  The kitchen had everything you could need and the balcony as a lovely spot for a cup of tea! It was very convenient for the town centre, within a 10 minute walk and very near an ASDA, It was in a good position to easily travel to many places on the coast such as Cricieth, Abersoch and Nefyn. We would certainly stay again.

• "The gateway to the property is very narrow and access might be difficult for a very large SUV type vehicle."

  There are four steps to be negotiated to gain access to the cottage. It would be helpful if these details were included in the property description. The cottage is spacious and the central heating keeps the property nicely warm. Kitchen pots and pans, utensils, crockery and cutlery are quite adequate for a family of four. The lounge is well provided with seating but none of it particularly comfortable. The owner, Mr Evans, did say he planned to replace items for the new season. The double bed was comfortable and well provided with bedding. The shower in the bathroom is excellent and the heated towel rail is good but is the only heat source. There are good views over Pwllheli from the rear windows and a large area of lawn at the front between the cottage and the main road. We did not experience any undue road noise during our stay. Mr Evans was very friendly and helpful and gave us an insight into the history of the large house in the grounds of which the cottage stands. All in all we would thoroughly recommend Bwthyn as a good base for exploring the area.

  The gateway to the property is 8 1/2 feet wide which is ample for cars including SUVS, vans and boat trolleys. The allocated parking space is close to the gateway and a flat pathway leads to the cottage where there are four steps up to the entrance door. (If Mr Evans graciously allows parking in his own yard, you will find 6 extra steps to be negotiated) Property Owner

• "In the cottage description, you mention 3 steps to the front of the house."

  There is no mention of the 6 steps and stone path from the parking area to the house. A disabled person would need to alight from the car at the main entrance and then negotiate the gravel path to the house. We were very happy with the accommodation. The owner, David, was very pleasant and helpful.

  Our children loved searching for Gruffalo’s within the secluded walls, tasting fruit from the trees and walking barefoot on the fluffiest grass. A gem of a stay in a fabulous location, a wonderful host and a magical resonance of our youth. We will return as we always do year on year to Pwllheli but we will most certainly be gracing the lodge with our presence again.

• "This was our third stay here we have loved it, but property needs upgrading, kitchen, crockery, beds, towels, carpet."

  WiFi was intermittent but on day we left check out was at 10am but at 9.45 owner and cleaner came in without knocking. Without masks and cleaner went into room and started cleaning when we were just doing our final checks to make sure we had not left anything and moving last bags out. We asked if we could have an extra 5 minutes and were told no as she is here now! Was a poor end to the holiday and made us feel rushed and unwelcome.

  The weather was exceptionally cold and the cottage felt cold even though the heating was on. But eventually it did warm up and we were nice and cosy. Just one problem. We took some DVDs with us but couldn't get the DVD player to play. I tried to call the owner on several occasions for advice but there was no answer. This does need to be addressed

• "When we arrived the cottage, it wasn't ready for us."

  The cleaner hadn't turned up so it wasn't presentable, a rather messy apartment, no fresh clean linen on the bed, no clean towels, dirty linen in the bath. I contacted the owner and he kindly gave us directions to another house not too far away for the night and he resolved the problem first thing the following morning. We had the option if we wanted to stay in the house or go back to the previous cottage, which we decided would be better for us. We didn't want to stay in the house with stairs as it wasn't convienent with a crawling baby and wouldn't be very relaxing without a babygate. It was a disappointing start to out holiday after travelling with a poorly baby for hours and all went wanted to do was settle in for the night and unpack. However, the owner was very apologetic and resolved the issues as soon as he could which we were grateful for. Once settled we enjoyed our break away.

  This cottage a definite improvement. Would book this one again. Kitchen was good. 2 cupboards were full of glasses, too many really unless a large party was taking place. Therefore room for dry goods was restricted. But we managed to put most of glasses in one cupboard. Space in the fridge was wanting too, badly designed in the first place. Cooking facilities good, although we went out for most main meals.

  The floors were dusty and didnt look as if they hadn’t been cleaned. Fridge hadn’t been cleaned as we found bits of food in it. This I know is being very picky but just feel that this should have been looked at before we came. Little attention to detail like, maybe a few games to play and provision of a DVD player if the weather is bad, as reception when it’s windy allows you to only watch BBC. I appreciate this is a new property and is still a project in motion so I think in a few months this will be top notch but I couldn’t give it top marks I’m afraid.

