The fact it's kept the decor and style of the castle we absolutely love. It's such a wonderful stay - thank you!

  • "Our group of nine college friends enjoyed our stay at Preston Tower."

It’s a beautiful old castle with lovely grounds. The common areas were spacious, and the bedrooms were well appointed and comfortable. One bedroom, though, is adjacent to the hot water heater, which was very loud and would come on whenever anyone opened a hot water tap. We were disappointed that the toilet in the bathroom with the tub was not in working order for the duration of our 5 night stay, as the parties in the two closest bedrooms were required to ascend/descend a lot of stairs to access a working toilet. We should have at least been informed, and, ideally, compensated. Also, the sink near the entry on the ground floor had only cold running water, and the uppermost bathroom water supply would intermittently disappear.

Many thanks for your feedback. we are sorry you were inconvenienced. Please do not hesitate in future to report any issues with the team at the property immediately as we will always try to get an issues resolved asap if we know about it. Property Owner

). Fabulous property with excellent amenities. We had a problem with one bathroom and a toilet on the first morning but a plumber was sent out quickly and was able to fix the bathroom issue by the time we had returned in the evening. A very comfortable and enjoyable stay overall.

  • "Wow, this property has to be seen to be believed."

The winding staircase leading up to each floor, 80 steps in total really did set the scene. ( we would not recommend for those with mobility issues - very hard on the knees) Each room was spacious and impressive, we all felt like kings of the castle. The castle was very clean, with plenty of crockery, pans etc for our party of 10. The bedrooms were all a very good size with beds comfy. The grounds were exceptional.and we could have spent all week exploring our surroundings. We had an issue with one of the toilets, but very understandable for the age of the property- the issue was sorted the same day by the staff on site. With this booking we received a free tour around the rest of the castle. A big shout out to all the volunteers especially Sheila who was very engaging and informative and certainly gave us a lot of her time. We would definitely recommend Preston Towers and would love to return in the future.

  • "Superb! There were 12 of us, 6 children from 18 months to 7 years."

My mum, 77 and my son and daughter and families. Loads of room.Spotlessly clean. Extremely comfortable. The kitchen didn’t look big enough on photos but there was plenty of room and every appliance you could need. Loads of stairs but steady. We loved it. Myself and 2 grandchildren slept on the top floor. They loved the turrets. Plenty of bathrooms and toilets with one bathroom 2 shower rooms and a further 3 cloakrooms. So much history of the people who lived in the castle. We had a tour of the castle, even though it’s closed through these months. We had the grounds to ourselves. Best part of all, it snowed the day we arrived and stayed until the day before we left. Absolutely fantastic. Could not have asked for more. Snow people made. Sledging. And a part of igloo made. 100% recommend. Only one issue and wasn’t a problem to us, there is no signal for tv. Maybe that could have been solved if we had asked. National Trust Scotland are a treasure ❤️

  • "11 of us, and 1 furry friend, spent Christmas week staying in the Preston Tower at Fyvie Castle."

It was magical in the snow, and after storm Gerrit we had the whole place to ourselves after the grounds were closed to the public - we really did feel like Kings and Queens of the castle then! The living and dining rooms were especially Christmassey with a decorated tree and 'presents' underneath. The dining room table was beautifully laid with Christmas centre pieces, table cloth, tartan runner and even crackers! The only disappointment was the size of the tv - for a living room that size, and the amount of people the accommodation caters for, it's baffling why there is only a 32in tv - and not even a Smart tv so we could login into our Netflix, Disney, Prime etc accouns. It was a shame that the castle itself was closed during our stay as we would have loved to have seen the inside - but on the plus side, this meant that there were less people about. Definitely a holiday we will all remember for years to come.

  • "Thank you so much for our lovely holiday."

The castle is so welcoming, and the high, beautifully decorated, ceilings seem to give us all the space to let our thoughts and worries float up and away. I think there were new carpets in a few rooms too which made it even more luxurious, and I have to say I love the feeling of vintage lino under foot. The exquisite kitchen oak joinery drew a lot of attention from my family -- the whole thing was just luxury and delight. Amazingly well furnished, and equipped. Being able to slip out to the walled garden was a complete delight. Saw two red squirrels! And thanks to the kind staff for helping in our hour of need when we ran out of milk on the last day. The whole thing was finished off by a Morris Minor rally in the grounds which is my family's favourite car (though they should have wrestled the microphone off the bloke on the tannoy an hour or two earlier!)... a great holiday, and thank you very much, as all your hard work really does show. I know how much effort it takes to clean a one bed house -- I just cannot fathom how you get an actual castle to sparkle like you do -- the cleanliness was astounding. Oh, and the beds with their crisp linen. Just an all-round WOW. I hope we'll be back!

  • "Had the most wonderful stay in the last week of August."

We met many of the volunteers and staff and they were so hospitable. A special mention to the charming Bob Ray, who we met several times during the week, a true gentleman and overwhelmingly knowledgable - he also treated us to a very memorable tour of Fyvie Castle. Preston Tower itself is beautiful, with many grand bedrooms, spiral steps, a dining room to seat 12 and a very comfortable lounge/snug/study. The cleanliness was second to none, which was made all the more impressive given how spacious the Tower was. We had a wonderful week and feel very fortunate to have stayed here at Fyvie Castle - many thanks!

  • "We had a lovely stay at Preston Tower."

Almost everything was perfect, except according to the descrpition there should have been 3 double and 3 twin rooms. However it turned out that there were 4 doubles and 2 twins. This meant the sleeping arrangements had to be re-thought and was not ideal. So your listing needs updating. (Also, the cellar mentioned in the listing is locked and inaccessible). The room I was in contained a locked cupboard containing what I think was the pump for the water supply. Every time a tap was turned on it made a very loud sound which woke me up on many occasions. Despite the things I have mentioned we thoroughly enjoyed our time in such an historic building.

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry that you found the bed configuration to be different to the advertised setup. We have zip and link beds that could have been separated for you if we had known that you required the bed as a twin. We are looking at how the bed setup is communicated to us from Sykes for each booking. We are sorry about the disturbance you had from the water pump, with an old building we are often confined in what we can offer and where we can site it in a listed building. Property Owner

  • "Like living in a fairytale!"

All it needed was the pea and twenty mattresses! (Although there are enough for 16!) What a wonderful week we had in this incredible castle, where we stayed for a belated milestone birthday celebration. And how lucky were we to have the whole week in gorgeous snow! We never left the castle grounds and surrounding estate for the whole week, with long snowy walks each day with our dog, returning to the ambience of the castle where we could relax and unwind in complete peace and quiet (and enjoy games of hide and seek haha). The rooms are large and filled with oil paintings (loved the shutters!) and the bedrooms are sumptuous with extremely comfortable beds. The freestanding bath is enormous and unlike some large baths fills extremely quickly! The kitchen is well equipped and the cooker doesn’t need a degree in physics to work it out! It was a real privilege to stay somewhere so special and having only visited Fyvie Castle in summer before, lovely to see in all its wintry beauty.
