Lovely cottage perfectly positioned in the village - the only thing I wish it had is an upstairs toilet - other than that it was perfect and would recommend

  • "We appreciated the comfortable beds and lounge seating and good standard of the kitchen and bathroom fittings."

Very cosy with efficient heating and hot water plus the option of an open fire. Cooker has no grill. Good quiet location within Heacham village in a beautiful area. Although parking is on street we never had a problem parking in front of the cottage just a few steps from the front door plus the road is not busy. The back garden was pleasant and well enclosed, so ideal for our dog. We were surprised that adjoining houses appear to have access through side gates in the back garden which are used and could allow an ambitious dog to escape. Not a problem to us though, and overall the cottage was very good.

  • "The cottage was ideal for our family holiday, including a toddler and 2 dogs."

Very cosy and comfortable and excellently located, the duck pond, pub, children’s park and beach are easily walkable. The well kept garden was enclosed, as advertised, so we could relax. We would definitely consider returning again - it suited us as the cottage is “lived in”. The kitchen is very well equipped, with the bonus of sharp knives and peelers. Just a couple of pointers - the cottage could have been cleaner when we arrived. Our toddler found several clumps/ balls of dog hairs in the living room, mainly under the sofas/chairs and the bathroom was also still a little grubby. As there is only one bathroom and the property can sleep up to 6, we felt the shower could he upgraded, the pressure in particular is poor. Overall we’ve had a really wonderful time on our first visit to this part of the country.

  • "Over priced."

Parking is an issue, especially if you have a large car! The shower is adequate but not amazing. Some comfortable garden furniture would be good. Ok for two but I would imagine a bit small for six people and a dog! However we did enjoy our stay. It was a good base for getting around , the beds were comfortable and the cottage is well maintained.

The house was great, the beds comfy and the enclosed back garden was perfect for our dog. The stairs were a little steep, we managed but it’s worth mentioning as it could be an issue to those less able. The location of the cottage is well placed for exploring many of the Norfolk beaches and close to amenities. A definite home away from home.

  • "This is the second stay we have had Carrstone cottage and it was very nice to see all the improvements made to the bathroom , it looked lovely."

The cottage was a delight and perfect for our walking holiday in Norfolk with our German Shepherd. The laminate and tile floors make it a perfect place to stay with a dog as there isn’t a fear of muddy footprints in the carpet, hard to avoid in all the wet weather recently, and easy to clean up with a quick wash through with the mop. The cakes were a nice touch and the cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived and continued to be that way throughout our stay. A thoroughly nice stay and we hope to return again later in the year. Thank You.

Nice cottage in a good location - very handy the Lidl at the end of the road Cottage clean and tidy - was a little worried when we saw the hot water bottle each! Few small maintenance issues which we could see in the maintenance book had not been resolved adequately, and were still an issue Shame the cottage was so cold on arrival, however, did not take long to heat up - all radiators were set to zero. Would’ve liked a basic guide on the dishwasher/oven/boiler + heating - even if this was the owner’s words on how best to use these. Back bedroom the coldest and also the bathroom.

The beds with the feather pillows were very comfortable and we had the best nights sleep for ages, it’s so peaceful and quiet. The stairs are quite steep which was ok for us but might not be so good for very elderly or very young guests. We had a wonderful week in a lovely cottage in a great location.

Our two cockers loved the garden & was ideal to walk them to the beach from there. A pub is nearly on the doorstep & was great for some real pub grub but best to book in first, there's some takeaway's not to far away either. Thank you owners of carrstone & Sykes' for letting us rent a fantastic cottage.

  • "Carrstone Cottage provided the perfect characterful, cosy setting for our small family Christmas celebrations."

The pretty cottage has been thoughtfully renovated to create wonderfully peaceful spaces and we really appreciated all the little details like torches hanging on every door, the wonderful welcome pack tailored to the season which included a large tin of quality street and bottle of mulled wine. The Christmas tree and other decorations were just lovely ! We loved having an open fire, and there was a generous amount of logs, kindling and fire lighters. Fantastic walks in the area of course, we enjoyed a leisurely Christmas Eve stroll along the beach from Heacham, amazing bird life to see and lovely sunset. Stunning iconic stripey cliffs at Hunstanton and we spent a few blissful hours exploring the rock pools and rock formations below, returning back into town over the cliff top via the cafe. At Norfolk Lavender virtually on the doorstep, there’s an excellent cafe, cavernous gift shop and separate farm shop selling a vast array of fresh local produce and deli items. Also local handy supermarket. Thank you for a wonderfully memorable stay, hope to return.

The toilet looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned for weeks until I had a go at it. Beds & towels were fine. Kitchen had everything we needed - one thing to feedback was that it would have been nice to have a couple more wine glasses, there was plenty of glassware but very few wineglasses specifically. Very comfortable, great location and had everything we needed. Only downside was we didn’t sleep well as the pillows were rock hard. • "I appreciate the impact COVID has had but there were none of the little touches that I would have expected of a cottage at this price range - for example, no welcome pack such as milk/wine/biscuits that have been left in other similar stays."

The towels were “tired” and little things such as just 1 dishwasher tablet was provided, about half a cm of washing up liquid and hand soap and no dishcloth - I have come to expect that at the price we paid, these little touches would be included. The property itself was lovely - as described. However, the blind in one bedroom had broken and had to be tied up to keep open; the bathroom blind did not open properly and also had to be tied up; there was an electric hedge trimmer left on the garden bench and we had no access to the garage or anywhere else to store it safely from children.

Very helpful and friendly housekeeper. Great long garden with very nice areas for sitting out and eating/drinking. Beds were very comfortable and the wifi worked perfectly. A great location for exploring this part of Norfolk and nice to be away from the crowds at Hunstanton. The walk to the beach with our dog was not too far and the ability to collect pre-ordered food from Sainsbury's at Hunstanton was great with the shop in the village and the co-op in Snettisham both being good for essentials and extras. The local RSPB reserves were great places to visit and Houghton Hall had the Anish Kapoor exhibition on which was great to see. We would love to return to Carrsone Cottage.

The location was excellent for accessing Heacham beach and the various lovely beaches of the North Norfolk coast and other attractions. The cottage itself exceeded expectations: it was very comfortable and well-equipped and the garden was a real bonus with a dog and young grandchildren. The cottage had been cleaned scrupulously for our arrival and the owners and cleaner had obviously considered the details that make a holiday property feel like a home. The garden was well stocked and very well maintained and relaxing to sit out. There is a pub within a few minutes walk that offers food too which saves on cooking. Parking is on the main road outside the house and we always managed to get parked.
