  • "We all had the most amazing time, from the min we opened the door & saw how clean & spacious it was then to see the huge bed which looks brand new, was brilliant."

Absolutely everything you could want it provided. ( I always take fairy lights to light up garden to see where dogs ‘go’ but these weren’t needed as there’s 2 lots of outside lights )We stay in cottages a lot with our dogs & this is one of the best. The weather was wonderful too ( again we always pack for the worst weather but big coats weren’t needed ) The beaches are walkable however a cut through across the road then through the cemetery leads to a decent size Tesco with friendly staff & a bus stop so you can get one to Old Hunstanton which is fab with Le Strange arms hotel / bar that do a brill 2 courses for £15 , have to sit outside with dogs is only downside but again staff were brill & made sure our plates were really hot. You can then walk through to the most stunning beach & it goes on for miles & miles. I saw a few negative comments re the grass not being cut, I’d say , have a look in the little shed & do it if it bothers you that much, (we stay in cottages because it’s like being at home as opposed to a hotel , & things always need doing in a home ) Also we never saw any rats & our 2 dogs would have searched them out ! I wish I could post photos as we were lucky enough to see the northern lights & of course the wonderful red cliffs . A final mention to Lou who was brill, a welcome message to say it was ready early was great & she was available for any help . Literally can’t wait to come to come back ( love Hunstanton if you couldn’t tell ! )

We were extremely happy with queen bed and kitchen fixtures, and corner settee, close to Tesco for all our needs. Only consideration is kitchen blinds are rather dirty/dusty, otherwise a totally delightful stay and would 100% recommend to anyone visiting the area.

So glad you enjoyed your stay at Honeybees Haven and that it provided you with a comfortable base for your holiday. Thank you for the prompt regarding the kitchen blinds which have been duly dusted. We do hope to welcome you again. Kind regards HH Property Owner

We had a great stay here. The property was well stocked with everything we needed. Board games and maps especially welcome. Lovely wild garden at its best in August was joyful. Took us a while to get used to the sound of the gulls pacing on the roof. We had amazing weather and loved exploring the different coastal areas from this base.

Thank you for your fabulous review which is so appreciated as we aim to provide a peaceful home from home. Glad you found it so and enjoyed the wonderful surroundings in Hunstanton and beyond. Kind regards Property Owner

  • "Great cottage, near to the town, beach and all the surrounding facilities."

The cottage has all you need and it was nice that milk , tea bags etc welcomed us. The only drawback was that one bed in the double room was impossible to sleep on as it was so lumpy, a new mattress is definitely needed. Also the grass in the garden is very overgrown so it’s hard to pick up the dog’s poo. Saying that we would definitely return there.

So pleased that you had a fabulous time at Honeybees Haven. Thank you for alerting us to the mattress which we will be changing as comfort is so important. Our gardener does his best to keep up with the cutting regime for the grass this Summer but acknowledge it’s difficult with dog care for you. We welcome you back next year, kind regards! • "This property is in need of complete revamp, it's general state is that of complete neglect."

I read many of the reviews by other guests and we must have stayed in a different place, or our expectations and standards are much higher than that given by this property. The sofas are tired and need replacing, why have winceyette sheets on the bed in summertime?, bathroom plug broken, don't push it down too hard or it will get stuck. Mold in the main bedroom wardrobe, no extractor in the kitchen, no grill pan, tired non stick frypans. Worst of all was the back garden which we could not use, the grass had not been cut for weeks and the overflowing compost bin attracted RATS, yes RATS were seen in the back garden so we band our dog and ourselves from going outside just as well as we would have needed a machete to get the the green mold covered table and chairs. Sykes should delist this property until improvements are made.

Your comments absolutely do not reflect our cottage and so I am naturally disappointed. A grass cut was offered after you contacted our wonderful property manager. No mention was made of other issues that could have improved your stay. We have had the garden and compost area thoroughly checked and can find no sign of rodents. The wardrobe has been checked and has been found to be free of any issue, the bathroom plug will also be checked. We appreciate that sofas can be personal preference and subjective. We will replace any frying pan etc that is required. We would have assisted immediately with any help you required if we had been made aware at the time and we are sorry we were not given the opportunity to do so. Property Owner

Good quality furnishings towels, bedding through-out. We were very comfortable with all, though the bath/shower and screen a bit of a squeeze and we are both slim. Huge dining room and the main and second bedroom have good rear garden view. Kitchen well stocked. If you seek a bungalow at reasonable price as we did for our older dog it works well a park walk within 10 minutes.

So glad you had a wonderful stay with us. Thank you for the useful feedback.Sorry a starter fire pack wasn’t left. Only couple of minor quibbles, as raised by other reviewers the sofa is very low and can be an issue if used by someone with limited mobility and at this time of year it would make sense to either have hard flooring or a runner in the bedroom to stop the muddy paw prints on the cream carpet

Such as comfortable well equipped bungalow. We had very specific requirements for our stay. Our 16 year old dog is virtually blind with poor mobility and can easily get distressed in a different home. The open plan layout with no stairs was perfect for him and he settled in right away. In addition, our young dog is very reactive, so the secure private garden in a quiet cul-de-sac was perfect for him. As we were unable to eat out (due to our high maintenance fur babies!), the combined kitchen/living area was perfect for preparing meals. Easy walk to town and beach, we will definitely be back!

