"Lovely cottage situated in a great area, spacious rooms with lots of character."
Cleanliness could be improved with cobwebs/dust and stains on some towels/bedding. Some items eg: washing tablets and dishwasher tablets and milk noted to be included on listing were not there, would also benefit from oven gloves, cloth/sponge and more loo roll! Garden seems lovely, didn’t use it much due to cooler weather! Driveway big enough for a small car only, but parking on the road would be fine for larger cars.

"We arrived at the cottage, parked on the very small forecourt (I have a Skoda fabia but it still protruded onto the pavement."
After we unloaded the car we made a drink using our own tea and milk as there wasn't any at the property as promised. Sat in the one usable seating area in the garden which was uncomfortable (no cushions) overshadowed by an elder dropping berries so a bit messy to sit on and next to a fuel tank that smelt strongly of fuel/oil Immediately the dogs next door began barking and jumping at the fence which disturbed our dog to the point that he didn't want to be in the garden, this was almost continuous. Later on I used the oven to reheat some meatballs and sauce that I had prepared but couldn't find an oven glove. I couldn't find a cloth to wipe the side either, or a dishwasher tablet but luckily I had brought some with me. Once in bed (which was very comfortable) we could clearly hear the neighbours conversation and shouting through the bedroom walls. At 7 am on the Sunday morning loud banging from the neighbours woke us all up, this went on for about 10 minutes. Over breakfast we unanimously decided that we would all rather be at home than in that cottage. My opinion of the property is that it is not a holiday cottage, there weren't any nice views out of the windows or from the garden, you faced the back door and the boiler from the seating area . It was incredibly basic in furnishings and kitchenware, badly maintained with broken/loose tiles as you stepped out the shower, loose/drooping shower rail upstairs. The garden was neglected and uncared for with overgrown grass and bushes, a green mossy chair and concrete seats (covered in elder berries. We packed the car, locked the door and drove home. I have rented many cottages over the years and this is the first time I have given a bad review. The cottage is more suited for long term rental and is certainly not, in my opinion, condusive to a relaxing holiday. I would strongly recommend street viewing the property before booking it. We booked the cottage for a week and stayed for approximately 18 hours, notified the caretaker that we had left by phone call and spent the remainder of our holiday at home.
We sincerely apologise for the disappointing experience you had at the cottage. We understand that your stay did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. "Property was tired in places, could benefit from general decoration upgrade."
There was a damp smell when entering the property and we had to go to the supermarket straight away for fly killer as there were several flies in the kitchen and living room. I was sent an email stating there would be tea, coffee and milk sachets but I wasn't able to find any of these. We had a nice week but unfortunately wouldn't re book the property.
We apologise for any inconvenience you experienced during your stay. We value your feedback and will use it to improve our services. Property Owner

"I really enjoyed Vintners Cottage at Freethorpe and we visited Great Yarmouth, also travelling by train to Norwich and Cromer."
I am 81 and my friend is 83. We had read the cottage listing and understood there were steps and steep stairs. I am very fit and able to negotiate the stairs without problem, except for carrying a suitcase or bag upstairs (even more so when descending) which proved very difficult whilst hanging on to the rope ladder. Perhaps this should be specified. My friend used the downstairs facilities and bedroom. This lovely cottage is more suited to younger folk.

"The property was everything we were expecting and more."
It is a great little place and we enjoyed our 3 night stay! It is a little out of the way of things but not too far and only a few mile drive from anything.

"A great stay at Vintners Cottage."
Really comfortable and everything we needed. Well presented and homely 18th century home. Tall people will be silly not to duck as we didn’t having the bruises to prove it. Lovely quiet spot with a big garden for the pooch to explore in safety. Would highly recommend.

"The owners were extremely welcoming with great communication throughout our stay."
The cottage was cosy but with plenty of room and lots of home comforts. The beds were super clean and very comfortable emma mattresses which makes a difference after being out and walking all day. There was always plenty of hot water and the heating was easy to manage. The garden was excellent for our dog and the garden room an added bonus when it was raining. We played scrabble, pool and watched the sun set on a few occasions. We could not fault our stay and would definitely stay again.

