The property

Salthouse 0.6 miles.

Overlooking the Cley Marshes Nature Bird Reserve on the Norfolk coast, on the outskirts of Cley-next-the-Sea is this terraced cottage, once two fisherman's cottages, now made into one delightful holiday home perfect for hosting an active family holiday.

Take in the vast views of the marshes, home to plentiful wildlife, before turning round, parking your car off road, a unique feature in this location and heading inside the property.

Enter the compact living/dining room after taking off coats and boots in the porch, a welcome sight of a plush sofa and a woodburning stove set within a lovely wood fireplace awaits you in this rustic room, with exposed wooden beams in the walls showing the property’s age.

Shooting off from this room is the country kitchen which, although compact, holds all you need to cater for the group as well as those fabulous extras like a dishwasher and a washing machine to make your stay even better, with views out over the marshes from this room.

From the lounge, move into a delightful snug room where you have a small desk and some plush chairs, with books lined up on a bookcase which has been tucked into the fireplace; you can cosy up in this room on a rainy day and get lost in a book.

When it’s time to catch some rest, head up the winding staircase to the bedrooms, firstly coming to the bunk room holding two 2’6” bunks, then leading from here into the double room, making a perfect setup for a family, all decorated in bright white and light colours creating a calming and relaxing ambiance.

Next door is the master double room holding slightly more space and featuring beautiful antique furniture and storage as well as built-in wardrobes.

Access the second bunk room from the master bedroom, stepping under the wooden beams and entering to find the two bunks, but thankfully you can also access this room from the wooden staircase from the snug.

Both floors benefit from a bathroom with quality fittings, the upstairs bathroom also has a small bath with shower over the bath.

Head out of the stable doors from the kitchen into the garden and enjoy the outdoors on a sunny day in this lovely landscaped garden, with a scented garden boasting rosemary, lavender, sage, and thyme.

Sit at the seating on the raised patio and take in the rays, while the young ones can enjoy a kick-about on the patch of astro-turf.

Pull on your walking boots and delight in exploring this amazing area, walk along the pebble and shingle beaches, climb up Salthouse Heath for the incredibly stunning views, visit one of the many surrounding nature reserves to see animals in their natural habitat or stop in the famous Cley Smokehouse.

The local area is simply an incredible spot for birdwatching, with many fascinating birds to be seen from sites such as Teal Bird Hide, North Pool, Bishop Hide, Cley Marshes Visitors Centre, Salthouse Marshes, the Hawk and Owl Trust, and the National Trust - Blakeney National Nature Reserve.

For those who don't have access to a car, outside of the cottage is a bus stop where the buses run regularly all the way along the coast.

Don't miss the chance to catch a boat from Blakeney to see the huge seal colonies were 2000 seal pups are born annually, it's a magnificent sight.

Beach Cottage is a charming base for wildlife enthusiasts looking for a getaway to the beautiful coast of Norfolk.
