  • "Lovely cottage."

Looked bigger on the website photos, but actually more than enough space for 4 of us! Buckets, spades and beach games in garden hamper are a nice touch. The wood burner in the lounge laid ready for lighting, but weather too mild to light it! Lovely place, would highly recommend. Very dark village though, a dearth of streetlights

We will definitely endeavour to stay there again. Unfortunately due to the Coronavirus situation all the local attractions were closed by the time we arrived. We picked up on some local hostility towards visitors due to the health situation and, with respect to the concerns of the local community and the prospect of an imminent national lockdown, we cut our holiday short after only two days. In the event the PM announced restrictions on movement and non essential travel within 24 hours of our arriving home. A little support and advice from Sykes with respect to whether to travel at all and possible refunds (there were none) would have been most appreciated in these difficult times.

The main street down to The Drift was closed off for three days. Luckily the company doing the work left a map of the roads around the Drift otherwise we would have been struggling to find a way in and out of the road. I don't think it was anyone's fault particularly but it would have been helpful if the cottage's owners had warned us beforehand: we might have changed the dates to make life easier for us ( I am coming up to 80 and unforeseen events aren't as easy to manage as they once were.) Apart from that the cottage was warm, well-equipped and well-maintained but I would prefer a cottage with a bit more space around it and a bit more of a parking area - no way could you fit 2 cars in front of the house.

This thoroughly lovely cottage manages to be both modern and cosy and was an ideal winter getaway. Beautifully decorated and furnished, with lots of comfy cushions and cosy blankets. Which, weren't really needed as the heating was fantastic, not to mention the lovely log burner. We visited the week before Christmas and arriving to find the cottage decorated with a tree, lights and little other festive touches made it really special. A pub with a micro brewery round the corner, fantastic farm shop at Norfolk Lavender (and butchers in the village) plus other great pubs nearby with a range of food and local ales on offer, meant we were spoiled for choice between eating in and going out. We did several walks - one from the house itself (to Hunstanton along the beach and on to Holme next the sea). The coastal hopper bus is very useful. If you have children, you'll love the selection of board games and mini table football. The 4-player connect 4 was good fun, even for two people!
