  • "We really enjoyed staying in this really cosy and quiet cottage."

We especially enjoyed the fire, which warmed up the cottage really nicely and was well stocked with kindling, fire wood and briquettes. The cottage was also well stocked with all the basic essentials and the hosts even provided us with a pint of milk and some Welsh cakes when we arrived on the first day :) We highly recommend this cottage for a nice and peaceful retreat!

  • "Just returned from a lovely 3 night stay at Gorrig Cottage."

Two adults, a 12Yr old, a 14yr old and 2 dogs. The cottage was perfect for us and the dogs. There was everything we needed for our stay. Be sure to take plenty of dog towels (we did) as the front entrance leads into the main lounge area so the dogs have to skip across a bit of carpet before they get to the tiled kitchen and bathroom areas. The back door into the enclosed garden is off the kitchen. We were out and about all day 10am to 7pm ish so the traffic from the road didn't bother us. It might have done if it was high summer and I had been in the garden with morning coffee or evening G&T ( check me out it sounds like I live my best life at all times !!) Previous reviews state the entrance is narrow ... it is.... but perfectly doable with care. Plenty of logs provided for the log burner, beds were super comfy. Lots of information and leaflets in the cottage. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did . I am now off to see if I can make my own Welsh cakes !! Xx

Very noisy nailing drilling plaining etc. and was making the owner's dog bark continuously from 8 30 in the morning until late afternoon No warning of this was given when we arrived Building works ended after the first week but the owner's dog continued to bark loudly at every noise Not a restful holiday and one we will not recommend or repeat

As mentioned in several reviews, the entrance gate is a bit of a challenge! We found the lounge chairs a bit uncomfortable and only the 2-seater sofa was really comfortable to sit on, so we were a bit cramped. The garden flowers on the dining table were a much appreciated gesture.

  • "The property was ok for a week's stay."

The listing stated that there was a CD/DVD player, but there was not when we arrived. The property was very cold... so we needed the heating on much more than it was set for... The log burner was a great asset. The parking was tricky at times as the gate is quite narrow... but we managed.. not sure how it would be for someone with a larger vehicle. The garden was good for our two dogs... but we had to drive to find a walk where we could have the dogs off lead.

The cottage is in the most beautiful setting with everything you need for your holiday including a pint of milk and Welsh cakes for your first cuppa. We found the walks in the cottage booklet really helpful and enjoyed a few of them.Theres also a list of local attractions and a list of shops in the nearby village. Whilst outside in the garden you will see plenty of wild birds including red kites and buzzards flying above you. We would recommend the cottage to anyone who likes the peace and tranquility of rural life with beautiful walks on the doorstep.

It's only letting me click on 4 stars for this review which is a shame as it deserves a full 5 stars. Clean, cosy & very homely, set in a beautiful location, we were greeted warmly. Very thoughtful touches like Welsh cakes & fresh milk along with tea, coffe & sugar, fresh daffodils plus a full log basket & coal scuttle, I cannot praise Mair & Alan highly enough on their beautiful holiday cottage. The booklet provided information on lots of local walks, all in spectacular scenery as well as offering advice on local eateries and places of interest. The enclosed garden is beautifully peaceful & a lovely spot to enjoy a bit of sun & birdsong. Absolutely superb, 10/10. Thank you for a lovely little break, I'm already looking forward to my next visit

It was warm and comfortable, the enclosed rear garden perfect for the dogs. Right from our arrival, greeted with welsh cakes and milk, through a very cold week, where we loved the wood burner stove each evening, the owners had provided everything we needed. With on site parking we were able to feel safe and secure in the lovely country setting, with such easy access to wonderful walks and scenery. A great holiday where we ‘recharged our batteries’.

They had left us fresh milk, Welsh cakes, tea, coffee, salt, pepper, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing powder and plenty of fuel for the fire. The supply of all these basics is a great help to settle in quickly. The dogs were totally secure in both rear and front gardens so we could relax and let them wander about whilst we unpacked the car. Two friends stayed with us the first 2 nights and they found the adult bunks very comfortable as we did the double bed. The living room is like a pub lounge: very cosy, but, because we were staying in September during Covid19 and the evenings were drawing in, we had to spend lots of time on the lounge furniture which could be more comfortable. We’re not young and would’ve liked a greater level of comfort in the sofa and easy chairs. That was the only negative and, had we been able to go out more, we wouldn’t have noticed it.

On arrival, we were met by Mair and Alan (the owners who live next door, helpfully!) and told that there was a pint of milk in the fridge, coffee and tea in the cupboards and even Welsh cakes on the kitchen worktop! Mair and Alan were very helpful when the washing machine broke down; offering to do our washing for us. They even gave advice when we found a poorly bat under the gate! Washing up liquid, washing up gloves, dishwasher tablets and recycling/bin bags were all provided. We had lots of fun swimming outdoors during our stay and would highly recommend both this cottage and the area as a place to go on holiday.

I proved to be a good central base for exploring from cardigan up to Aberystwyth and inland too. highlights were the beach at poppit sands, cardigan and the red kite feeding centre, bwlch nant yr arian forest, Aberystwyth. lots of good walking for our digs too. weather was awful but it was lovely to cosy up next to the log burner in the cottage after our daily excursions. will definitely be going back to explore some more, hopefully with better weather.
