  • "We thought it was unusual that there was no welcome pack."

Luckily we stopped for some milk. All the cottages we have stayed in have always left milk, tea, coffee often bread or biscuits.

There has been no welcome pack since Covid and is ongoing due to same for our guests safety . Apologies for any inconvenience When clients ring beforehand regarding the key I always say to bring milk for a cuppa on arrival . Clearly I did not on this occasion and again apologise for my error It is good that you had the foresight to bring milk . Alls well that ends well ,thanks for your input Property Owner

  • "Has everything you need."

Comfortable furniture. Advertisement doesn’t show that the cottage is actually above someone’s garage. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone looking for a private location as owners are right next door and you can see into each other’s accommodation. The notes and instructions are excessive. Presumably the wifi is the owners home wifi, the signal is very weak and can not be reached upstairs.

Depends how one looks at the photo of SQUIRRELS DREY but it does clearly show the garage door , meaning that the large bedroom is in fact half over the garage. However we go to great lengths to not disturb our guests taking our car in or out at an early or late time . The upstairs bathroom is not over the garage The spacious lounge and kitchen area is on the ground floor It can be noted that guests can in fact see into our rear garden through the vellux windows but we cannot see into the cottage as we are in a bungalow .All windows facing towards the cottage have the curtains permanently closed to ensure guests privacy The Wifi is not 100% since switching to Vodaphone but, we are pleased reception was adequate in the lounge .If inconvenienced in any way we sincerely apologise Property Owner

It was very quiet, warm and comfy, and in a good location to visit places in North Norfolk. The cottage was well equipped with a good bed and sofa. The only slight problem was the absence of Wi-Fi. I did talk to Terry (the owner) who said that he had tried to resolve it, but as the router is based in his home (adjacent to the cottage), this is probably why.

Hi , it is disappointing when guests are needing good Wi fi for the duration of their stay but , nothing to do with the router being in our bungalow Our previous provider BT gave our guests no reason for complaint Our current provider Vodafone do not score so highly ( even next to the router) It’s being sorted and our guest’s understanding is both welcome and appreciated Best regards Terry and Marie Property Owner

  • "I enjoyed my stay here and the cottage is very comfortable and spacious for 2 situated and situated next door to the owners property."

The only negative is that the wifi is unusable with no signal upstairs and a weak signal downstairs, I suspect in part that this is because the router is in the owner's property.

The cottage is clean airy and spotlessly clean with modern facilities and the best bedroom we've stayed in. It really is as good as it looks in the photographs. Outside is a secluded suntrap patio and secure off-road parking, and the whole is located in quiet countryside adjacent to the owners' home. It was a pleasure to meet Terry and Marie who were friendly helpful and attentive. All in all and excellent choice for us from which to explore North Norfolk.

Really nice to have a honeymoon couple stay and especially as it was enjoyable too Of course it is a self contained holiday let where guests take care of themselves We do point out in our information book ( which guests are encouraged to read on arrival ) that toilet rolls , kitchen rolls ,hand cleanser ,washing up liquid etc etc are all complimentary to help guests settle in .They are not ongoing as overheads are too high unfortunately Property Owner

The nearby villages are picturesque and there is easy access to a common where fallow and ponies roam free. The property itself is very convenient and comfortable. The kitchen in particular is of a very high standard and all utensils are of high quality. The lounge adjoins the kitchen and has a comfortable sofa and a charming wood-burning stove. It is noteworthy that the furniture throughout the property matches - a nice touch. The bed is very comfortable and a vibro-massage chair in the bedroom adds a feeling of luxury. There is a distinct 'vibe' about the place that is restful and relaxing. The small private garden is a little sun trap. A small oak woodland on the premises provides a place to walk and to sit. The hosts live in an adjacent property and are very helpful and welcoming. without being intrusive. Due to the pandemic, I was fortunate to get the booking, as I had travelled from Romania in the hope of getting a vaccine. So, it was all done in a hurry, as I could not stay with friends or in a hotel. Squirrels Drey was fantastic in every way, and ideal to be isolated during the lockdown. The host, Terry and Marie, were helpful and aware of the situation. Everything was provided with style and attention to detail. In fact, I would love to live permanently in the accommodation as it is perfect, transporting it to Romania! In reality the rating fell between Met and Exceeded Expectations. The reason for setting it lower is that we felt that the bathroom needed somewhere to hang all the lovely towels and a having a shelf to put toothbrushes and glasses on over/around the washbasin would make using it perfect. A DVD player downstairs would also be a bonus. Finally, we would suggest that the content and style of the guidance notices posted in various locations around the property should be reviewed to provide a more professional approach to imparting essential information. Unfortunately these lowered the tone of such a lovely property to stay in.

About the location

LITCHAM

East Dereham 9 miles; Swaffham 9 miles; Fakenham 11 miles.

Litcham is a traditional, rural Norfolk village with one pub (The Bull Inn), a local butcher, a combined post office and convenience store, and a fish and chip shop. The beautiful village church, with its prominent square tower, dates back to the 12th century, though it was rebuilt to a great extent in the 15th. Litcham and the surrounding villages in the parish (particularly Beeston and Tittleshall) have a busy events calendar. Litcham Common, officially a Local Nature Reserve for over 20 years, is superb for nature lovers, bird-watchers and particularly walkers, as it sits on the Nar Valley Way, which runs all the way from East Dereham to King's Lynn. The three local towns of East Dereham, Swaffham and Fakenham are all about 10 miles away, providing access to a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants.