My only comment would be that is could do with a more thorough deep clean, the bathroom fell particularly grubby, crumbs on dining room chairs, and smarties/ dog chews under sofa. There was also cigarette ends and dog poo on grass from previous people which we picked up. We would recommend to others and stay here again as overall it was very comfortable and suitable for us. Great communication from Lou telling us the property was ready and we looked after the nesting duck in the garden!

Last year I had the twin room and it has no storage ,I didn’t unpack, could do with a bed taking out making it a single room with a wardrobe , chest of drawers and bedside table putting in like the other single room, this year I stayed in the single room and whilst I did unpack my bag using the drawers in the room the lovely big cupboard in the room has no rail so couldn’t hang anything up, it needs a rail. And the last improvement would be converting half the masssive cleaning room into a toilet, Because of the above things we are not returning to honeybees haven next year as we are going away for a week and need a property with a better sofa, BUT however would stay again for a short stay.

Thank you for your feedback which is duly noted. There is under bed storage in the twin room and a triple wardrobe in the king room for adequate storage. The storage room is not massive and the cottage is not of a size to need more toilets facilities. The comfortable sectional sofa is standard height and so this doesn’t require replacing in our opinion. There are wooden utensils to use which will not scratch the pans. We accommodated an early check in and late exit at no extra cost to you and so am disappointed your stay didn’t live up to your requirements. Kind regards Property Owner

I'd really recommend each let under under the Sykes banner an affiliation with a 24hr locksmith. It was a very warm bungalow & sun trap. Suggest a couple of portable fans. Overall we will give it a 9 out of 10. It would've been a 10 out of 10 if it would've been for how we were treat key incident.

  • "Lovely bungalow on a residential street."

Wonderfully comfortable beds and bedding, great kitchen and fabulous sofa. Really liked the open plan living and dining area. We had a few interactions with the local duck and her ducklings, she got stuck between the bungalow and the fence so my Dad had to move some old fence panels that were in the gap and were stopping her escaping. Unfortunately a couple of negative comments. I wouldn't usually say anything but as a family we felt it significant. The bathroom really needs some attention, thick dust on the back of the doors & skirting boards and limescale on both sets of taps. The storage for clothes is frustrating, why is there a wardrobe in the single room but no clothes rail inside? The twin room only has under bed drawers. The double room is huge, with fabulous storage but we were 2 households so I didn't want to use that wardrobe in someone else's room. The garden really needs tidying, the grass hadn't been cut for a while and that made it hard to do a pick up after the dog. There were alot of weeds and it just made using the garden less welcoming. For someone with mobility issues, navigating these was just a little awkward. The next door bungalow, which initially we thought was being refurbished, really is a sight for sore eyes and let down the whole relaxed feel you want from a holiday let. When the temperature gets higher I would imagine the unpleasant odour will get worse. It does look like some of the decorating hasn't been completed, for instance there are nails in walls but no pictures. Be aware, if taking a dog, that access to the garden is through the double bedroom. We had a pleasant week but I'm afraid we wouldn't go back.

Apparently it was kept unkempt to encourage the bees and insects, but it made it not a place that was inviting and not user friendly, the lawn was long and lumpy and by the end of the week the grass had grown seed heads, a health hazard for hay fever sufferers. There is a variety of extra lighter bedding in the utility area for you use but a 4.5g tog is now specifically available for the Summer months. The seating is standard height but note your issues for mobility and will look to provide higher seating in the form of arm chairs. We appreciate your time raising these issues for us to improve the comfort at Honeybees Haven. Property Owner

About the location

HUNSTANTON

King's Lynn 16.5 miles.

The award-winning coastal town of Hunstanton, locally known as Sunny Hunny, is located on the Western side of the East Norfolk Coastline, renowned for its beautiful sunsets over the sea. Hunstanton is a great family-friendly holiday destination. The seafront with promenade offers rock and candyfloss stalls, funfair rides, a sealife sanctuary, bowls, golfing, a leisure centre, pitch-and-putt, Esplanade gardens, theatre, clean sandy beaches, donkey rides and sea tours in an amphibious craft. On Sunday afternoons a band often plays in the bandstand on the green overlooking the beach, serenading sunbathers and day-trippers, while throughout the year additional events are held within the town. Walking along the beach towards Old Hunstanton you find the richly-coloured cliff faces with intriguing rock pools. The beach at Old Hunstanton is popular with sunbathers, and also with wind and kite surfers. Within a 20-mile radius there is a large number of places of interest including NT properties, market towns and flint villages, offering something for all family members.