"On arrival at Vintner's cottage we proceeded to use the upstairs bathroom my partner was upstairs and I was downstairs in the kitchen after a short time water started coming through the beams in the kitchen, we reported it and were told not to use the upstairs bathroom again."
We slept downstairs or tried to, the outside of the downstairs bedroom was made of wood and on that evening and the next evening 23rd & 24th Dec 2023 it was very windy and raining it was impossible to sleep because of the noise. We left on Christmas evening our Christmas stay was a disaster.
We are very sorry that this happened. Unfortunately, as it was the Christmas period we were unable to get this fixed during your stay. Through Sykes we offered alternative accomodation close by, but as you wanted to stay in the Cottage we provided a partial refund in compensation for the fact that the upstairs bathroom couldn't be used during your stay. The problem with the bathroom has now been fully fixed. Property Owner

"The property was everything we hoped it would be."
The cottage was comfortable and peaceful. The kitchen well stocked with equipment. There is an enclosed rear garden - perfect for my small dog. I have no hesitation in recommending the cottage.

"The house was really lovely and it was great having the private garden to sit in too."
We had a great stay thanks and managed well without a car. But it would have been useful to have, in the house, information about the excellent local minibus service that runs round the villages in the area as well as into Acle (for connections to Norwich and London) and Wroxham (for Broads boat tours and to shop in the amazing Roy's).

"A very comfortable well appointed cottage well located to explore the Broads and coastline."

"The cottage was great."
There was a bit of an issue with the bath and the hot water but the owner sorted it promptly and kept us very well informed of the arrangements etc.

"We enjoyed staying in this little cottage for a few days while visiting family."
We loved the garden view from the downstairs bedroom. The beds and living room furniture were very comfortable and the place was spotlessly clean. The long narrow garden was lovely, and secure for our little dog. Nice supply of board games, and a small pool table in the garden room at the end of the garden that would be great to spend time if the weather had been poor. The only downside was that the taller members of our group learned the hard way to mind their heads going through doorways! Freethorpe is a nice little village in glorious Norfolk countryside.

"Could not watch TV as it goes through the Internet and just kept freezing."
But a beautiful cottage.

"Lovely cottage in the quiet village of Freethorpe."
I chose this property for the downstairs on suite for my elderly mother. There are a few small steps throughout the ground floor but we’ were advised and were not a problem. The beds were extremely comfortable. The tv was intermittent but I’m guessing that was just the area as the Wi-Fi worked well. My biggest challenge was trying to work the blind in the living room. Which I never mastered. If you’re looking for peace and quiet then Freethorpe is the ideal place. Easy access in the car to pubs, restaurants and shops.

"Lovely cottage, all the amenities."
The only thing that let the experience down for us was there was a big dog that lives next door that barked alot! Our little Frenchie was scared and wasn’t keen to go out in the garden when the dog next door started barking. It also woke my husband at 7am a couple of mornings.

"Lovely area."
Very flat so do expect blustery days. Cottage is well fitted out and stocked, but sadly no microwave oven so no quick snacks. We used the log burner only on our first day . We could not see the flames due to build up of soot on the inside of the glass door. We both noticed a faint smell of wood smoke in the kitchen in the evening's during the week we presumed this from adjacent property but this did not detract from our stay but should be looked at. As there's no TV aerial fitted so you need to rely on Wifi to watch any program's but using your own account. Unfortunately you lose the benefits of wifi at around tea time when village usage exceeds wifi capacity. The main point we would reiterate from the write up is the bedroom access stairs. The access upstairs to the bedroom and raised bath are definitely not for the old or infirm. The down stairs bedroom which is built in an insulated wooden extension was cold even with the heating on on frosty nights . There is only enough room to just to walk around the bed so there's is no room for hanging space for clothes. The rear garden needed attention and maintenace but it was early in the season. A visitor book leave helpful comments would have been nice addition. None of the above really detracted from our holiday and not enough to contact the owners durning our break. Hope this is helpful. Regards Ean
