  • "We had a great week at May Bell cottage, it is comfortable and has everything you need and also very well decorated."

We could fault it once we had sussed how to put the hot water on. There is lots to do. One of the places we enjoy was Langham Glass on Fakenham where we they show how they blow glass and then you can have a go yourself. We also fed the seal at the sealife centre.

  • "We enjoyed a lovely week at the May Bell Cottage."

The cottage is in a great location to explore West Norfolk and during our week we enjoyed trips to Snettisham Farm, Sandringham, Holkham, Wells, Kings Lynn and Hunstanton. The village is lovely and quiet, Sugar Lane and the recreation ground are near and perfect for dog walks. The village also has a Coop and Spar within walking distance. For eating out the Feathers in Dersingham was amazing so we went back on our final night. We also liked the Railway Inn in Docking. Avoid the Queen Victoria in Snettisham though! The cottage itself had everything we needed, it was stocked up with all the kitchen and bathroom essentials and the welcome hamper was a lovely addition. The Wi-Fi was great and the TV in the lounge had all the channels including BBC iPlayer, Netflix etc. We brought our own Amazon Firestick and it wasn’t needed. We found the cottage perfect in every way although the floors could have done with a more thorough clean before our arrival as our white socks were not very white! This is a place we will definitely consider booking again for one of our next Norfolk holidays. Thank you.

Hi glad you had a lovely trip & enjoyed your stay…really sorry you felt the floors were not clean. I clean the property myself & all floors were cleaned & mopped so have no explanation why your socks were not white…but apologies for this…we are glad everything else was okay for you & your family…many thanks. • "We were absolutely delighted with both the ‘cottage’ and its site."

Everything had been thought of regarding comfort and convenience! Welcome packs of goodies for both ourselves and our dogs had been left (to include a bottle of Prosecco for us) and there was information regarding local amenities and places to visit. The village is on the edge of Sandringham Estate with a pub called The Feathers nearby. We had dinner there, which was very good, and dogs are allowed. We missed having a small garden to just let the dogs out - but there are plenty of nice walks nearby: other dog walkers were very friendly! Do visit May Cottage - it really is a home-from-home! We hope to return next year

Thank you for your kind comments & was lovely to meet you all yesterday. Im glad you all enjoyed your stay & everything norfolk has to offer… so many things to do & eat.. we only have the small courtyard at property.. more for sitting & enjoying a bit of afternoon sunshine, we are restricted by what fence/ gates we can put up but as you say enough lovely walks around for doggies & their humans … we would love to welcome you again. You think it is going to be small when you arrive at the door but as soon as you go inside, the space just opens up before you. The quality of the fittings and decor are excellent and we enjoyed a very comfortable and relaxing stay for our 40th wedding anniversary. There was even a bottle of bubbly and biscuits for us, and a selection of treats for our dog waiting for us on our arrival. Thank you Anne and Richard, it was very much appreciated. The kitchen is equipped with almost everything you could need, the bed was very comfortable and the shower was fantastic. We liked the community feel to the village of Dersingham, and the many easy dog walks that were available direct from the cottage suited us very well. We will certainly look to return here again when we next visit Norfolk.

  • "When we first entered the cottage we said how lovely it looked, parking is in a gravelled shared car park just outside the cottage."

On the first evening when a member of our family was waiting at the car for us to go out they was told by the neighbour not to let our dogs do any business in the courtyard, which they never did, but how do you tell a dog that they have to hold it till we get onto the roadside. The single bed mattresses wasn’t very good, you could feel springs so not a good sleep, I feel that the main bedroom could’ve been better as well, nothing matched, the bedding was awful, new duvets and pillows are a must, we couldn’t open the windows either to let fresh air in. When looking around the cottage we also noticed so many cobwebs. A little more attention to detail is needed for me to rate this cottage any higher

Thank you for staying at may bell.we are sorry the property did not meet with your standards. The property is over 400 years old and is a listed building, the windows are all fully working sash windows with sash fasteners, that you unscrew to then slide down the top sash. The bedding sets all match and the set in the main bedroom is new and of high quality, we are sorry these were not to your taste. The single mattresses are the same as the king size in the main bedroom, but i will check to see if any springs are prominent. I clean the property myself and will take the comment about the cobwebs constructively as on occasions the odd thing can be missed, but as you can see by previous reviews usually we rate very highly for cleanness . The comment from the neighbours is beyond our control, we wouldn’t ask that of any dog, as responsible dog owners ourselves, we understand dog's can do their business at the most inopportune moments, but as long we pick up after our pets there is no issue, maybe they have had an experience in the court yard where owners are not so considerate, with it being a shared courtyard, the residents take pride in keeping their surroundings clean and tidy. We hope your stay in the area overall was enjoyable & thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Property Owner

Cleanliness, facilities, equipment and utensils were all excellent and a lot of thought had clearly gone into making the guests' stay as enjoyable and trouble-free as possible. The standard of the renovation that had been carried out at the property was superb - well beyond that you might expect - and all aspects of our stay were catered for. Finally, the welcome pack was a lovely surprise. It didn't have to be provided, but the fact that it was and that it included so many items, was further evidence of the care that the owners of the property have taken to ensure that their guest's holidays should be as comfortable and memorable as they could make them.

Really nicely appointed and plenty of room. We took a small Christmas tree with us so that we could have one for our daughter but did not need to as the owners had decorated the house and put up a tree which was a lovely touch. There was a lovely welcome box which included some nice things and in particular, some treats for our dog which we thought was a really great touch. There are plenty of instructions where needed and also recommendations etc. In terms of the location of the cottage, it is brilliant if you are looking to be close to the coast and to Sandringham.
