The property

An inviting, whitewashed holiday home, sitting conveniently next to the owner's home in Shropshire, Bryn Celyn promises to be the perfect family holiday base at any time of year.

Resting within the village of Trefonen, the cottage is wonderfully placed for exploring both England and North Wales, with a wide range of wonders all within driving distance.

Park up on the off-road gravelled area and make your way inside to begin your relaxing retreat; gather together within the spacious sitting room and light up the open fire, the stripey selection of furniture making the perfect spot to spend time with loved ones, or choose to recline into your evening in the snug, boasting a woodburning stove and a good selection of books, it makes the ultimate escape for some quiet time to yourself.

Move through into the amply-equipped kitchen/diner, offering a farmhouse feel, here you can sit together to enjoy a homemade meal around the table, or sit out and dine alfresco on the private patio while your canine companions can play freely on the enclosed lawn.

The ground floor is also home to a utility boasting every essential, as well as a sparkling shower room, while moving up to the first floor you can find the impressive family bathroom, giving you lots of space to prepare for your action-packed day.

The first floor continues the quirky character of the cottage, with five well-presented bedrooms, you can take your pick from a double with both a shower and a basin in the room, a double with a TV, two further doubles and a bunk bed room, each offering its own unique style and ample storage space for your personal belongings.

There's so much natural wonder to explore within the local area, with Trefonen resting between the English border town of Oswestry and the Welsh village of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, home to the UK's highest single drop waterfall, Pistyll Rhaeadr, it makes a fantastic touring base.

The village itself offers both a local shop and pub, as well as the Offa's Dyke Pathway running through the village letting you experience the beauty of the area up close on either a walk or cycle.

Oswestry boasts a wider selection of amenities, with a plethora of restaurants to take your pick from for a special occasion, as well as the wonders of the Oswestry Town Museum and Cambrian Railway Museum, welcoming indoor markets, and an all-around charming atmosphere.

Venture into Wales and discover the beauty of Lake Vyrnwy, sitting amongst the Berwyn Mountains, there's plenty of scenery and bird life to discover, as well as providing easy access into Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park for a more challenging ramble.

Enjoy a day in Shrewsbury or Chester with their wealth of historic attractions and shopping experiences, or simply soak in the beauty of your surroundings from your welcoming holiday base, Bryn Celyn.

TREFONEN

Oswestry 3.5 miles; Llanhaeadr-ym-Mochnant 8 miles; Shrewsbury 24 miles.

Trefonen is a rural village which stands between the ancient English border town of Oswestry and the Welsh village of Llanhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, home to Pistyll Rhaeadr, the UK’s highest single drop waterfall. This traditional village boasts a pub, shop and has Offa's Dyke pathway running through the village. It is located close to where the successful 1995 film “The Englishman Who Went up a Hill but Came Down a Mountain” was filmed. The whole area is surrounded by lovely countryside, which extends into the Berwyn Mountain Range - perfect for wonderful scenic walks and cycle trails, including along the Berwyn Ridge Pathway, the Offa’s Dyke Path and through the beautiful Tanat and Ceiriog Valleys. Visit the riverside town of Llangollen with the nearby Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (a World Heritage Site), Chirk and Powis Castles and Gardens, Erddig and Attingham Park, or visit the nearby market town of Ellesmere. Further afield lies the Welsh mountains and coast and picturesque Lakes Vyrnwy and Bala, while the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, medieval Shrewsbury and the Roman city of Chester are also within driving distance. Trefonen is an ideal base for exploring Mid Wales, Shropshire and beyond.
