feedback through their personal email, however, I thought I'd respond to yours through the portal, to allay any concerns about the wifi brought up by your feedback, that other future guests may have: As with a lot of rural Wales, usable land-line wifi is pretty much non-existent; so we had a dedicated 4G system installed early in 2022. This gives a wifi speed of around 20Mbps - which is fine for streaming, email, wifi calling etc. At present the signal is broadcast around the cottages by plug in signal extenders - which occasionally need resetting, simply by switching them off, then on again. To make the system more robust, and avoid the occasional reset, we've had a communications company out, who have recommended we install hard-wired access points throughout the cottages. We will be commissioning this work to be done. We look forward to seeing you again on your next visit. With best regards, Digby & Penny Property Owner

The cottage was very clean and had all we had wished for. The kitchen area was a little small but caused no issues. It is plenty big enough for two people and a dog. The cottage was nicely furnished and the remote location made it a very peaceful and relaxing stay. The hosts , Penny and Digby made us very welcome and went out of their way to provide any help and information we needed. The grounds of the property were very well maintained and organised and being pet lovers themselves loved having our dog Misty around. Each of the two cottages has its own small, enclosed garden, but beyond that there are are lovely gardens planted with interesting shrubs and trees and two adjacent fields. There's plenty of space to sit outside and listen to the birds, and it's perfect territory for a dog to roam. Penny and Digby and their two dogs couldn't have been more welcoming. They gave us useful advice on places to visit, and were very quick to sort out a minor problem in our cottage. The welcome basket was a very nice touch, and our dog enjoyed the special treats provided! Upstairs there's a large and bright bedroom, and the bathroom. Downstairs the sitting room and kitchen are quite small and a little dark, but very comfy--fine if you keep things tidy! Everything was very clean and fresh. The bird-feeder outside the window attracts a wide range of birds--and squirrels! Wifi was fine, but turning it off and then on again is occasionally necessary to boost the signal. The Post Office/shop at the bridge, about 5 minutes' drive away (25 minutes' walk) has started offering very good coffee and home-made cakes--highly recommended!

The property

Ty Twt is one of two charming, adjoining, adults only (18+) cottages ideally positioned at the foothills of the rolling Cambrian Mountains and within easy reach of the unspoilt West Wales coast.

Part of a former small farm dating back to the 1600s, Ty Twt, a converted barn, sits in a tranquil location above the village of Llanfair Clydogau, with far-reaching views down the Teifi Valley to the Cambrians.

The cottage is an ideal base for a romantic getaway with the location being ideally suited to those seeking a peaceful, rural location away from the bustle of everyday life, whilst being within easy reach of the coast and many other local attractions.

Ty Twt has a bright, airy double bedroom on the first floor to wake up in and start your day, with sloped ceilings and a Velux window, storage space for your belongings and a quiet corner to read a book.

The adjacent bathroom offers a hot morning shower or a relaxing soak in the tub after a long day of hiking.

The cottage has its own south facing garden, enclosed with fences, and hedging for privacy, surrounding the cottage are extensive landscaped grounds, comprising lawns, formal planting and areas set aside for nature to run wild, you'll find some truly wonderful spots to read a book, throw down a picnic rug, or just relax and unwind.

The estate is a haven for a huge amount of wildlife, from hedgehogs to hares, we have wrens nesting in the drystone walls and kites circling overhead, at night the owl's hoot is a comforting reminder that you are somewhere special.

There are two fields which guests and their dogs are welcome to use, the three-acre upper field is enclosed with stock fencing, which provides a relatively secure area for obedient dogs to be exercised off lead, this field is kept with short mown grass for this purpose, escape artists and less obedient dogs are welcome, but on lead please.

Within the upper field is a fenced area with picnic bench, positioned to make the most of the fantastic views from the property, here guests can enjoy alfresco drinks or dining whilst keeping their dogs close by.

During the summer months, guests are also welcome to use the lower field which is left for the grass and wild flowers to grow, a meandering footpath is mown around the perimeter of the lower field, which may be used for on-lead walks.

In all, there are just under 8 acres of grounds for guests to enjoy.

The nearby villages of Llanddewi Brefi, Tregaron, and the market town of Lampeter have some great eateries and independent shops for you to discover.

For days out to the coast, destinations such as Aberaeron and New Quay are within easy reach; or you may choose to walk a section of the breath-taking coastal path, and find a quiet cove to yourselves.

In the cottage you'll find a good selection of leaflets covering local attractions, with the coast on one side and mountains on the other, there is always a great day out to be enjoyed.

From busy days out, to pure relaxation, this is the perfect cottage for your holiday all-year round.

Blaencyswch Holiday Cottages are in a dark skies area - the absence of night-time light pollution makes for some of the best star gazing around, on a clear night the skyscape is truly awe-inspiring, all of this awaits at Ty Twt and Blaencyswch Holiday Cottages.