  The friendly, welcoming owners live next door so on hand for anything you might need. The welcome pack with milk, bread, butter, sugar, tea, coffee and homemade fruit cake was much appreciated. The cottage is on a main road but most of the traffic was farm vehicles and really didn't bother us. The A55 is just up the road so access is good to all the major attractions. I would highly recommend this cottage as a very comfortable base to explore Anglesey.

  Apartment was well furnished. The reason we cannot give the apartment a higher score is that is was not properly cleaned. We've stayed in quite a few apartments before, but never in such a dirty one. Floors in kitchen and bathroom were definitely not mopped (cleaned with water and detergent). Other parts of the house could have done with a proper clean as well. We also considered the amount of towels provided to guests (2 per person) too few. We missed an instruction for the key box. There are many instructions in the apartment but not for the key box. How to reset if you type in the wrong code for example.

  It had every thing we needed. The beds were the most comfortable I have slept in. The furnishings were lovely. The sofas were also very comfortable, easy to spot the good quality. The garden was very nice and safe for our dog. The location was perfect if you want peace and quiet. There was a pub and a,couple of nice Hotels which all welcomed dogs in the bar and gardens, about 1.7 miles down the road. The beach was within easy reach. We did not walk owing to the hot weather and having to try our best to keep the dog out of the sun. Had the temperature been cooler then I am sure we would have walked down each morning. Great location foe exploring the area.

  It was lacking a clothes line or airer which was a pain for drying beach gear and our waterproofs which we did not want to put in the tumble drier. There were no clocks anywhere except on the oven. An internal bin/box for putting recyclables in would have been helpful, as we had to pop outside every time we wanted to put something in the recycling. The cottage was lacking in tourist information and local walking maps/direction, although we did appreciate the OS map.

  Comfortable and in easy reach of local amenities. Would definitely return to this cottage. I had a lovely relaxing time. My Grandson loved walking around the cottage as he toddles about.

  Good spot for the harbour, steam trains, shops and restaurants. Comfortable beds and good kitchen and seating area. Only comment would be that a small dishwasher would make the holiday let perfect.

  There was no washing up liquid, no oven glove, an empty hand wash bottle had been left on the basin, there was insufficient toilet paper, and the freezer compartment of the fridge was so iced up, its door could not close which in turn was preventing the main fridge door from shutting.

  Lovely to go somewhere that's equally as nice as where you live. Great views too, despite the rain! The basket of logs could have been bigger but it was nice to see dishwasher tabs, bin liners, cleaning materials, loo roll etc had been provided. A very enjoyably stay.

  The private garden was a real bonus. Perfectly placed in Criccieth, and exploring further afield was very easy. Would not hesitate in recommending this cottage, although it is worth mentioning the low beams in both bedrooms. As it turned out this was not a problem for us, but if you're on the tall side it could be!

• "The cottage lacked a lot of things to be functioning as self catering."

  The underfloor heating was not working, no matches provided for the fireplace, 2 logs for 5 night staying guests, no handbook. The living room window was stuck ajar, bathroom window not frosted nor had curtain, no wardrobe in the master bedroom, no coat hangers downstairs, bedsides useless as the lamps were too big. The cottage did have nice sea view and near to the beach but the owner did not pay much care for the house itself nor for her paying guests. The rate is not cheap, hence didn't meet the standard. If these aforementioned issues are fixed, the house could be nice, but be aware of the appalling customer service if something goes wrong.

We write accurate descriptions, check our houses every year and if there is a house that has received complaints we also follow up with a visit. Which we did on this occasion. This is to ensure we can fully understand the concerns that have been raised, and therefore decide what action should be taken. In this case we feel we have dealt with any valid issues correctly and professionally. Choosing a house is not easy and if you call us we are here to help, sometimes just picking one from a web site when you have no knowledge of the area is not straightforward. Try as we might, we cannot please all of the people all of the time. I am sorry to read your complaint but we have done our level best and will take all of you points on board for the future.
